eFootball (All Platforms)

Light me up today! I found the exact word that perfectly describes everything that happens with NFGOPTB aka EFPES 2022, looking at the gameplay, such as passes, shots, new button mapping and mechanics, defense, animations, graphics, and especially the terrible PR that Konami leads, it is obvious that many key developers have left and people who are currently standing behind the game have no idea what they are doing and the ridiculous survey in where 95% of the questions are related to everything else but not online performance is .... CRINGE! Yes, Cringe, this great English word characterizes everything that is happening this year.
CRINGE here, CRIGE there, CRINGE everywhere.

Staff leaving the company
Have seen this brought up quite a few times, but in recent years the only publicised departures have been people in marketing and social media roles, either leaving – yes – because Konami working culture is terrible or seemingly for reasons of career progression. I mean really, who has there been? From memory: Asim (think he quite clearly was frustrated with the company and how they treated him), Adam (promotion to a larger, less PES-specific role), that Lennibo guy (could easily be career progression), Lygaard (only ever a behind the scenes marketing guy), who else?

And how do we know these roles aren't being fulfilled/rehired?

In short, I don't know how much to make of that stuff. It doesn't scream an exodus of development talent or anything. I do think Konami probably has a toxic working environment, especially when we think of public-facing roles, and that it has sounded like from prior reports the communication between Japan and Europe isn't great. But I'm not sure any of this directly reflects on the development side.
it is obvious that many key developers have left and people who are currently standing behind the game have no idea what they are doing
Is it though? I don't know yet what to conclude on the basis of that beta. But by contrast, a lot of people have been decrying the lack of skilled developers in the Konami PES team for the past 5 or 6 years. Is anything newly bad?

If the quality of the final product is as underwhelming as the beta, another issue could be limited personnel, or development priorities being dictated from the top in ways that don't benefit gameplay (get the hair right, make sure you have this stadium looking great, etc.).

I don't know what can really be inferred about the development team.

EA always f**k up with the font

Doesn’t matter though in the grand scheme of things.

I wouldn’t care if they brought back Chris James for PES 2022 and every player had 80s style mullets as long as the actual gameplay, CPU AI and the other important stuff was good.

Konami need to go back to basics and focus on a game which keeps me coming back time and time again. I haven’t spent a lot of time with a PES game since PES 2017. They’ve all been borefests since then.

From what I see, we could either have PES Lite (or Efootball Lite) at the same day of the full game release, and also the full game day-one on Gamepass and maybe PS+, or the game being free with a paid DLC that gives you access to the offline modes, like the updated ML, and some bonuses to myClub players.

I don't think we won't have offline modes in the New Konami Football Game 2022, as they said last year that "We recognize that many of you are enthusiastic for new myClub and Master League content, and we are also excited to share that large updates are in the works for both of these modes.";

and in January of this year that "The expansion of rights to include national team competitions will allow fans to play the AFC Asian Cup and the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar as an official competition mode in future editions of eFootball PES games. The AFC Champions League competition mode will also be refreshed to carry the new look and feel following the recent launch of the visually striking competition brand and identity."

I know it's been said before that the beta plays like the mobile game, but it only occured to me today to try the mobile game out.

And man, people weren't exaggerating. It's exactly the same game 😳
I told you guys! The GOAL of Konami is to make exactly the same game for all and cross-platforms! That will save them money and work. Again all that is rumors, but maybe we will have one mobile F2P version for all.
PS5 version will have a bit more shine graphics and more cringe stadion announce like " Young Boys from Local schools are escorting the players " and after that " Missing boy with yellow t-shirt " (WTF Konami )

Apparently, they make a lot of money from the mobile version and microtransactions, and now want to emulate that on PC and Consoles ... Thanks MyClub players .. on the other side, I do not want to blame them because they are victims of Konami's manipulations, gambling is a disorder ... and the joke aside but many of them are very young children.

As I said months ago, I think the game will do something like Rocked League or Fortnite. There will be no new game releases every year, just new season updates. Will be named eFOOTBALL only.

I can even imagine Konami's excuses and press release:
- After analyzing the collected information in our database, about most played modes by PES fans, and we found that 95% of people play only MyCLub and just 5% plays offline modes, so we decided to concentrate our efforts on developing and improving the most loved by MyClub and we are happy to announce that eFootball is a F2P game based entirely on MyCLub.

