Yup, this is one of the worst parts of the game. A shitty attacking AI combined with not being able to send your co-players on a run 👎🏻

Being able to trigger runs on this game would instantly kill it there's a reason they aren't adding it. There's a glitch where your striker stops mid run when you send a through ball to him it's one of those momentum scripting mechanics. Imagine This game wants you to be at the mercy of the AI so you spend money on "better cards" they already showed their true colors with that team fortress pack that buffed your defense by like 40% or so.

It never ceases to amaze me that the world's most popular sport is stuck without a decent game the year 2025.

I have to apologize to efootball. Im playing now a master league in PES 6 and EVERY annoying factor from efootball is in there:
- frequent wrong random passing to whoever the game feels like to just to mess up your build up play
- cpu recovering instantly from tackles and getting the ball back
- catch up bug by ai

Today I've made the mistake to redownload and play this pile of shit. Worse performance than PES21, worse graphics, worse gameplay. I can't believe they killed PES for this sorry excuse of a game...
I'm sticking to PES21 with a patch that brings it up to date to the current season in terms of rosters and kits.
I've tried EA FC as well but didn't like it either.
So sad that in 2025 PES21 is by far the best football game to play.

Today ive played Football life 25 (pes 21 Project) online against a friend via parsec on full manual ... Ohh Lord is this Game far Superior in every aspect of graphic, gameplay, ballphysics, tactics over goddamn efootball...
Efootball is Just an automated, scripted shit Game for selling cards, soulless and boring...
If someone make an proper Football "Simulation" iam in, but right now, pes2021 is for me still the best Football Game in this era!

Pes 6 had a lot of issues back then. But there was something that was different compared to today. Us. We were younger, more laid back, more lenient and easy going. We didn't have other games to compare, we didn't spent so much time in forums/ youtube to nit pick everything.
We are now older, more strict, many things annoy us.
To sum up PES 6 will always have the nostalgia factor and it was imprinted in our souls as "amazing soccer game". That's the impression.
Being cynically realist and fair, PES 6 for today's standard is a fossil.

I'm playing Football Life 2025 too, it's PES21 with current season's rosters and it's great. It feels close to what PES25 could have been without Konami going full gacha-football...

Because it all started with PES6. All that shit with OP body balance and AI cheats. I was lucky enough to be introduced to PES series with PES5. And I remember my frustration when I bought PES6 just to find out it's FIFA now. PES5 and PES6 literally felt like two different games.

I have seen people exporting faces out of eFootball, is there anyone working on a tool to package custom faces from PES 21 to eFootball.

Agree, PES 6 is not a reference at all, not something you can compare with. Too buggy, too offensive, no "yeah" when you score.
We all said it at the time, on another forum when not even the 6th was out but WE10, that all was way too fast/offensive and full of counters and open to bugs of all kinds.
PES 6 on Xbox 360 though is different : more inertia well in PES 6 it was almost absent, pace was okay. It was also more natural to see animated players in HD without doubt than what they purposed on the 3 later version in terms of engine.
We can't be enraged against Konami, but saying that Efootball is the worst game from the whole series is objectively unfair. PES 15-16, PES 4, PES6.
Yes, scoring become usual an didn't bring any joy especially against CPU, it was on practically all others version except some WE8 or PES4.
The real PES 5 sequel, PS2 era should have been PES 2008 ps2. My conclusion is that version is bad and a lot of others football games a bit serious got a better balance, now regarding fun it's arguable. Depends to people's feeling controller in hand and preferences.

I don't know if it is the latest game update or a Windows update, but the game HATES Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling being on in Windows again lads, if you are playing on PC. Game can stutter if it is on.
Turn it off by going to Windows Settings > Display > Graphics > Advanced Graphics Settings, then disable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling. Should smooth things out for you all.
As for the game? I love what I *can* play, which is strictly out on the pitch, and the odd match, as any real single player content of any note just ain't there.
I was playing a hacked version of a PS2 rom of PES2014 recently, with all kits and transfers done as of Mid-January, and a pretty cool camera mod, and while it obviously shows it's age regards animations PS2 PES still holds up, hugely.
I say this because switching between that PS2 version and eFootball in it's current guise it is clear to me the developers are pretty much there regards capturing a MASSIVE amount of the PS2 games assets in pure gameplay, but it is CONTENT that is missing. It's soooo infuriating!

Same, plus in some way feels insulting... especially knowing that I have 54 PES 6 patches installed on my PC and playing through them regularly. During the last 5 years I've had the best couch gameplay fun playing with friends through the entire football history...
...meanwhile €Football can just: cri 🦗 cri 🦗 cri 🦗 , deleted it long ago from Steam coz' it's a disgrace to even have that total joke in my library along real games.

