eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

How do you make good inbox crosses using manual (not assistanted) passing? I usually use L2 (toward box) and circle but it ends up slow and very (lobbed).
Sometimes I use L1 and triangle but it's also not like the assisted passing!

There must be something in the water as I've also reached the end of my tether with this game today.

I've tried to so hard to enjoy it and overlook the issues but it's just garbage to be frankly honest. I play Barcelona at home to Tenerife and Tenerife start with an attacking intent and knocking the ball around like they're Barcelona. The team ID is lacking to such an extent that it can't even do the simple things like one team realising they're the underdog/weaker team. It's at the point where they might as well just be called Team A, Team B because they all play the same anyway. The gameplay issues are just too many to list and have probably all been raised multiple times.

The fact that this is still the best football game in 2021 is an absolute disgrace and says a lot about the state of the 2 football games. I genuinely don't think the AI has really improved through this entire generation of console, what have they been doing every year?

I've already accepted the other game has nothing to offer people like me who want a more realistic experience but PES 2022 on the next gen really is Konami's last chance for me. I'd happily accept a scaled back experience with less teams/content, as long as they nail it on the pitch and bring back player ID and team ID. There's just no incentive for me to play a master league where Barnsley play no different to Real Madrid and the best players in the world don't do anything different to the poorer players.

Unless they fixed it between PES 2020 and 2021, L2 manual crossing is bugged and always just performs a typical long pass. The only way to do a proper manual cross is on PA0 when near the box just with circle, or by holding L1 when pressing circle to do it as an early cross from anywhere else on the pitch.

If you meant on PA0 and want a faster manual cross, try to use players who have the "Pinpoint Crossing" skill and use their stronger foot. The crosses are probably too fast when players have Pinpoint Crossing, but can be lofted/slowed a bit by holding R2.

Alright gents?
Haven't been in here for a few months, completely lost interest in football game, spend my time grinding Skyrim pretty much.

But this game popped in on game pass yesterday ,and Ive given it a few games , on eague mode.
And Vs 20?,I hated that game, but so far I'm actually liking this one.
Professional 15 Min and Pa0/advanced through ball/basic shooting.

Much more responsive, all the things I hated with 20 feels more polished and made better.

I probably see it with big and shiny eyes ATM Vs you lot.
But I'm liking it.
How's ML?
Still a script fest?

It works better indeed! I always used to pull out the arrow with L2 so I can aim the cross better. But now without L2 (circle alone) is much better.
Thanks

Good to see you bro and happy new
Funny enough I pick up Skyrim at Christmas for PS4 and have been battering away at it since.

I recently got back into PES21, all exhibition games so cannot comment on ML. Discovered the joy of advanced through balls, use them a lot of normal passing as well. Some cracking games. The game is let down somewhat by its dull shooting, and defenders backing off when you are sprinting at them from midfield. Still the most playable PES for me in years though.

I’ve heard there is the usual scripting issues in ML, but from what I have seen, not as bad as before. Only know this from watching a lot of TTB ML videos, he’s on pc and has mods etc as well so not sure if that helps that situation.
Anyone got a link to a good PS4 option file?

Thanks Marty,Yeah Skyrim kinda hooks you pretty bad.

League mode so far is pretty good, feel a lot like exhibition.
Was unplayable for me on 20 but always a good mode on all other Pes games

Might start a ML and have a look

I think PES 2021 is a good game. Considering how much it costs now, it's damn good even. Get an option file in there, and it's pretty immersive too. I hope there is a football game in out future that blows the current games away with innovations and immersion. But as it stands, I am quite happy with it. It's not that long ago that PES was a game that had multiple backheel passes, even successive ones, per game. Then there was the one that the AI could literally only score one type of goal, through pass, one on one with the keeper, done. And the way they patched it was to have a player clear on goal move away from it, to the wing, to cut it back into the box instead. So there was still just the one, although different, way to score a goal. I still played those games quite a bit because after all, manual passing is usually quite rewarding. I cannot stress enough, even if most likely everyone here is sick to death of it, how much manual passing does for PES. In an alternative world, where it was never introduced, I might still be buying it every year. But knowing the difference, the game is completely unplayable without it. Manual shooting is pretty good too, my preferred option this year (except for online because I can't miss that open goal sitter against some 12 year old PA lover) but I hope they come up with more variation there in the next game.
Finally, one put that in words. Been saying that for long. We users forget where we’ve been so easily.
Thank you for that!

even when I play these days, I don’t forget about the backheels for example. Sure, other aspects of the game have been cut or made worse.
it’s like in real life, it’s not only pro and con, it’s between the lines!! So that’s why in detail discussions are always better than exchanging one liners! It’s hard always to do so in this fast spinning world, I get that.
just my thoughts though.

have a nice weekend y’all!

hey @rockstrongo !:BYE:

Hey @PRO_TOO 🙌

About 10 games on League mode and I feel it's the same old story popping up,stats matter very little, having my 193 cm fw getting bumped off the ball with ease every time he's around the box.
Team mates not making runs when they should,or just a weird feeling controlling them,it doesn't feel right when switching to a new player, can't really explain ,but it's been like this since Pes 18 probably, needing to wake them up every time.
Spacing is a joke, CPU can play through me with ease.

So glad I didn't pay for this.
Not saying it's a shit game,it's better than 20,but it's not a very good game.
Can't even think of having a go at ML,I'd lose my mind probably.
Well,it's a freebie for me,but I'm packing it in

this game still the best football game even after playing FIFA 21 on PS5. However i got some intel on that.

