eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

Good for you gabe..

For me there is no other alternative..I still pay a lot of pes20 unpatched..Both 1v1 and against the cpu..For all its faults it’s still the better representation of the game for me.

I’m no different then most of the hardcore that want a truly next gen product with all the bells and whistles..A ball generated in real time and physics based outcomes etc etc..

I just play pes20 in my own way and I don’t have many of the frustration others have..I’m not saying people aren’t playing it right or there aren’t technical issues, but I get the concept and how everything works..

It’s feel, the nature of the passing mechanics and how if I play the game Unassited for me it’s the better simulation.

Everyone has there own expectations, what they want..But there’s also a lot of people that do enjoy pes currently and pit two fuma players together at a high level and you can produce some breathtaking football.

It’s not all bad..and bare in mind there are people that do enjoy and play it still.

When it comes to player ID..Ive spent enough time in the South American leagues on 20 to know it’s still very much there..More so then some of the bigger teams in the game.

I can imagine PES20 vanilla is a half decent game. I enjoyed the demo and i was very optimistic they will improve on the promising aspects of the game. The foul system was a bit inconsistent to say the least but was similar to PES5, on top Dybala and Ronald were dribbling cutting in a few times per game in the demo. It felt like you can see some light at the end of the tunnel, then the first patch cancelled everything totaly what was good not even improve on those.
If i happen to see a PES20 disc discount, im still tempted to get it on PS4...just makes me sad i cant import kits and OF to it.

Referees are still broken anyways..
Foul at 25:15 is at least a yellow, if not red. He slaughtered the guy without the ball. No foul given.

In general - looks like they went with "if we cant fix it - lets switch most of fouls off" option, which was quite predictable.

On a plus side, not to be a total moaner, it looks like ball is a tad bit less accurate and random. Lot of rebounds, deflections, missed shots and few inaccurate passes.
But that can be me playing PES17 lately.

Cant say anything for sure looking at one match, without playing it.

i meant the red for that foul :D

Chris Davies..Because it’s more stable then version 1.00.00 and has a few subtle improvements..

I spend most of my time playing with the smaller South American teams offline,so naturally want the updated squads and kits(if that’s been done).

Plus I’m a gamer and a football fan..And who wouldn’t if they liked A lot of the elements from a previous version want to buy and try the new iteration, however similar..

They most likely will bring few tweaks. The ball from patch to patch did behave differently. One patch it was magnetic to bits, another it was more.... "free" (and I hate to use this term).

Here it seems like they did bring more deflections again. But deflections and any sort of randomness were usually causing all awareness issues.
The longer you played - the more visible and frustrating it was.
So its basically trying to build a tower with missing blocks. No matter where you move the gap - it will be wobbly.

But it is time to grow up and admit it - it will NOT be fixed this year. Its just a matter of - whether you like a current, wobbly build, or not.

I agree somewhat with the "one match" part, but not the "without playing it" part.

Especially without a demo being provided, all you have to make a decision are videos. You can't play it without buying it, and if you need to play it before being able to make any judgment then you have to just buy it anyway? Never understood this logic. You can tell plenty about a game and it's mechanics from videos.

You can't even really trust the beta/demo/vanilla versions even if you liked playing those most of the time.

We're so desperate for a better game that we convince ourselves otherwise.

I feel like there is going to be a group of people who know this, buy it, and then complain it's the same. It's just bizarre.
This statement would apply to all football game releases lately, but at least this time they're being honest enough to call it a "Season Update".

Dont. I have a disc version. I spent a month editing all the kits myself in "in-game" editor. But it will be driving you mad not having proper kits.
Besides - issues are still there. It is better than last builds, but its worse than a demo was IMO. Its not worth the effort.

Well, it’s incredible that there even is a discussion forum for this year's ‘’game’’. As some are saying - Konami did actually call the game a season update. There won’t be changes. 99,9% the same they said - until… guess who… a brand guy… earning his salary from…. Increasing sales through online media… is saying ‘’no wait.. there actually IS changes’’. But of course, we won’t utilize this and sell the game as a standalone game and sell even more.