Again to all media outside.. THAT ARE JUST SPECULATION, that is not a fact or news :D Please, we just fill our time until the 21st

If they do this they will lose more sales than they think
It’s actually pretty strange that they take another route considering reactions of the loyal fanbase, they acknowledged a lot of negative reactions when they deleted 2nd divisions in PES 2018 or 19 and they admitted it was a mistake so they know how fans react taking stuff out that matters to the loyal Offline fanbase

So, I had my fun and curiosity with the network beta and it's not to distance myself from it until something more official is announced and to not speculate until we see footage of the actual game they're marketing or a demo.

I don't often play football games online because they're usually antisocial or as i would say "C***isocial" experiences at least in my experience, but I must admit it did give me a thrill to play against human opposition especially when the quality and enthusiasm to play a fair and fun game is there from your opponent.

Last night I had a few games and I swear to god, in the first 3 games, my opponent kicked the ball all the way to the keeper straight from kick-off and fucked around on the goal line until i tackled and scored. Then they seemed to play something resembling a serious game. Is this some kind of online strategy/exploit? The theory that, if you concede an early goal, the game will boost the losing team and nerf the winning one, basically mimicking the rubber banding effect seen in racing games?

Then the other couple of games were plagued by lag, latency or even freezes/crashes and I just finally had to accept that this is an unacceptable waste of my free time and I uninstalled it.

Yes, it is nothing more than a test so I shouldn't take the stability for granted but I do hope they yield some conclusive findings from their test and it's for the greater good because it's unacceptable for a game to perform this poorly online in 2021 and I think this is the purpose of the exercise, Konami are self aware that in order to compete against gaming's other household online names, theirs needs to be of immaculate network standard.

Konami looking at the megabucks EA get for having shiny baubles and online wankactions and trying to copy them is understandable but a) wrong-headed in a world where they can't compete with licenses or budget or fanbase and b) bloody stupid when the only, best way they can truly differntiate themselves and offer a serious threat to EA is to simply make the better football.

Are Knoam now trying to compete with EA as much as they were when it was single player only. I don't think they are or they need to . Keep development costs as low as possible and milk online pay to win process. They wil still be making a fortune with or without licences. After what 21 has turns into and first impression of 22 I'm not even considering buying it and watching FIFA development instead . 21 is a decent game with the right sliders

You have to consider that even a small piece of the EA mtx/ ultimate team/ online pie is probably worth far more than what just sales for making a good football game would be.

However, with the only 2 options for football gamers going down the same route, there’s a massive gap in the market for a genuine football sim and I would love to see someone at least give it a go. How much do you think we would need to crowdfund? 😂

I would like if they release two games:
- free eFootball for all the online-related things, with arcade gameplay
- paid PES/WE for only offline modes, of course with realistic gameplay

Well, at the end of the day, call me old fashioned, but I still occasionalyl assume some people in the industry care about what they do, what they produce, dream big, have aspirations to create something that has artistic and technical merit at the centre of it rather than simply profit maximisation. I know the companies don't care, but I do, a handful of others on here do - and it's sad that this is apparently on longer even seen as possible. Greed, greed, greed.

The companies directors or whoever directs the development obviously have other things in mind and don't think the same as some developers do

Great post

unfortunately the pursuit of bottom line has taken over every single economic sector and with the take up of more and more plc’s and private equity investors…this is due to get even worse. Konami Directors, regional directors, regional managers, regional team leaders and regional teams all have top down targets….maximise profit and efficiency not produce an innovative, market leading experience that simply costs more to make and reduces net profit.

Im desperate to get out of the commercial world, it’s full of smoke, mirrors and half truths.

Honestly, it could be? People online believe all sorts of crazy shit with regard to scripting/momentum. They'll purposely nerf their TS, e.g., or only try to score goals just before/after half time, etc etc. It's another reason I don't play in those crowds: just a bunch of gullible fucking idiots who have no understanding of randomness, and attribute every goal they concede or shot they miss to the magic hand of the script.

Yeah I've heard a bunch of these theories applied to myClub but things like white benching etc just sounds like a different language to me. I can understand the basis of the theories as anyone who's lost their mind with Master League on these recent games knows all too well the game boosts weaker sides and they'll play like Barcelona 2011 or that the game immobilises your team when the opposition takes kick off after you score...

...But as I mentioned the other day, there's people who play this just to troll, which sounds like a cliché at some point but god damn kid, go outside and get a life, make a friend, meet a girl, whatever.

I can not imagine;

  1. sitting through the slog of the long bootup time of the game
  2. waiting for it to connect to servers,
  3. waiting for menu's to load,
  4. waiting for a match to finally launch after 120 seconds of opponent dithering in their game plan

Only to not do anything productive other than troll someone who's reaction you can't even see. What the fuck?