Firstly, FIFA's AI is better than PES's by a margin. But not even that can change the core gameplay and glitchy animations. Graphically FIFA ps5 comes close to PES on stadiums, and has muuuuch better player models. However when you get into it, try playing manual for example - its non existent, the ball only follows certain paths and is overall much more limited than PES full manual passing.

Getting back into pes, I notice how repetitive the shooting animations are. There are only 4-5 or so whereas on fifa there's a lot depending on where your player is.

Im the same and gone back to PES 21 on PS5 - i really enjoy it and agree on the shooting - i think i have settled on manual pass, basic through ball and advanced shooting

Same, good game of football for me. Manual passing, advanced through balls & basic shooting at present. Must give advanced shooting a go.

i like the idea of a third party football game too, but this ? oh lord... there is absolut no concept, i wouldnt give 1 cent and recoment that to all others.
What do you mean no concept? they are saying football history video game, the concept is the history of football classic and legends as database instead of modern rosters

" This game will have as Database the whole football history(we will merge our love for video games+ for football) from the begining as amateur sport till 2015-16 season from all over the world(players, kits, boots, gloves, trophies, scoreboards, stadiums, faces, etc.) "

I have given up on PES 2021. It's actually really good on the pitch and the best online experience (divisions/PA0) in a football game ever but the shooting is so predictable and soulless it just makes everything, well, boring.

Superhuman goalies, the same shooting animations over and over and pre- determined outcomes. This takes away one of the best things about PES in the past, unpredictability.

BORING.

Been saying this for a while. Part of the boredom is from me playing as myself, all the time, in 1v1 mode. From defense, to mid, to attack. I'll make different choices, but at the end, I'm limited to my skill set and my tendencies. It's going to be predictable.

I think the boring shooting is also part of the symptom of not creating a lot of variety of open chances. I think the games rarely vary too much, the com (background AI) concedes the same predictable spaces in every game, more or less. If there's not a lot of variations in those situations, there won't be a lot of variation on the way we approach the goal, and there won't be a lot of variations in how we want to finish

So yeah, it's boring. But I don't play 1v1 so everything is dynamic. And I don't control 11 players so predictably isn't an issue

Not to burst your bubbles, a man can dream and all that, but it's missing even basic information on who's doing it. All you refer to are editors, but who's developing the engine? Physics? How are you even trying to come up with something realistic without having any proper knowledge on how to actually create games? Surely you can't just take PES, mod some stuff on top of it, change the fonts and et voila? This just seems to be a little...naive to me. Still, good luck!

The name of the creator is Xarisk, and as it is saying inside the article, they have program skills and graphic skills, so they will create the game engine and physics and a lot of new stuff!! don't check only the video but read also the article!!

" generaly we will give to our players a lot of options to masterize the game as they want " which game offers to players to masterize it without knoledges of editing??

on what engine is that "new game" build of ? editing and developing are complete 2 different things

you need much more for this project to get supporters, timeline, milestones, technic,

just an idea is not enough. for support your idea you need a stage where you can show the engine and the current status.

even a good artwork from the creator is more than some pictures and videos of an old edited game.

Maybe they should actually work on a proof of concept with their own tools before asking people to donate. You can't blame people for not taking it seriously when all you have is screenshots of some wonky faces on a PES 2017 patch.

Asking for £30,000 when you have zero to demonstrate is just laughable & like Tom said, Is pretty naïve.

Man they have zero starting budget they want one starting budget to start have timeline, milestones, etc.
the current status for now is little, so they have few images

they want 30,000 to start have progress, I don't think they are naives but the problem is at our days we can't do nothing without budget, so maybe they need the budget to start have their own game engine, as it is saying down from the image with Zidane etc. they will have their own game engine!!
+ as they already said
"P.S. For project preview we used pes 2017 because our game doesn't exist till now!"

I wish you well, but you'll have to provide far, far, far more up front for any meaningful number of people to invest.

Than show something from your own engine !!!!

Ambitions developers don't need money to show their vision. They develop this in their free time, the whole pes community is based on this !!!

If these guy have a "own engine" (and I absolutely doubt it) than create something with this, Show screen's, make a trailer or even a teaser! This is how these projects work mate....

Ask for money without showing something for the reason they need money to show something is absolutely ridiculous... 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

Impress people with something and the cash will flow.

Unfortunately this is not how it works.
I mean, I wish you all the success in this world and I'm not willing to rain on your parade here, but if you're asking for funding you should at least give some informations in advance (not even in return... In advance).
The right way to do it would be like Baz from Properlydecent did with Gameplay Football (and even that game, despite being well underway and well thought, didn't see its final state at the end).

For example, in the description of this game there's stated that the "dedicated engine" will come either with v1 or with v2. Will it be built in-house? Would it be an engine given under license like Unity or Unreal?

And if it's ready for v2 what will v1 be based upon? PES 2017?
Good luck with the lawsuit if you plan to take the PES 2017 code, edit the DB and the graphics, and then sell it as your own.

Just my 2 cents.

Why do you always refer to "they" when that whole campaign is made by none other than yourself? Come on, man, be real. This isn't going to work, nobody is pledging any money on blabla alone.

They are saying that will have their own engine maybe at V2 if you read the story well

Is it "they" or "you" mate ? Let's be honest here.
