Great post

unfortunately the pursuit of bottom line has taken over every single economic sector and with the take up of more and more plc’s and private equity investors…this is due to get even worse. Konami Directors, regional directors, regional managers, regional team leaders and regional teams all have top down targets….maximise profit and efficiency not produce an innovative, market leading experience that simply costs more to make and reduces net profit.

Im desperate to get out of the commercial world, it’s full of smoke, mirrors and half truths.

I'm with you, mate. I really am.

Should MTX be banned from games, and half of most games problems would be solved. But unfortunatly this is now the world we live in, and the maximization of profit beyond whats measurable is what rules the industry.

Even real football is turning into that, the new superleague try by the most richest european clubs is an example of that, and the stupid ammounts involved in tranfers.

Yep. In recent years, capitalism has moved away from any semblance of making 'reasonable' profit and is just seeking to bleed everyone dry whilst paying as few taxes as possible. We live in a world governed, in most ways, by deeply immoral people. Superleague is indeed a huge example of that - taking the game away from fans, for fucks sake - taking away so much of the fundament of what sport is about. Trying to do those things to guarantee a sort of sport-corporation monopoly is just sickening, and I was so heartened to see the reaction to it. A shame many more issues don't get such coverage or emotive response.

well, if there are some regulations in place in near future on online gambling for kids(myteam etc) ... than online wont be soo profitable.

That is just artwork by random talented dude using Unreal Engine.... so yeah.. that is that huge difference .
So we have beautiful recreations of Messi and some stadiums in UE4 made by talented fans… what else is needed to play “DIY Football”?! :)
since the official teaser hit, I have this picture in my mind… what a real next gen football game can look like. Still I’m in hope for that picture to become reality. :D

I remember someone did a similar one for Ronaldo a while back, and of course everyone who was born yesterday assumed it was a leak from the new game.

Although it wouldn't surprise me If Konami spent the majority of their resources trying to justify an in-game situation where they could shoehorn THIS model in

Maybe an evolution of Neymar's shirtless goal celebration from PES 2018 😳

This isn't fanart tho. This was a body scan by the same company that does scans for Konami.

Get on to amazon baldy dude with the dosh ask him to fund an evo-web made game. He's got plenty why spend it all on hookers?

The modern day PES community care more about having a front 3 of Messi, Maradona and Mbappe in ShiteClub, fonts on the back of shirts and Ronaldo in his pants rather than gameplay and an immersive Master League mode.

I’ve never been so downbeat about PES since I first played ISS all them years ago.

Series is done IF the F2P rumours are true.

I agree but faces and font are important for offline immersion

It’s the least of PES’s problems right now though, that’s the point I was getting at.

Seriously, they shouldn’t be wasting time on fonts and Messi’s tattoos when the gameplay has been average and the Master League boring as hell for as long as I can remember.

Konami should be focusing their limited resources on more important things. If Italy have italic fonts rather than bold it’s not exactly game breaking.

I'm with you. There is on excuse for the poor UI - it shouldn't even be a huge amount of work to make a lot better - but I think maybe we are the same generation. MyClub is wank, and I would want the focus 100% to be on gameplay, on revamping ML, on getting rid of scripting, all that. No harm in good graphics (and no excuse not to have pretty decent ones these days), but it does not maketh the game.

Im now watching itlay vs spain and it's fact that no one of the 2 only footy company's can't deliver the magic of football at this point... The focus on myclub and fut can't be the key of delivering a superb football game.

Sorry but I'm playing football games since Atari soccer in 1990 and now it's all about capitalism and nothing about that bring back that experience of that magic game...

And yes I am old 😑

I'm watching this game and there was a moment where Pedri drilled it to Oyarzarbal on the edge of the area but he had his back to goal, but was surrounded by blue shirts and couldn't do anything.

If that was he'd do the slightest turn to his left and hit it with the ball practically so close to his body & it'll go low and hard on target and beat the keeper while the defenders ran in the opposite direction.

I don’t think PES gameplay is not as bad as it is but the script ruins everything indeed

Yes we’re probably showing our age now but I yearn for a single player career mode/master league where every AI team plays differently and adjusts their tactics depending on the situation of the match.

I don’t care about faces. I skip cut scenes most of the time, they’re great at first but novelty quickly wears off. Why do we keep getting realistic and immersive football manager games yet we still don’t have an actual football game where we can manage a club and have all the same attention to detail on and off the pitch?

I don’t care about these data packs where 674 new faces are added. Seriously, do the younger generation just sit there pausing the game and staring at the stills of their favourite players? I just don’t get it.

I’d love to come into some serious money because after paying my families debts and giving something to a charity, I would start my own studio, hire a team of talented, passionate developers and give the world a real football game which focuses on all of the aspects we love about the beautiful game. Not esports, not gambling - but being able to taking a team from League 2 up to the Championship with all of the fine details included that we’d expect from a good single player experience.

We’re a minority. But like @Emroth correctly pointed out in a discussion we were having a few days ago in the FIFA 22 thread, there are still enough people who love Career Mode / Master League. That side of football gaming just needs more love and attention.

I think the artist may have had other motivations in making that.
Yes, It's oddly specifically detailed...

If you're referring to us than I don't think it's fair to generalise that we don't care just because the discussion of visuals comes up. 😂

I wasn’t referring to anyone here :)

Just in general I guess. Whenever official PES tweet out, the replies consist of 100s of people asking about faces and other irrelevant stuff.

And then Konami assume that we’ll all be happy because the next data pack includes 100s of new faces.

You have to see it on social media. People complaining about spending coins and not getting certain player and stuff. Shiat, I'm starting to think we're really the minority here.

I agree fully. It's like the weirdos who ent on about nets for ages. I mean, of course the ideal world would have everything good - but the level of focus on stuff that is cosmetic over substance is just strange.

Give me perfect net physics after shot physics. Give me excellent replays after excellent gameplay. Give me challenging 5-a-side modes after you've given me challenging, engaging and realistic AI on both teams. Give me good menu font decisions after good refereeing decisions.

It is very strange that such huge numbers of people get totally swayed by marketing rubbish, by stuff that has no real impact on a game. I want a lovely looking game, great commentary, all of it - but the core is the real worth and value, and it's just moronic to focus on the cherries on top before the cake. If you do that, you get given cherries, and just cherries.

If it goes free to play it pretty much is over for good regarding offline modes, master league, edit mode...they may as well stick to mobile because f2p model works on it though, but lets hope it is not true...

I would stick with the latest older PES for a bit longer before moving to FIFA if it turns out to be the truth. The end of offline PES would likely be capitalized by EA, probably not this season for FIFA 22 but next one for sure, or maybe they'd add an edit mode and other missing PES stuff as winter DLC to attract PES people later in the year.

And yes we are indeed a minority right now, we are getting older and they are trying to appeal to the younger crowd, so with that being said, the future is pretty gray gaming wise for us oldies. Guess it's time to get married lol.

Micro transactions, illusion of "cool", flash over substance etc.. unfortunately it's everywhere now. Games, music, movies, everything. That's why I remain resolutely old school in almost all of my entertainment.

That being said, here's hoping PES 22 has a solid Master League and offline modes, has solid gameplay, and is moddable. I can ignore everything else about modern trends.

If not, I guess a lot of us will keep playing ISS - PES 2021 with more and more edits and mods.
