eFootball (All Platforms)

to be honest some people would just dislike the game no matter what konami does to improve it. i dont know why tho maybe because of the name change lmao

Love when people end a remark with "lmao" to act like they are just making a casual observation while finding the situation hilarious. In reality anyone who is enough of a fanboy to make sweeping generalisations about everyone they disagree with is most certainly sitting there seething every time they see a negative comment :P

My observations of the update are that the ball does move better in general play, it's at least starting to sort of resemble a game worthy of the current millenium, however shooting is still one-dimensional garbage and not helped by the cages they have in place of goals. I still can't get over how ridiculous the "stunning" modifier is, I haven't seen a single instance of someone using a non-stunning cross, so what exactly is the point of it? Might as well just add those trajectories to the normal cross command in a contextual way based on the power bar, distance to the ball etc.

The two matches that I had to abandon earlier today were due to my opponents using some connection cheating software where it lags the connection on my end, making the game unplayable for me. I hope they enjoyed those 3 points. My most recent opponent couldn't handle losing, so towards the end, he tried the same thing, but his shooting was so bad, he could hit a barn door if his life depended on it. Also, my goalkeeper is that damn good. The game ended, and I won. I reported all 3 of them for network tampering.

Offline, against the AI, they have a solid base of a game that they can build around. Does it mean the overall game is good? Nope. There's a lot that needs to be done to get efootball to a level where PES was. This update should have been the beta test that they released back July of last year.

Dream team can go fuck itself with a bag of salted rat dicks. The mode is compromised, and Coinami couldn't give two shits about fixing the issues that is hampering player experience.

The new music, awful, gameplay still the same, lacking the wow factor, 24gb update, 4 a number update, with all that whale money, employ some more people, should b able 2 create matches against mates by now.

Speaking of the music, I could have sworn the lyrics were "You're my empty daughter" and although that obviously makes no sense, who the hell says "Antidote" like that???

Not sure what im missing when people say that this game looks great visually.

I played it on SeriesX and, without hyperbole, it's the wost looking football game i've played since the early 360 days
I haven't seen many people say it looks great. I say it still looks alright, but not for a next (current) gen game.

Well for me yes, the lighting & shades are great and go a long way. The player models are perfectly fine and don't really need to look drastically different for the sake of looking different. They do the job and look like who they're supposed to represent. Yes, the turf and nets are the main regressions but I can live with it for now.

Then again you're talking to a guy that can easily play 15 year old football games and immerses myself. I don't care all that much how game looks so long as it's functional and stimulating.

After all, look at FIFA 22 & 23 on next gen. All the futuristic bells and whistles graphically, yet the game lacks essential football fundamentals.

At least eFootball has some semblance of team pressing & challenge in creating goal scoring opportunities. (offline anyway)

For me the gameplay feels faster because of the nerfed inertia and increased ball speed. The players close down faster and covering spaces better (at least with possession and counter attack tactics). Star players stand out more, i mean they dribble more, like saka in arsenal.

Playing milan derby is quite fun too. Very intense.

Got back from work early... played two Legend AI starter games on fuma... won both 3-0.... I'm not sure, but it feels like the game is a lot...easier?

Anyway, whatever it is, and it will take time to tell what exactly "it" is, I... like it so far? At least offline. I haven't played online but I suspect it will be worse, because for some reason the game runs like a slideshow now. I don't get how a 3060 is struggling to play this game at a smooth 60fps at 1080p on High. That's my biggest concern. It doesn't look smooth at all from a performance standpoint. I'll try shutting down all my tabs, doing a restart and trying again, but still. This is a football game. It shouldn't struggle at all.

Back to the game. I have been reading impressions here as well as the long list of gameplay changes, and I was worried that the nerfed inertia made it more "accessible/arcadey", but while I did win 3-0 on Legend/FUMA both games I played, I don't think it feels arcadey at all.

Like in 1.x, this defender would have never been able to recover his inertia and get ahead of Bale:

Passing feels crisp, the ball maybe travels a little less now? Like I don't think Salah would have made it to this ball in 1.x:

Regular crosses are less floaty than 1.x

Keepers have definitely not been nerfed...

I mean it's just two offline games, and if I can figure out what's causing the performance issues (I really don't want to drop to medium quality), it feels like a step in the right direction, from a gameplay standpoint...

Grass looks like a turd of course. This is on their new San Siro, so, yeah.

Alright. Found it myself without having to install it.

Yes, now I can see what the fuss is all about!
I imagine the admin will apologize tomorrow for any people blinded by the title screen.

Money makes people do the wildest things.

Whoever made those shirt designs should be tried in a court of law for grotesque crimes against fashion & common decency

I wanted to say it might be a cultural issue, because Japanese shows have a certain look that's very... weird. But then I see Kojima's games and they look stunning, as do the menus and art direction. So after two decades of horrible UI, it's fair to blame the general taste of the PES/WE/EF team.

