eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

These tactics look absolutely ridiculous, I know!
The players don't play in these positions, let me tell you!

THESE TACTICS ARE TO BE APPLIED TO THE OPPOSITION TEAMS ONLY - Use your own tactics for your team.

What happen to the AI Team during a match:
The CBs are still relatively central until in possession, then they push out a bit wider. (NOTHING LIKE THE IMAGES BTW)
The Full Backs still defend as full backs, but they start off in a more advanced position, supporting the midfield and attack.
The CMFs are still dropping deep to receive and distribute passes and pushing up when in possession.
The CMFs when OUT of possession drop deep with the full backs to help defend.
Due to the "Front Line Pressure", the attackers push up or drop deep when out of possession.

You will notice a difference in lack of stupidity with regards to passes and mis-controlling the ball.
You will notice your own players who have high top speed pull away from players easier and quicker.
Your own players have more time to pass and receive passes including through balls (high and low).

There are still issues with the fouls. Personally, I feel sliding tackles are broken. Very rarely do you win the ball.
The standing tackles are still iffy too. Often get a yellow card for merely trying to defend. But, there is no way to fix these issues.

Personally, I believe the game is over-complicated and causes AI confusion for itself when trying to read and control 20 outfield players in a small area of the pitch resulting in weird scripted like actions. These tactics open the pitch right up.

I recommend playing Super Star, minimum of 10 mins.

Anyone who is massively frustrated with the gameplay of PES 2020, try this with One Team and play AGAINST them.
It works well in Master League, not sure about Exhibition Match - it might be too easy?

Anyone who enjoys PES 2020 the way it is, ignore this post.

I'll try tis trick.
Interestingly, I notice Southampton and MU are two AI teams where I can feel scripting is the strongest.

My mate says he won't buy the update ,although I am , will this mean he won't be able to join my online games ? Anyone know what the crack is with the update ?

@Richieboy82 Yeah, 2021 and 2020 won't be compatible online. You can still play 2020 online for a while, I assume. Pes 2021 is still a different game, the Season Update part just means they have done bugger all to change it.

I don’t think it over writes pes20 if you download digitally(and have pes20 installed, same with the disk)Ie pes21 will install as a separate game but your settings from the previous game will be recognised.

Your mate will have to have a copy of 21 though if you want to play online together.

Its a bit more then just a flat rooster update and strips though..Graphics and animations have been optimised further as has response, and player reaction time..From what I’ve seen collisions have also been polished and they seem much more consistent.

For me fingers crossed headers have improved and input delay..Itching to play a more optimised and refined(fingers crossed)game.

Don’t under estimate what a difference a lot of optimisation can make..Pes20 needed atleast another six months of this before it launched last year..It’s still the same core and engine but that’s a good thing imo..Making bigger changes over the course of a year and then expecting there not to be technical issues has been WEPs biggest oversite the last two generations...

Look at the other game and how building on the foundations of one core for a period of five years has produced more continuity and a more layered game..I’m hoping this is a future model Konami adopt..Its what they did with pes on the ps2 and ISS(they were only ever updates and refinements, that made a big difference).

@Zeman
Yes, please do. I know a lot people said they'd definitely give this a go, but not heard back as yet.

I will upload a full Prem League of teams - mix of ridiculous 442, 352, 433 formations - they all work well.
Drop the central CMF back down into on half and change position to DMF. See images... 22B5358B-AD1D-4A70-84F2-77E3DC99D175.jpeg82F0880A-498D-4B88-B307-0A39806D4738.jpeg

Player individuality and shooting. The 2 things PES Always did best. And now it's the 2 things that are (some of) the worst aspects of the game. Sad.

The individuality is still there although weirdly certain teams feel a bit flat and lifeless compared to others..With PSG you really notice it and there are plenty of examples in the lower leagues, especially the South America leagues were it’s really prevalent. The better you play the game and how you use those players also factors in..

Shooting on basic is awful..But spend enough time with manual and you can pretty much place the ball where you want and with the power you want. There’s subtlety and you can strike the ball at different angels with your body position and when it’s bouncing/bobbling to generate some lovely finishes..Obviously the better the player, the better the quality.

It is a game that works on so many levels..and you can really control tempo and possession..It’s just not a game where constantly trying to win the ball is effective(When not in possession)..More often then not your just end up exposed.I understand why people don’t like it..it’s the opposite of pes on the ps2 and it’s a game geared towards more direct control..Rather then pes on the ps2 which was heavily automated and totally stat driven..Ive also seen a lot of people play that don’t get the defensive system and how you can be almost like a fortress at the back..People also blame the game for there own error and poor micro management on the pitch.

Pes has more in common with ISS now and the other game....There never going to revert back to the pes on the ps2 style of gameplay..

