eFootball (All Platforms)

I was scrolling through Twitter last night & saw a couple of comments by Asim regarding the beta, someone replied saying that this was just a mobile port & not actually the game we're getting to which Asim replied that it "definitely wasn't" & that he's "confident in saying that".

I know he doesn't work for Konami anymore so this can't be taken as gospel but I'm sure he still has some inside knowledge of the games development via his friends & ex work colleagues. If he's confident enough to claim it's definitely not a port then I think this really is just an incredibly rough early build of PES 2022 sadly.

So Asim was contradicting the guys claim that it was a mobile game? I didnt fully get what you meant...

Well yeah he (Asim) just said & replied that this isn't a mobile port & also went on to say that whilst this probably isn't the final game, the foundations for the next game are there.

Now obviously we shouldn't take this a absolute fact as he doesn't work for Konami anymore but I found it quite interesting that he was confident enough to claim this is likely the foundations of the next game.

It was a long and restless night for me. Full moon, and other reasons, and I had little time to think.

I've been a fan of the 1996 series since I played ISS DELUX, then I've been looking for Konami football games because they were the best and I love football.

As much as I respect Thomas, I think it will be PES 2022, or rather eFOOTBALL 2022, because they want to remove PES from the name!

I realized that the game was not made for me, for people like me, Konami is already looking in a different direction and wants to get rid of their past. That's why all these key changes in basic mechanics like Fake Shoot, Close Control, Blows, Calling for a Second Defender, the Defense System as a whole, and other basic things that have been part of the PES series from the beginning, don't remove them, precisely because they want to break away from the past.

A lot of people say it's PES 2021/2020, I'm sure what they're talking about, maybe the animations and all the problems with them in past games, yes even here they're worse, but they have time to fix them, but most of the mechanics have changed and do not resemble PES.

Of course, there are other reasons to make the game easier for the mass gamer, who is more familiar with FIFA than PES, over the years this has been one of the main criticisms of Konami that PES was too complicated for ordinary gamers to this is now Noob Friendly possible.

But one of the main reasons for all these changes is that Konami wants one game for all platforms. And it becomes clear to a blind person that all the menus are made first for touch screen and then it is thought how to map to a gamepad, but I do not want to go into details on this topic.

Again, perhaps the most hurt is the incompetent behavior of Konami, behind whom we have stood for so many years and defended them, one way or another, but now ... it is very difficult to give a reasonable explanation of their actions.

DavidFish actually recreated my earlier words in this thread that we've been waiting 18 months, playing the same game for two years in a row, with the promise of a super mega next-gen game that uses the best Engine in the Gaming Industry and ... the first thing we see is this ... a super incompetent move from Konami ...
And all the talking and writing that "this is just a test of online stability" launches beta feedback Survey where 99% of the questions are related to the atmosphere, graphics, gameplay, animations, referees, etc. ... but... WHY ???? Please Konami helps me to help you... I don't see any common sense here

I've personally lost all hope, I can't believe I bought a 120hz OLED TV and PS5 because I don't play anything else, PES is my hobby...

I apologize if I'm a little confused in my writing and thinking, but my English is not very good, and I write one, delete others to keep the tone as good as possible.

I think these things you're talking about already feature in this New Football Game build, to some extent.
They've not used haptic feedback, but the R2 sprint works as described (and as they explain on their page): press more for greater speed.
Also with the left stick – e.g., pull back and move to the sides gently and you get close control mechanics (formerly mapped to the right stick, and before that to R2); push it more sharply and you move with the ball.
Thanks pal, I wrote that post before trying the beta indeed.
I couldn't find a difference in speed on Xbox One between RT fully pressed and RT pressed halfway but it might be me not paying enough attention (I was concentrating more on responsiveness/stuttering/lag as that's what is allegedly being tested).
If they used haptic feedback on PS5 (making triggers harder to press as soon as a player gets tired) it could be a huge thing. Too bad that on PC I won't have that anyway (Xbox 360 controller here on PC, I like it better than the Xbox One one). 😁

And it being a mobile port would defy all logic, which I pretty much konami's way...!

Let's hope it really is a 30-40% build. Its certainly freer and heavier. If they can actually build a game around it, with proper game shape, team tactics, maybe it will provide a few months distraction.

But at the moment it just feels like any other time konami attempted to switch engines/generations.

Are the mechanics actually different? It just feels like the same stuff mapped to different buttons.

The removal if the standard jockey from L2 is just incomprehensible.

It feels like theyve moved all the controls around to make it feel like a new game, to artificially concoct a learning curve

If you saw alfa of the last of US or any other top game you would also be concerned. That is what alfa stage is

I think you are completely right. They are simply changing focus and we old timers has to adapt or abandon the ship.

If it's any comfort mate I too bought a LG cx 55 and a Ps5 because of PES (and NHL tbf). I heard Ratchet and clank is quite fun! 🤣

Everybody knows what alpha is. Has anybody said THIS is alpha? Nobody from konami as far as I know.

Have you personally seen alpha of either of these games? Have you played them?

Were they missing their entire real-time physics systems? Or other game systems?
If so, great, we can look forward to these things being added to pes 2022.

It's not really a concern from my part. Like many I'm used to no longer having a football game to play. I'm just observing. And enjoying this thread being so fantastically active!

