Lol i feel really alone as to me, PES 2016 and FIFA 15 are the two worst game i ever played. And the second i hate for non-existent referee is PES 2018
I even largerly prefers PES 2019, physics/feelings which correct a lots of things / in a certain way some people will hate, some others will like.
And FIFA 16 is upper overrated to me. Too easy to pass, and score from long range. Don't talk to me about slider. I got the same issue with all people cheering PES 2013 : physics were horrendous, and some "free striker" where unstoppable, defense is pretty bad physically.
To me, it's PES 21-17 from this generation. For the balance, and sensations above all, and physicality. I don't found positionning worste neither.
But i replayed it, and PES 17 got a smaller pitch/a thing playing A LOT more than you think in the balance... But in terms of physics, i prefers largely PES 19 to 21, I like inertia and i never been agaisn't some "input lag" even if it's not totally that, for a player executing a motion, an animation.
There were in PES 1 and WE9-PES5 which are my favorite games of all time / with also Fifa 11 and 08 on PS360 (11 my favorite Fifa, before the tactical defending) 08 the one that transformed litteray Fifa in a very good game... Even if every players got a weird models and cm were reduced : hard to make the difference on a long view with a 180cm vs a 185cm for example. You :perhaps: see a very small difference, i don't even remember but that "thing" litterally annoyed me. In fact, the 2 Fifa i reallly hated on that gen were 09 (acceleration unreachable players, way less balanced) and FIFA 12 (first tactical defending try, a complete mess to me. Fifa 13 tryied to rectify it, and Fifa 14 completed it)
And Fifa current-gen... Mmmhh hard to tell but i don't dislike that much the 17, the 16 for the arcadish-fun (to me) wasn't that bad as i said in comparison to the others (15 is the worst football game i never played. Never. PES 4 is a masterpiece to me vs that atrocious tennis score football game), but hate Ignite global feeling of mixed PS3.5.
Talking about tactical defending, to me they killed it after FIFA 14. Too much space vs the defender and the pitch is bigger, easier to take a walk and dribble.
Before i used it to approch the player like a pressing, then i removed my finger from X and goes with Standing tacle.
Edit: ah yeah one thing could push me back to PES 17 or 19 (switching the 18 completely) in the future is the R2 stick dribbling. I still don't feel it and it's been two years. I always played with R2 pushed practically 80% of the time. Even if it's offering more possibilities i don't really got a good feeling to play with both stick for directing a player/except for pushing the ball like on FIFA, or makings feints. It's a bit like the PES 2014 Barycentre : everyone talk about it as a defensive feature and it was presented also as a "with the ball" feature. I need to retry that game just for that, both stick with the ball. I remember trying it before, but impossible to understand the f**king Kojima idea of mecanim. He create games were it's harder to walk than IRL so...
Now, on current Fifa, i don't even use it, all manually. I hate the feeling of "invisible wall" more than ever for the reasons i wroted. You could've make it closer or a farer/more far as i remember, before (sorry if it's not english) but they litterally removed the close "contain the player" on the latest FIFA i played, FIFA 20.