I mainly play online and I can't see the individuality at all thb. I remember playing with Santos when Neymar was there and even though the team as a whole was pretty bad I always felt I had a chance to do something when he got the ball playing against much better teams online. That feeling isn't there anymore. I bet you can feel the individuality offline though.

Online no way...That’s a shit show for me and it always massively regresses after the first patch..Mindless pa3 players that want to win at all costs..with the odd fuma player or someone who wants to actually play football..I appreciate though as a parent and how logistically hard it is as a adult to sit with friends(if they live in a different area, location )on a couch like the old days(when we were young).On-line for some is the only option for humanVhuman play.

I play a lot of 1vs1 against a mate(and that’s were pes20 does shine imo,two FUMA players)..Other then that it’s the master league and league modes..I haven’t updated or patched a pes for over 6 years(we’ll only to try it)..The balance is better and I’m of the believe they break the game almost deliberately after the first patch(Ie visible and blatant scripting).Especially outside of exhibition mode.

@AntonyC_PESCustomFaces

Just try vs Southampton and MU (I play Chelsea).

Usually vs Southampton McCarthy became super GK and vs MU Lingard became Lingardinho, this time they were both normal again. So I think you're right about scripting.
I won 2 - 1 vs MU and 4 - 0 against Southampton.

Needs more experiment with formation as I think the AI defense noticeably weak (especially vs Southampton). I notice the CBs drift wide when on the ball, move to center when off the ball but the SMs and CMs don't drop fast enough.

I will use this trick moderately.

What level are you playing on? I play top player and I win the same amount as I lose. But each game is enjoyable.
I am PS2 style player - I don't think I can ever adapt to the new way PES is meant to work. I don't have the patience. I just want fun, goals, laughter and satisfaction, regardless of the result.
And I want to the the Player's individuality to shine through. This certainly helps that. I like the fact that even at 2-0 down, I have a chance! With the game the way it is in its default state. I go 2-0 down - I know it's all over!

Plus, have you noticed how fast players are now fast again? Rather than slowing down to let the AI catch up?

You must work in game development(because you know)..😉

I tip my hat...Great post and accurate👊

I wish I had the technical knowledge/skill for that :P I've done some coding so understand the kind of logic you need to use to make a program do what you want and find it interesting to see the techniques used in games, watch presentations on some of the technology they use and break down how it seems they are working behind the scenes while playing etc...

My interest in it is more along the lines of someone watching documentaries to gain an appreciation and understanding of a topic, rather than academically studying it for years - like how I've watched dozens of Attenborough documentaries but it doesn't mean I could work as a biologist :D.

In some ways, breaking down how the mechanics/AI work in games can make them just piss you off when you start to see how they are taking away control from you, cheating or doing things worse than PS2/3 games. Just taking the game purely at face value without thinking too much about it, I'd probably enjoy PES 2020 a lot more... On the surface the players move more realistically, the ball moves more realistically, but as an overall gameplay experience it doesn't do anything for me.

Nice music :)).

Bahaha, that thumbnail! (The graphics are sensational, that's just a really unfortunate moment to use as your thumbnail!)
It's almost as if the thumbnail is a backhanded dig at it being the same game haha

PES 2020 looks fine as it is, You really can't improve it much more and it's not a priority anyway. I feel like they've touched the contrast up a little bit though.

Let's hope at the very least you can import teams directly from the previous game. The file system should be exactly the same.
Nop, it´s different, Robbye said this

No friend. TED files are not supported. As every year when the game changes, all the exported files cannot be used in the new edition of the game.

a hot mess as expected. ziyech still at ajax, robben not back in at groningen. even this they cannot get right. so what's updated then if the rosters are still a steaming pile of shit?

You are lucky since the transfer window will close in October all around the world, so whenever this game would came out in September you could still be annoyed by the out of date transfers. :LMAO:
On serious note if you played at least a month of PES lately you may notice the live updates usually include all the new transfers slowly (not really consistent so you may still be annoyed), the DLCs usually add them to the core database, sometimes with faces.

Um. No. The presentation makes it artificial and horrible tho.
I should rephrase what I meant about graphics. It’s the colour scheme and contrast. It’s been an issue in PES since 2015 now.

Red kits are far too bright. Black kits are too dark. it’s visually all over the place at times. Faces, player models etc look amazing as do the stadia. But the overall colour scheme and contrast is just wrong. I’ve said it a hundred times before, PES 2020 is the only game where I have to turn off HDR to get it looking ok. And it’s not just me saying that - so many other people do the same.

Games (TV settings) for All my games, except Pes 20,where I have it on a movie setting, looks shite other wise

So the game is copy paste of the previous one, and the only thing that should be the same, they change? They are doing all they can do to convince anyone to not buy this game.