Irks me when love for old games is written off as nostalgia too. Plainly untrue.
I actually don't mind eFootball's gameplay. It just offers nothing for me. And scoring goals, football's main currency, offers so little satisfaction.

No nostalgic rose tinted glasses. But i can't only agree that a legendary name that makes us proud to play PES... Even if the game itself is far from legendary, at least when you reach a certain level when score doesn't reach 10-5 by games. Vanilla of course
We can say that PES6 inherited from his previous super good version while... It's the same for Efootball (the name doesn't matter) but in the opposite way.
PES6 is the most known after all those versions, the one who makes shifting many people from Fifa (not so long after 2008 NextGen lol) and plug'n'play game.
It's the people game, the one that even guys who have no clue about football, tactics, noobs can plays and win against average other players.
But he's also one of the most offensive, bugged and worst balanced from the whole series from i would say PS2 versions.
I got all PS2 Konami footie game on a SD card plugged to my PS2. Except PES6, WE10, WE10LE, and PES4. No need to put the boot why i didn't installed those games.
PC version with mod decreasing speed and increasing some others stuffs are off competition. But i openly say that we did a yearly league on PES6 with very small created teams, it was okay. But that game didn't offered to me any satisfaction to score, even less than Efootball against CPU just because the challenge was more to "not taking goals" than scoring one.
Now to quote what a pro like Bruce Grannec think about it (PES5 World Champions, PES2008, FIFA 12 and Vice World Champions on PES6) : he said on X when PES was done and replaced by efootball, he said something like "thanks for Konami for PES, But i don't forget that Konami did the worst football game ever made : PES 6" well he pushed it a bit too far but that's social media.
He's like us, he's a sim lover, got a channel on youtube in french where he plays retro and test UFL, Efootball, EA FC, and he's a simple who said what comes in his mind directly and makes a lot of good points. A pragmatic and logic guy, sympathetic too.
It's the people game, the one that even guys who have no clue about football, tactics, noobs can plays and win against average other players.

Not a fan of "iconism" when the reason is that something is popular but not especially good. Tons of guys think like me, and i remember in my old disappeared forum in October 2006, we were pretty happy having the Xbox 360 version instead of PS2.
Not the same mate, on PC it's slowed down. And it's a personnal opinion. We never said that PES 6 is for dumb people.
But you should try many others versions on PS2 emulator, you will probably notice what we're talking about if you prefers balanced sports games than offensively action oriented ones. But gameplay and speed isn't modded/speed to 85% so if it's faster, nothing abnormal.
Back to Efootball, i got at least a bit of concentration and manoeuvring players isn't that irrealistic and arcade. Now, i'm not interested by that awful F2Pay2win product. I by miracle a guy in Konami office slip and push a button creating a DLC with League or Cup mode as i think ML is impossible, and also Edit (essential for me) then i would pay attention to it and buy the package.
At least the CPU is challenging and AI pretty good. It's perhaps the saddest things i said on that message

Some of the goal I've scored in the game have felt good. One touch passing, playing up the pitch, to cross and volley home a belter. I will admit I've been getting a little bit of fun out of the game, but there's still time where it feels an AI goal has been coded into the game and there wasn't too much I could have done about it
EDIT: Last game I played was Celtic away to Killie, and it ended 0-0 and I couldn't get anything going + their keeper got motm. Didn't help I had Idah starting up-front

My point wasn't so much about the perceived strength of PES6 but the weakness of eFootball.

To me it's more enjoyable to play than flashy flash PES6, PES 2015 - 2016 - 2018 to stay in his era.
But it's a good game for replay.
EF is average, not bad, can be enjoyable sometimes for me.
Speaking about gameplay only, not modes or all the mess they done in the past or their awful mode.
I despite them for it. But i can't say "on the pitch it's total awful and one dimensional", then you may misunderstood that game with UFL.
it's not the case if you played more than 3 games since june 2020.
Now i prefers some olders dlc-versions than the current one by far, but overall... But i get you @Flipper the Priest if you don't feel that game, tastes are tastes. I hated some versions too (end 2023 or start 2024 i don't remember).

It's subjective at the end of the day. As @Hayes says, it's an opinion for which you shouldn't apologise. Unless someone tells me Complete Onside Soccer is better than PES3. If anyone anywhere said that to me I'd expect them to apologise and serve time in a facility of some kind. 😂
Anyway, don't worry, I'm not annoyed. PES6 isn't my favourite by any means and my post was just a throwaway comment. My point was that it's a giant, whatever way you cut it, that people play and mod religiously almost 20 years after its release. Good luck with that, eFootball!
