Google Subbuteo, I had every 1971-2 First division team, would be worth a fortune now.

My first set was the 1982 World Cup edition. My Dad then pasted a pitch to a board and we added floodlights and fencing…..there were 10 of us taking 2 teams and doing whole seasons with cup competitions…………..the best memories of my childhood

I'm not worried about graphics. Even if they increase the detail levels, this New Football Game still be an mobile game.
If you decrease all details of Ghost of Tsushima or RDR2, could a mobile device run it? There's so much more tech involved on games development these days than just textures and lighting effects.

I remember that Konami release a PES 6 online version for Asia only years ago. It plays very good but it was notoriously dated, such as this PES 22.

When I was a kid I was thrilled one year to get a Subbuteo set… but that thrill turned to frustration when I couldn’t get the ‘pitch’ level… then frustration turned to tears when I accidentally snapped several players in half.

So instead I used playing cards, I had 4 teams, and flicked the Subbuteo ball around the living room with cards aiming at goals fashioned out of VHS cases.

Had both. Subbuteo has more legendary reputation, but Pro Action Football was better to play, due to the magnets it made more sense to play it as a board game with rules etc.

Every time I played Subbuteo, it was more we were damaging the figures/pawns than anything else.

I used to build goals out of Duplo blocks. My carpet had a big rectangle shape inside, so that was my pitch.
Ball was a marble and players were my action figures. I had all sorts - from plastic toy soldiers to cartoon characters made of rubber. Them rubber ones had some power behind their shots! Skeletor was sending missiles like Roberto Carlos!

After playing cards (which also doubled as Spitfires and Messerschmitts in a different game) I moved onto M.U.S.C.L.E figures. I had a Pirate one who was the image of a young Chrissy Waddle.

Ahh Subbuteo, that brings back memories. I remember the original balls were enormous (almost as tall as the players).
We played in a league (home and away) and I confess that I even had an official subbuteo log book to record the results.

I used to dread the away fixture at "West Ham", because the pitch was stretched tightly across a piece of hardboard, and was difficult to adjust to.

Whatever you say about Subbuteo, the net physics were way ahead of their time!

We nick-named one of the forwards "Bobby" (Charlton), because repeated play had worn his hair away.

If PES 2022 could offer some of the fun of these old games I'd be happy, but I realise it's a completely different thing really.

EA is using 'Hypermotion Technology' for Fifa 22, i don't know what it is but i guess it'll improve the animations.
Hope PES's animations will be improved this year too.

I played it quite a bit for the first couple of days but didn't touch it since.

Usually, if there's anything PES related to play that's not been seen before I'm on it non stop till release. This just left such a bad first impression that I couldn't bring myself to go near it again.