Ah... Come on. I sold PES 2020 a long time ago. If I buy this ‘update’ it’s only because of me missing playing a footie. I wouldn’t rule anything out, but it’s a disaster if I’m doing it as it can’t keep me entertained for more than two matches in a row.

It’s the best version Imo..and well worth the investment of your time..I play it on the X..So it’s as smooth as a nut.

i wish konami was bravier and "try" some older or newer code, they absolutly know how the community think about 2020 and they bring the new present wrapped in new paper but inside the box are still socks on christmas.

i dont talk about a new "monsterpatch" :LMAO: but something Konami could suprise the Fanbase...

I suppose you have to give credit to Konami for actually being honest that it’s just a small upgrade and I hope this is a sign of things to come..Possibly producing one full price game and then maybe two reduced season updates there after...purely for continuity and that ultimetly we see real progress, not backward steps and regression.Remixing, taking things out and ultimetly trying every year to produce something almost from scratch in a year just hasn’t worked. The time limitations have been all to telling and is the opposite of the model they used in the days of the ps2..

Let’s be honest the other games this year is nothing more then a season update..There’s barely been any changes at all..And Ea’s model is no different there just charging full price.

Come to think of it even pes back in the day between 1-6 ,was just a upgrade and smaller changes to ultimetly the same game..All the winning Elevens were just evolutions or subtle tweaks to the previous iterations.Ultimetly the base was the same or core..

I mean they said this is gonna be the same game with less money. So why people expected more? I don't get it.
If they made a huge change in the gameplay than 90% of the players would be angry because 10% of the players love that slow and hard mode that some of are love and want. I love the harder more realistic play but sometimes it's worst especially because the ball and the players are slow af. The only thing that I hate is the ref! that's the worst thing in PES.

BTW you can't judge a game based on one gameplay! You doesn't know if the guy who's playing is a pro or not.

If PES's entire Master League mode was completely blank other than the features FIFA have added to Career Mode this year alone... It would be a better mode. Not to mention everything else.

We (Evo-Web) say "every game is just a season update" often, and when we're talking about gameplay, I agree. Both games need new engines to give us what we crave.

But you've said you like PES 2020 and find it playable as it is... If you felt like that about FIFA 20, and you were about to get the new features they've added... You wouldn't be saying it was "just a season update". You'd be loving the deeper career mode. So I'd say your comment here is way off.

(For the record, to repeat myself - I think what Konami are doing this year is the best strategy for the consumer, because it gives 2022 a chance to be revolutionary, instead of yet more PS3-feel, PS4-looks gameplay. I want to feel what next-gen gameplay can be, and Konami are the only ones committed to that right now.)

the game has flaws and problems and in a cycle i can expect that the main bugs can be fix, and not sell the same game for less money.

yes they said this but that thats the lazyest way to go... even for a "gameplay award winner" but thats konami style!

for owners of pes 2020 they can sold pes 2021 as rooster update for 10-15€

I forgot how god damn boring PES 2020 was - and then I saw that PES 2021 footage and have been quickly reminded. Pitch still looks yellow rather than green as well. Yuck.

I won't even bother with watching videos. If there is a change, and at most it would be like a change between patches, it would be too subtle to notice without playing it. I will still probably get this, just maybe not day one.

If your happy to pay full price for a enhanced career mode then more power to you..It doesn’t alter the offensive and defensive imbalances in the game or the reality that on the pitch the core gameplay is geared to produce one touch perfect football with lots of goals imo..It’s a crowd pleaser that’s very easy to play and ticks all the boxes of a generation that doesn’t like error and wants instant rewarding football..However,the tech used is light years ahead as is the presentation. However good though imo FIFA has become.I just don’t get that same feeling as I do with pes using different teams and individuals. The way if you use the correct players in the correct way and that real feel in the ball..There just doesn’t feel like there’s any ebb and flow in fifa. And the individual players still really lack identity..There’s to much of a sense of detachment for me.

