What did I miss in those 2 days? Why are these apocalyptic moods? What does F2P mean? F*ckedToPay?

P.S. Ohhhh... I found it !! FreeToPlay.. well I was really close, do I?!

If they make PES or who knows how the game will call, F2P that means there will be no more offline modes, like Master League, BAL, or online modes like 11 vs 11 or regular coop?

F2P means Pes is all about the online, Myclub and microtransactions.

Probably they would sell offline mode as a separate dlc, but you can clearly see offline won't be a focus anymore. And that's the end of Pes for me.

When was offline the focus, after PES 2014?

Yeah, i know what you mean. But this time it would be officially announced by Konami. Remember when myclub was just an addition to the main game? Now Myclub is the game and offline mode would be some sort of easter egg.

Sad times.

The worst part is that online doesn't really need a deep gameplay system, so they will adapt online simplistic gameplay to offline too and that will be another reason why the gameplay will have close to zero innovations.

But the whole issue is - if they got the game right, fine, go ahead - obsess over fucking esports rubbish. But get a fantastic football game, with the spirit and verve of PES5, 6 etc., but modern ande ambitious with all the learning of the intervening years and processor power - and you'd get so, so many more players and payments anyway! It's so short sighted if they really are going to cynically get into a model of not bothering with the atual game core much, for the sake of online.

Those decision wouldnt be made by developers, or head of team, or anybody who knows what PES means.
It would be made by some wanna-be-wolf-of-wallstreet a***ole.

So, I would rule out f2p posibillity.

I might be wrong but isn't this what PES LITE already is?

According to their website, PES LITE is basically PES 2021, with less offline teams, no cups or Master League. It even has an edit mode which surprised me.

The issue I see with this F2P is that it has very few licenses especially for UK players. So I'm assuming with F2P option files go and real kit importing. So now they compete with FIFA with next to zero licenses, no way to import them and no single player game. More people will move to FIFA in my opinion

Agreed. They can't compete with FIFA in pure terms with what FIFA are doing. The only way they could is to simply make a far superior football game. That seems to me to be the piece missing in their thinking, if the supposition is correct. It doesn't take a genius to see they've simply neglected what was once the core of the game for years, but it's done nothing good for them. I wonder if they just care about areas where they, not EA, have the monopoly; ie Japan, Korea etc.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if what we know as PES LITE now is marketed as the main game for 2022 and either we get single player modes as paid add ons or they’re so uncared for/ unworked on that they just chuck them in for free anyway. If the whole game is free, more people will try it and that means potentially more people hooked to myclub so it’s no real loss for Konami I don’t think.

I don’t feel like the rebranding is just for the name sake and that the rebranding is tying in with a whole new strategy, essentially wanting to cut ties with “PES” as we know it.

Makes sense why Konami have and keep pushing for individual club partnerships for the last fews years as you can only use these clubs in their official esports competitions I believe.

This is going to be a shot on their own foot. I know that this online modes are very addictive but people that buy new consoles are expecting a high level of graphics and mechanics.
This is the complain here in my country, that consoles still don't have any full next gen game to play.

Guys don't worry. Konami can't be working on a F2P game for 2 years. I think they will release another game alongside PES 2022, which is a cropped version of the main game, like FIFA online 4.

Or maybe they expend the most of time working on new servers.

This game won't be F2P, only a LITE version will be
How else can they justify having to pay a 30 euros for an season updated version of PES 2020?

These used to be different button combos back in the day. They taken those out as well? R2+O, single press, double and triple.
From memory, they were all working still.

Jim Sterling calls F2P, ironically, "fee to pay". I think it is the most apt, when you see how these games function.

According to this guy, PES 2022 will be F2P

Ever since this post there's been a lot of concern in here that the game is going in a F2P direction.

To that, I can only say this: the guy says it quite confidently, but doesn't give a source, and I'm not aware of his credentials as some sort of insider. I know the reason it causes concern is because we can picture it, given the Konami (and game industry) general direction for the last 6 years.

But still, it doesn't strike me we have any good reason to believe this guy – any more than, say, Renan Galvani (that notorious bullshit merchant).

Hahahaa holy shit! I just went to his Twitter to check I spelt his name right, and lo and behold, a tweet ten minutes ago:
If he's banging on about it, it's probably fake news.

makes sense really unfortunately.

get the game on the same platform as both mobile, PC and console so its less maintenance, make it free to play to get people hooked and make money through the micro transactions.

Konami don't care about the offline buy once crowd.

2 years just for the servers? I don't think so mate. Maybe I'm the most pessimistic person here in this forum but even I don't think KONAMI will make the game F2P. They made a huge hype, changed the engine and said "taking PES to a whole new level", they couldn't have done all this to make the game F2P . Maybe PES 2022 Lite version will be there in future but I don't think they're gonna make the main game F2P.

But I think that people usually say that KONAMI does things that doesn't make sense?
If that's the case then why would they do this if it makes sense?

Anyways, PES is not going free to play.. definitely not, only thing that'll be free is the Lite version on PC / Consoles