PES primary target audience is now casual gamblers, FIFA fast pace end to end 8-6 score line players and e-sports players. It's not intended for sim lovers anymore. They are trying to replicate the Fortnite formula on having a game that kids will enjoy and pro gamers can do e-sports tournament on. Fundamentals of football will not be the priority. Football is just a skin and aesthetic. Even rocket league simulate football better by having better ball physics and collision system.

If the game/series gets any heavier the players won’t be able to move.

PES was always about addictive gameplay and every match feeling different.

Now the game/series just feels like a showcase. “Look at how realistic PES 2021 looks! The king is back!”

but when you actually play it’s a chore, everything feels unresponsive and dull.

Series is done for me and has been for a while. I’m sure many other fans of the old games feel the same but Conami won’t care whilst little Jimmy is using his student credit card to buy 2003 edition David Beckham in ZombieClub.

THIS is the PES crowd now. We are just an afterthought.

Ugh.

Good thing i never expected that :D All this went down on the EA/FIFA route for a few years ago now. With the least amount of effort the highest profit is the strategy, also the gameplay or the offline content clearly doesnt matter for them for a decade now.
Im saying for a while now but we have two FIFAs.
It's just a bit sad that we all thought they would go down a different road and really give us a brand new FOOTBALL experience.

My only hope is maaaybe we get a FIFA 14 or 16 or 17 which is still not a PES game but a kinda enjoyable game from time to time.

This is the only thruth, and its not just PES --- NBA 2K is another good example.

Simply we are living in time where kids IQ has dropped significantly from 20-25 years back. And they have options to gamble from early age using video games. We are simply dinosaurs in this age, we care about ball physic, nets, turf, animations, gamaplay ..... 90% of other audience will trade all of that just to see new Messi tattoo, or Ronaldo boots being done correct so they can buy them ingame for 10$.

What's really staggering is that the most popular sport in the world only has two credible football simulations. One is a soulless affair with very few redeeming features and the other seems to have zero direction whose relevancy is now at an all-time low.

I can't believe that a capable studio hasn't thought to deliver a nuts and bolts football simulation that captures the nuance and beauty of how football plays. Flesh it out with customizable leagues, competition structure, open the door to modders (kit and player likeness importing) and it would undoubtedly be a bit hit.

I wouldn't generalise all kids this way. It was just the same on the PS2. I remember all those people online begging for Ronaldo's hairstyle and boots. They'd beg for his underwear if they could. It's the same type of people every generation. Different people care about different things.

I definitely wouldn't generalise calling kids now have lower IQ too.

I dont generalize just kids, entire human race today is more idiotic that before. Internet and globalization simply made their thing. You can see it in movies, music, culture, video games etc etc ....

Surely there are a lot of kids who are smarter than you and I will ever be together, but some basic middle ground is that you will make more money selling stupidity, that something good.

I think it's fair to call the new R2 dribbling system new and that control is actually good fun online. It makes it (too) easy to skin human opponent, which has at least some transient satisfaction, although it's made all the easier by the woeful defensive controls and virtually non-existent defensive AI. Or perhaps I just haven't worked out how to defend in this yet but every match I played was simply end to end and get a shot in - nobody could defend against anything, whether it was incessant ping-pong passing, or as I was doing, incessant dribbling and weaving from the back with some lumbering defender all the way up the pitch.

It's certainly not like real football, just some end-to-end esports game that happens to be set on a football pitch.

Can't wait to see what they've done with the ML, if offline play is even in the game any more.

hey guys,
i had my online performance test last night and i will say nothing but: i cant stand online lag (how minimal it may be) at all! had to find that out again last night! ;)
bonus: i cant imagine this is PES2022 being released in a few weeks! :SMOKIN:

I can understand some peoples who think it's PES 2022, maybe in term of gameplay but that's all.
You really think after more than two years we get the same game than the mobile version (New Football Game or Pitch Clash), for me it's just an scalable version of the Unreal Engine for Android, same graphisms, textures and 3D models.
Maybe only the lighting system look better than the PES 2021, but still too raw for realism.

Edit about lighting

haha casual gamblers..

I think you guys first see this as worse than it actually is --- if you look closely to some animations, ball movement, passes you can see it does look OK (not saying about graphic, but those can be improved) ... it does look like some next-gen UE4 PES 2022 as I expected, but that is just for few seconds, and than you see non-existing player position awareness, terrible goalkeeper animations, bad graphic, unfinished animations etc etc ....

If this is one year old build I would be OK with that, it can look better than PES 2021 --- but it is simply terribly unfinished.

This is really annoying...
Every year, this phase before the new release is full of hope and confusion!
Only because of the lack of communication, this company proves year after year.

I HOPE that the official demo will be much different from this beta.

Graphics on PS4 Pro (I managed to finally order a PS5 yesterday) are horrible. PES 2021 on my PC looks miles better. I refuse to believe this is what the graphics will look like in the final game. As for the gameplay, I really don't know what to say or think. All I'll say is the players still give me the idea that they have no idea why they're on a football pitch.

Also, both my matches were played in an empty stadium. Is the crowd only on PS5? Either way, the stadium announcer announced the attendance was 72k and 68k in those matches :D
