eFootball (All Platforms)

So you could say that it's as pay to win as real life football..Real football is also pay to win..but that alone doesn't always guarantees you the success..Look at PSG and Man City..They're ''buying coins'' like crazy but they still bottle it in the Champions League lol.
Not sure getting to a Champions League semi-final and being top of the EPL is the most concrete proof that football isn't always pay-to-win, mate. Every team that remains out of the hands of a multi-billionaire (or a sovereign state) is at an insurmountable disadvantage.

Also, if you're saying football games should be pay-to-win because football is, well done, you are the perfect consumer as far as EA and Konami are concerned. Long live microtransactions and having to spend $100s just to achieve a level playing field!

I didn't say that real football isn't pay to win..but the exact opposite..that it is. But that alone can't buy you trophies..other things are needed too..

And i'm not saying that football games SHOULD be pay to win wtf..In fact my whole long post has examples that you don't really need to be spending real money and you can do well even with the normal players who in many cases are even better than the Featured ones..And the bonuses are not a big enough reason for you to spend..But you have to grind more to get the GP and you have to be good at the game..But no one is forcing you to spend money..If you don't want to grind so much and you want some ready-to-go Featured ones or you love some specific legend and you want to have the chance to get him then it's your choice if you want to spend some money and get him..But you can do fine even without all that.

The premiership has kind of become pay to win. Every team that's won the premiership, bar United and Arsenal have been bough when they were in a bad state and could not have success without external investment. Blackburn were in the equivalent of the championship when Walkers millions bought them the title. City were no where near success before Shinawatra and then the billions of oil money. Chelsea in 85 million debt, which was massive back then before Abramovich's millions. Liverpool were hours from administration before FSG saved them and invested millions. Leicester City were bought out by the Srivaddhanaprabha's. They won the title with a budget but still none of those winners are near any titles without the investment they got. Newcastle were facing relegation before the Saudi takeover and will be a force in the future due to investment. In the older days of the great Liverpool, Leeds, Everton, Forest, Arsenal and united you still needed investment but it was more of a level playing field.

The thing is that these bonuses don't offer any extreme benefits to the point where someone could say that i must use them at any cost or else i'm ruined..Even in myClub the only thing they did was that if you had three specific Featured players for example in your starting eleven who were only obtainable with coins you would get a small bonus of GP after the match..So instead of 1600 if you win you would get 2400 or something..And that was just for a specific event for 3-4 matches..It didn't occur in other normal ranked matches.

It's not a big deal and you would be just fine even without this bonus..Sometimes i remember having these Featured players that it asked for the bonus but i would not even use them because some other player would suit me better..ok i wouldn't get some 800 GP more but it was nothing big really..It's more of a ''ok you give us something..we're gonna give something back to you''..but it's not something super beneficial and you will be fine without it.There was also the Iconic Moments players kit bonus where you would get a +2 or 3 in his stats if you had that specific iconic legend like Vieira for example and you used Arsenal's kits but even that was just for some specific players and you couldn't use it for everyone at once because you would obviously have to change your kits for someone else to get the bonus etc.

And in eFootball the normal players that you get with GP can be even better that the Featured ones in some cases once you get them in high levels. For example the normal one could get to 20-30 level and be a 94 rated but the featured can only get to level 5-7 and be a 92.And with the normal one you can up his playstyle that suits you more comfortably because he has many levels but with the featured one who has much less levels you have to be more cautious with leveling up the playstyle because if you spend all the points on the playstyle then you won't have any to level up his stats. So if you can grind and get the normal ones then there is no real need to spend real money on coins and get the Featured ones.

Now if someone is opening packs like crazy and get all the legends they release every week then you can say that it's pay to win to a point but still that alone doesn't guarantee you the success. You also have to be good at the game. And the majority don't really spend like crazy and you can tell from their teams.Ok they can spend like 20-40 quid/euro through a year and that's it,i also spend around that amount but you can also have a good team without even spending.I've only spent 5 euro till now and i have already a good 2530 strength team. There are people who don't spend anything and don't have the craziest teams but they still doing great because they're good players. And there are others with great teams full of legends but they still struggle because they're not very good at the game.

So you could say that it's as pay to win as real life football..Real football is also pay to win..but that alone doesn't always guarantees you the success..Look at PSG and Man City..They're ''buying coins'' like crazy but they still bottle it in the Champions League lol.

