eFootball (All Platforms)

The only thing worrying about this is the fact that PC players can't play this test (PC on old gen, then I will stick with PES 2021)

It was a platform that PC Konami never cared about, and still is. Even Playstation has started to release its games to PC because PC is a growing platform every day, but you can't tell Konami that.

How can some people say that it's a mobile game? It already has new features like real-time lighting transitions (check match settings), new player models, new animations and other additions like ball boys... It's clear it's an early version of PES 2022, and Konami used the mobile game as a skeleton to build on. But this thing should have been a private test with an NDA to avoid leaks.

But now fans are unhappy, and haters will go to Youtube and check some "PES 2022" videos and write "lol PES sucks" as always.

Seriously, what was the point of this test?

I still can't believe this alpha-beta-gama or whatever you say.The fact that the game is in beta doesn't change anything. It is seriously impossible to make a game that looks this bad in Unreal Engine. That's Unreal Engine too and it's not even made by a Company.

Real time lighting transitions? What does it actually say in match details?

All of the questions that ask about "gameplay" are really just asking if certain functions of gameplay can be played without lag. I promise to you that this is not PES2022, it is just a console version of their mobile game. I am an Unreal Engine developer and can literally probably convert the mobile game into a console game in less than a day if I had the code, so I really think that this is just a server test for the most part. The mobile like icons on the menus also support this notion.

I do think that some of the new player models, kit selection and game plan menus, and pre-match animations will make it into the final game though!

The marketing strategy from Konami would also make no sense if this was the alpha PES2022. I would just hold your horses and see the explanations on July 17th

SO Funny how people discuss about this "demo" 🤣🤣 its official said that this is NOT any kind of PES2022, nothing from the real graphics engine or gameplay its ONLY a internet testing, nothing else.
Even the name of this "demo" has nothing to do with Pes2022, the release name will different

Konami made another version just for testing the netcode? Surely one can't be that naive to believe that.

Wait, have they gotten rid of the first touches in a number of directions you could do by holding down one of the back buttons (r1 in my case)? I actually quite liked that. The iniesta inspired analogue dribbling seems to have gone to.

Jesus guys. How many days, three? You're whining about this ONLINE demo test for three days now and bashing Konami for no reason.
I mean seriously. How can you say that Konami's marketing is crap when they literally saying on ther official site what the hell this beta game is. And you didn't have to scroll down because the MAIN info is there on the top! You're just lazy af to read it!

https://www.konami.com/wepes/obt/en/ps5/

But hey I can copy it for you AGAIN!

"The purpose of this beta test is to evaluate the quality of the online matchmaking and connection to the servers. Please note that gameplay mechanics, balancing, animations and graphics are all under development and will be improved before the official launch."

Now please stop this nonsense and wait for the official game. All of you are acting like 10 year olds. You can judge the game when it's released.
It's obvious btw that this engine is still FOX not UE5 or UE4. You've seen the first teaser that's how the game will look like. Be patient for Christ sake.

Yeah that's true. The new tap sprint to boost and more difficult defending is really nice though imo. As I mentioned before, I don't think that this is PES22, but these new controls might also be present in the full game.

Agree with you on most aspects, but this is clearly unreal engine. It even says so on the main menu of the online server test game.

They didn't need to. As I said, using Unreal Engine you can port the mobile version of the game to a console version in just a few days. I'm an UE4 developer and I've done this many times.
A 1:1 port wouldn't have that many gameplay changes. And touch controls can't handle what they've added.

Why the hell would they waste their time to do it just to test servers?? don't be naive

No need to be unsure, it obviously is the Unreal engine. And no need to be unsure as to whether this beta is actually just some other football game they had kicking around and decided it to use it for testing online capabilities. It's a PES22 beta, otherwise they would have stated that this is not PES rather than stated the final version will be better.

No matter how early a version of PES22 this is, we can take a lot from what we've seen in terms of physics and AI.

Preaching patience whilst losing your own at the fact that a pes forum has people commenting on a beta being released by konami?

Your brilliantly incisive insights, which are apparently obvious to all, didnt extend to you realising this is clearly unreal engine? Or is it still obvious that this is fox after an Unreal engineer tells us its definitely unreal?

What you highlight in green is precisely the point we are making. These are the gameplay mechanics. Criticism is not that they cannot be improved, it's that they are a flawed base. A fine distinction I know.

Coming on here calling people lazy as fuck for not reading material that has been repeatedly discussed? Should we copy those discussions for you?

Theres very little impatience here. Mostly people have been measured, discussing the game in great depth, blunt when necessary, by people who arent actually emotionally wrapped in how it turns out.

Yeah I feel like the game will be totally different graphically on release and there will be a bunch of new animations, but the new mechanics are probably here to stay. Disappointing though, that first touch was really useful in taking a touch that would immediately have your player facing the in the other direction for a counter, rather than getting some random animation that took forever

The gameplay will 100% be similar to this test game in the final release.

