game itself is better, but UI still sucks, moving quickly through menus causes pain - you got to wait till screen loads to get back quickly.

- seems to be locked @ 60 fps
- resolutions choice is still a joke

- advanced tactics are bit limited
- changing positions (LMF/LWF CMF/DMF etc) done by pressing triangle instead of square and works poorly
- L1 + RS doesnt work
- there is free training but complete lack of training drills :(


Played one offline game, servers were off so not much more to say, it is way better game than 0.9.X, but is it enough to drop PES2021 for good? Lets see. UI makes it kinda feel playing mobile game, models and gameplay reminds me a bit of FIFA.

Just playing around on the training. I'm a full manual player, the bar doesn't turn blue for passing, through balls and crosses on manual, but the STUNNING modifier still works, it just shows the manual yellow bar instead. Sometimes the shooting bar turns blue but only sometimes. The animations though are all working normally for the stunning modifier. I've hit some belters with Ronaldo, really loving the freedom it gives you, to choose the power of the shots.
 
The stunning shot modifier is extremely wonky to time for me, do you do it before or after you shot? Doing it way before doesnt work, i need to unnaturally grip both buttons and time them at the same time. Feels unintuitive

My expectations where met all in all looking at the state of it
Feels like a responsive arcade version mix of PES mixed with FIFA
Buttons respond quickly, Momentum gets ignored most of the time, ball physics are way more on a string and feel predetermined
Shooting even though its lifeless it now feels like the right power in both stunning mode & normal mode

Graphics improved nicely, Unreal engine shadering on the faces look nice and on a new level and the pitch is clean now, wouldnt say the pitch is next gen but it is not grainy anymore.

60fps lock on PC still is really bad to me, losing a lot of fluidity there.
But hey, recently got a steamdeck, gotta try it on there, who knows its some arcade fun on the go for me!
 
Watched some twitch streams and this demo looks OK. nothing breathtaking or amazing... will wait for some impressions here, dont know how much I can play with the restricted time limit and 9 teams only tho. Didnt' bother with the pre 1.0 versions so dont really know what to expect
 
Just gave it about 5mins, but will try more later... but interestingly most things are unlocked in training mode.. you can pick whatever difficulty you want, and pick which ever team you want.. i went for Atalanta :) All cam settings are available. Just didnt check the time and weather it was like the normal indefinite time of the previous PES's.. as i only played 5 mins before having to head out. Can't judge it too harshly yet, but initially impressions is that pes21 feels so much more solid.. just feels better.. But i didnt expect anything better than pes21. Will try more efootball bit later this arvo. At least we finally have a chance to properly test the game out... in training :)
 
Definitely better, still had a few occasions where ball rolls past a player and he seems to run past the ball.... Might have been my controls though, and for the life of me skill moves i cannot get to work, using RS.

Visually better, pitch better although as said above, definitely not next gen. Crowd 100% better, overall a big improvement over 0.9.1, but it hasn't quite won me over. I wasnt playing it thinking "finally, at last a football game i can play" Was more like "better but, meh, still a way to go" Still cannot choose any weather like rain, snow or cloud with rain

May come back to it if some of the modders are able to do turf reworks, and perhaps create a user made gameplay patch...

Just do training mode (which is how my game started on default, ie. I didnt choose training mode.. I automatically begun training mode after opening screen), and play around with all the time you need, and any team you want...
 
Not wonky, you just have to make sure the input for R2 + shot / pass are done at the same time. Eg. you can’t be sprinting, holding down R2 and shoot. You will have to release sprint and press R2 + shoot at the same time. Easy once you get the hang of it

Yeah it was a bit easier on the steam deck but with my dualshock 4 its mad hard to double press them both at exactly the same time. It worked sometimes, the other times it didnt.

And it gets an even more incredible craw grippier mega fast timing if I want to do a ''Stunning early cross' With L1 + R2 + Square (For me) at the same time.
Feels very unintuitive, and got to find the reason why it picks it up so bad, only when i hyper time them at the same time on my Dualshock 4 connected to the game.

Game also stopped recognising my DS4 in settings.exe on PC btw, It does not want to pick up any controller anymore expect my simracing pedals lol. Will try with dualsense connected to it, for now im portable gaming on deck to put the gameplay on the microscope.

Playing 2 more matches it feels like a nicer version of Arcade FIFA to me, but I so miss the real physics calculations, so much on rails
 
I love the teammate pressure option. I like to play total football (Cruyff style and hard pressing) and this option absolutely allows me to do so. BUT you should be careful and cover the position of player that is applying the pressure or you will face deadly counter (just like IRL).

Just to add, it's different than the teammate pressure from 21, here you don't have to hold the button.

The game on PS4 is smoother and very playable. But 5 mins matches are killing me, very little time to play :(
 
I don't understand why my resolution doesn't appear at 1080p, does it happen to someone?

To my understanding you basically cant run windowed at the same resolution as your monitor. Full screen will enforce your monitor resolution and windowed mode are all the resolutions under your monitor res for a windowed experience. If that makes sense, its a bit silly haha

Thanks bro :TU:, I didn't know, I thought it was at a lower resolution since the graphics are half blurry.