That said I can’t even play pes assisted..Its all the rubberbanding, ease of being able to just ping the ball about..Unassisted just opens the game up,forces you to play proper football and not just take shortcuts like just pinging the ball forward, your feet and body always have to be in the right position.Makes it more measured and let’s you have a greater level of control on all your decision making..This is when pes plays more like a sim imo..Folk can argue it’s still the same core and game which it is..But spend long enough FUMA and your understand why it’s superior...And why many would argue that this should be default and anything above should be dropped.Stats are still relevant..The only disadvantage I would feel is against another human player using pa1(only of they were good)..Even when I’m playing the cpu on superstar,I don’t feel it has any advantage over me because I’m playing FUMA..If anything it has more error, wayward shots and miscontrol then it would if I was using pa1.

Wait a minute... You're going to pay for a game that is specifically marketed as a season update (teams/kits only)...

...then dismiss people paying (a little more) to enjoy an enhanced career mode?

Careful in that glass house with all those stones you've got!

Look, even if you're right about the gameplay being different, that would mean, at best, excluding everything else FIFA's adding:

PES 2021 = gameplay tweaks and updated kits (£30)
FIFA 21 = gameplay tweaks, updated kits, updated career mode (£50)

Like we wouldn't give an extra £20 to Konami for a better Master League in a heartbeat.
(If you wouldn't, I'd throw in another £20 on your behalf - we've been asking for it for years!)

Point taken and more power to you was meant as a compliment..I like it when people have there own view and make there own choices(I did with V1 of pes).I know you well enough to understand what’s important to you.I also understand your love for pes and your passion for a better football game from both camps..

Lets not get all prickly..Both are hearts are in the right place.Im not trying to rub you up the wrong way or antagonise..

I enjoy your posts chris, humour and knowledge!..But you can’t deny your trying to de-rail everything I’m saying..It can come across as you have one mantra and you want everyone to share your view(just saying).

Likewise! I'm just challenging you on points that I see as hypocritical. This is a discussion board, it's practically designed for (respectful) disagreement... I think we're making fair points. You think it's worth a purchase because you think the gameplay has changed. That's fair enough. But I don't think calling out FIFA for never really changing, in the year when PES is marketing the game as having no changes, is unfair.

I'd also point out that, as much as I'm not buying PES this year, I still think they're doing the right thing (this year and next).

I dont think its aimed at you because of your views. Its aimed at you due to hypocrisy, that sometimes is literally dripping from your posts.

Chris Davies..

I hear you loud and clear..I just don’t feel your so receptive to others peoples point of view..Your to quick to dismiss things that you haven’t quite the same level of experience with..Even you only played V1 for a few weeks ..and have you spent the last few years playing pes FUMA..

I know the answers no..Because your have a set view on assistance and won’t play above or below the default..I understand your rational but do you really understand mine or others(I don’t think you do)..

You also think that anyone that’s positive about pes either has a agenda or are completely blind to all the negatives.

I see all the negatives but I also see all the good..

There’s a difference between respectful disagreement and jumping all over peoples posts AGGRESSIVELY..It’s not what you say but how you say it imo..

I dont think its aimed at you because of your views. Its aimed at you due to hypocrisy, that sometimes is literally dripping from your posts.

Give me a example....Having a positive view of a game that I never played and then three days later posting again what I feel is wrong with it and why it’s not for me..

Or saying I’m happy to pay for a cheap(and I mean cheap)upgrade that has season changes and polish to the gameplay..It’s clearly better imo to the game that shipped last autumn..Don’t forget I’ve been playing all year so can clearly see the differences.

I’m sorry it’s so wrong to want to purchase pes21 on this forum. And that by saying I’m doing so leaves me open to posts where I have to vindicate my rational..