The non branding is to leave some ambiguity to delay the massive shit storm that’s coming because people were expecting a new game and Konami have fucked it and just copy and pasted the last one. If they officially slap a PES 2022 label on this beta, the shit storm comes harder and earlier
I'm wondering if the non-branding is more about the fact they're going to pivot to a new name for the next release. Maybe "eFootball 22" or something like that. And until that "reveal", they're keeping it generic.
All of the questions that ask about "gameplay" are really just asking if certain functions of gameplay can be played without lag. I promise to you that this is not PES2022, it is just a console version of their mobile game.
The first claim is not true. Observe, from the survey:
  • The feeling of excitement when scoring
  • Satisfaction and enjoyment of the attack and defence mechanics
  • Your teammates' movement in offense or defence
  • The depictions of tackles and battles between players
  • A variety of controls for feinting, their response to your actions, and feint style variation [the response point, yes; the varieties, no]
  • The controls for set pieces (FK, CK, PK) and how fun they are
  • Representation of each of the team's tactics
  • The realism of ball motion or behaviour
  • The refereeing of fouls
  • The sense of immersion provided by the camera
  • The atmosphere in stadiums and supporter actions
  • The sense of atmosphere created by pre-match performances
  • The authenticity of player faces
  • Satisfaction with game replays and highlights during a match
Arguably there are more that unrelated to "lag" or even just connection issues more broadly. Why are we trying to deny what is in front of our eyes? So much nonsense coming out from people desperate to believe that the game isn't itself an early version of the next main PES game.

The second claim doesn't really make sense – in what world does a game publisher/developer decide to test out their servers/netcode in some generic fashion, in a manner unrelated to the game they want people to play over those servers, and to do so they release a football-themed game made on the engine they're using for the new football game they're making? When you spell it out like that, it is absurd. They already know how their servers handle a big load. They have PES running on their servers already and thousands connecting to them right now. This is a connection performance test for an early build of the next PES game (whatever branding they end up using).
But hey I can copy it for you AGAIN!
This is incredibly passive aggressive, dude.
You can judge the game when it's released.
It's obvious btw that this engine is still FOX not UE5 or UE4.
So "obvious" it's Fox, and yet the game itself literally features the Unreal Engine logo. Would you like me to go ahead and screenshot that? Copy and paste it in here for you? (Taste of your own medicine there.)

You can call me crazy but this game is gonna shaping up a very fun game. I like the pace, the passing, the shooting and the new ball control based on stick pressuring. But, it's far from be a next gen game if this is really the base for the full game.
I'm not super far from this view myself. I think the pace as it stands is much nicer. The passing I'm less sure about – I'm FUMA and it feels more assisted than normal to me. Maybe it's an early thing. I like the sensitive LS ball control stuff too. And the new defending system (which feels incomplete – for the love of God let us switch with the right stick!) intrigues me, going forward with the series.

The stuff that is obviously lacking (among other things) are representation of real-life footballing scenarios on the pitch, tactical battles, midfield congestion, AI movement, etc. But failing on that score is nothing new, for Konami. I am reserving judgement there until I can play around with tactical settings at least – at present, can't even view them.

Likewise, I am a bit concerned this is the base for a new game. I'm hoping the demo is far beyond this in terms of both gameplay and presentation. But at the very least it has intrigued me.

Lots of debate as usual.

The biggest concern here for me is neither this demo nor the online stress test, but how danger close they are to the release date. Had this demo been released even 6 months ago, there would have been a lot of positives to take away, because the game at parts does feel good, and would have left fans on a positive note.

Like i said before, Konami/PES team give off impressions that they do everything last moment (like studying for final exams) with all their surveys and tests. Either it is them employing conditioning marketing (highly doubt) by releasing sub par experience and then shocking by releasing a finished product or they are genuinely getting their shit together at the final moments. Neither scenario will do them any favors.

So many people are in denial. I don't blame them, this beta is almost a cruel joke by Konami.

Every year i think: "well, they couldn't make something worse than they have already done, right?" Yet every year Konami manages to reach new lows.

This game looks so close to the new football project they released December 2020. Thats why i am in denial.
You can not have two games looks so similar but one for Android and the other one for next gen..

People say the survay is on gameplay of pes 2022. But first of all, they don't call it PES 2022 but New Football Project. And second, the most of the questions can be asked about gameplay but also for online gaming. Gameplay online is different then offline. Lag, so wen they ask "how is shooting" can be about online gameplay...

Konami is a deep shit about PR. They have to react on the players on twitter or gamesite.

One thing I will give Konami credit is how well they've mastered the concept of taking advantage of your costumers. They can pull off the most insane stunts and people will excuse them and conjure up insane explanations.

What other publisher and developer would release something as terrible as this and not be taken to task for it, especially after taking a break and releasing a season update for 2021? There really isn't one.

I dont like this...

When Konami states: This is PES 2022, this is for next gen, then nobody excuse them. But they are not clear about what this is. They called it "new football Project". When you search on YT you can find some footage from a half year ago. Thas looks like it, only different is that the footage is about manager game.

There is a cirkle around the player that you can find in a mobile version of the game..
So it can be a new football project, it can be a port of mobile version, it can be pes 2022 in a rough state.

Blame Konami PR, not the people who "excuse them"..

This game don't looks like next gen. It looks like 2008.

Okay, but what does that tell you?

That this is the base for the next mainline PES sequel.

It's really not that hard to figure out. I've said it before and I'll say it again: thinking otherwise is wishful thinking to the point of delusion.

I think people like you are to hard for people who are in denial. Its looks like "new football project" on YT, what's a beta out in December 2020. That was a manager game, you cant play yourself, only watch..
It was made for Android..

I cannot believe that they made the same game twice, one for Android and one for Next gen.. This doesnt look like next gen to me..

I am lucky that my PC is below average. So i can't play PES 2022.
Konami have to say "this is PES 2022 beta" or "this isnt PES 2022 beta, but only a game to test the servers"..

Fifa is shit gameplay wise, but they have their PR. Konami don't have PR. Or meaby they are Japanse and they don't understand European/American gamers?