The worst thing about it is we spent a large part of the last decade complaining heavily on the poor presentation in PES. This was supposed to be someyhing the team needed to work on. Yet somehow they managed to take it a level below with the ghastly obnoxious efootball design.

I do agree, only Konami/PES team can consistently make crap UX then somehow make it even worse year after year no matter how bad the previous year was.

i have a feeling they just trolling with us

The game itself is not that disgusting in the way to play, and i don't see how it's a mobile game at all > if it is, then every PS4 PES are.

But the ball physics... Damn, it's the same rhythm all along. Pushing ball 100% even when shooting. Slow or slower passing. Same for shooting.

Can't play a Kicking Ball game with that Ball Physics engine, even if the rest is :"okay, it moves well, controls are good and players seems to position like they should (Seems)". When you don't have any feeling of kicking/tac-tac when you pass and shoots, but only feels like the ball is keeping always the same about all related to rhythm, acceleration/deceleration, rebound, quickness in general...

If they resolve that issue in the future perhaps i may give it a go. Butt for the moment there's in one part the animations, all related to players motions and some defending system, positioning seems okay to great / dribbling > R2 is great for example, defending just ok but still a bit weird... I didn't got big issues, not a fan about the "less physical/assisted" part but i could handle it... To me for a 11v11 games, assistance in defending is important. Should be easier in game to defend than attack > or less midfield battle.

And on the other side you got the most important thing in the game : the ball, which is reacting/acting too weirdly. Like a mix between a basket and volley-ball : the volley feeling when you tap with your hand is the same i got when i see kicking with the fucking big athletes legs and hard as iron.

But most Japanese games don't have interfaces or UI that look like eFootball's either, I think they just can't get rid of their Graphics Designer, he must know some disparaging secrets about upper management and they keep him employed to keep him sweet.

You can always trace it back to the "management". You know management in general is awful. Look at what happened to their roadmap, lol.

I mean there are probably two things at work here, first the requirements: We have these photos of those players and we have to use them for the title screen! No we can't use just one and leave the others out of the title screen, we can't be choosing, use all players! No we don't have other photos, you'll have to use these. And second the time limit: Oh and we need it before you leave today.

You just slap the photos together and you don't even have a choice other than using that ugly box too, otherwise the title would just be unreadable. I mean at this point as a graphic designer, maybe you could do something better, but you just don't give a fuck anymore. 🤣

There's probably no one to say "guys this is terrible we have to do it again" and if there is, there's no time to do anything else about it. They certainly can't go back in time and do different kits & photos, they're stuck with them now!

I think a few people mentioned on here that Konami wouldn't want to bring out offline content any time soon as it would take players away from online and risk losing revenue via coin purchases. However, if they looked at usage stats and looked at trends of usage for people like me, they'd find a lot of people not spending anything on the game and only playing offline friendlies or some Dream Team against the ai only. There must be a lot of money to be made from releasing the offline modes and charging something close to what we'd hav usually paid for an annual PES game. At the moment they are making no money from me and people like me, plus they won't be losing me as an online player as I just don't play online anyway.

Yeah I agree, I think ultimately the entire legacy of eFootball's failings does come down to project mismanagement. But the other fact is, while we all speculate and have some solid theories, we will never truly know other than those that work there, what specific factors went wrong.

What we know is from using other mismanagement games on the record for reference such as WWE 2K20, Cyberpunk, FFXV & even Konami's own MGSV, when games are incomplete or at least have severely cut content, it's usually a result of internal disorganisation, drastic and sudden changes to development roles & politics.

I don't know for a fact if theirs any clue in the games credits as I don't care that much to do any detective work but aside from obvious pressure from clueless investors and suits from the top urging the devs to rush something out when they did last year to get it on the market to compete with FIFA and every other seasonal MTX game, there's clearly some complicated people management bullshit occurring here that leads to so many oddetirs and inconsistencies with this product.

It's a runny narrative, sure, but I don't think it's Purley that Konami are just eccentric & odd and just do weird things for the sake of being confusing and dumb. This is the sort of crap you get once games become less about art and ambition and just another piece of commerce.

That assumes upper management didn't fire the graphic designer, then one of them stood up and went "I'll give it a go, I'm proper good at MS Paint"

Finally the season where Napoli are exclusive to eFootball & Konami, and they kick off the 2023 edition with last season's kits... 😂

Good to know they listened to me and put all the partner clubs in trial mode though...

With a generic stadium - they’re really spoiling us….

To add further insult, we’re not licenced in fifa next year either, so will no doubt have some god awful cycling jersey in that.

What a time to be alive

Is the stutter fixed for PS4 yet?

Haven't played the game for a few months but the fluidity was horrendous compared to the videos I see on here. Not sure if it's specifically my console, other games are fine, but be interested to know if any PS4 users have seen improvements to this.