Sure, you're not saying that the game is "pay to win" in the sense that payment ensures winning. But – as has been pointed out by others in this very thread – that's not what p2w is generally taken to mean. Paying confers certain advantages, which keeping other things equal, tends towards winning. Of course it does.

As for "I don't spend much" and "some people spend nothing" – it's neither here nor there. What's most objectionable about this model is that some people, often those who can't afford it, end up spending a huge amount and getting into personal debt. "You don't have to spend" is no piece of advice for a person with compulsive spending problems or a gambling addiction, whose vulnerabilities eFootball, FUT, and myClub are specifically designed to exploit.

Moreover, because such game modes (or in eFootball's case, the entire game) are so effectively able to exploit "whales", the rest of these games suffer in quality. Publishers and developers know that they can deliver subpar, incomplete, buggy products so long as they can tempt the unfortunately inclined to spend a lot of money and others to spend just a little. The gameplay, the depth, the authenticity be damned.

Is n't due to the new license with AFC? I see the new expanded format with 40 teams in AFC CL is present, at least in pesmaster, i don't have the game. From what i understand the deal goes also for the NT competitions, AFC Asian Cup (the respective EURO of Asia), and i assume that they will/would implement the ASIAN Cup in a KONAMI way, the same they did with UEFA EURO 2020(2021) license. Official final stage of the competition fully licensed , with scoreboards/addboards, and only the final stage of the competition, without qualifing stage.

Of course, if any offline mode, is meant to be delivered...someday...
There not only Asia, but also fakes NT in every continent. Same as usual, they weren't in the 0.9.0 or 0.9.1 database.
Only teams with reals names. Now it's back to the same as we have already.

Yes paying confers certain advantages and grinding the game confers certain advantages also. Even if paying wasn't even an option, someone who is grinding the game more than someone else, would have some advantages and that's normal. This happens in every game that has a leveling system.

As for the vulnerable people who can't control their impulses..i think that people should take responsibility of their own actions. There are people who can't control themselves when they're drinking and they become alcoholics..What should we do..ban alcohol all over the world..? There are unstable people who may see a violent movie or listen to a song with explicit lyrics and then do some stupid shit..But we can't ban movies or music just because of that..

Also i don't think that companies don't care about the quality of their product. If the product is total shit then the vast majority of people won't spend their money on it. And buggy games are a common thing these days not because of microtransactions, because it happens in many offline games also that don't have microtransactions. This is a thing because there are patches nowadays and devs know that even if the game isn't 100% complete, they can still release it and then fix any bugs with upcoming patches.

Where to begin with the rampant individualism here...

Games used to be refuge for people away from (among other things) gambling, away from problematic habits. Now many gamers barely have a choice and can no longer use this medium as a relatively exploitation-free form of recreation. If you're into sports games at all, along with FPS games and a host of other genres, you're funnelled into microtransaction-heavy, lootbox-laden modes. "jUsT cHoOsE tO dO sOmEtHiNg ElSe" is a line as bereft of compassion as it is sense.

People deserve better. As do children btw, introduced to these exploitative game mechanics and revenue models without having anything like an informed understanding of the risks. Because they're children.

As for your catastrophising examples: no, we shouldn't ban alcohol, but we should be careful about who we sell it to – e.g., not to children, and not in pubs and shops to very drunk people (note: these prohibitions already exist, crazy isn't it?). We shouldn't "ban movies or music", but we do have a ratings system to stop children seeing stuff that isn't appropriate for them (while we sell gambling to children through games).

The analogy is off though – the relevant idea here is not that of a theme or element in games which inspires bad behaviour (always a dubious claim in the case of film anyway); it's rather that the game itself is the mechanism of exploit: it directly facilitates the problematic behaviour and transacts it. Kind of like a film that only let you watch more of it if you committed violence against strangers. That would be a better comparison. And yeah, in which case: ban that.

Also i don't think that companies don't care about the quality of their product. If the product is total shit then the vast majority of people won't spend their money on it. And buggy games are a common thing these days not because of microtransactions, because it happens in many offline games also that don't have microtransactions. I didn't say that they cared not at all for their product. The quality of their product often does take a nosedive or isn't top of the list of concerns for games that are raking in money through lootboxes and other predatory microtransactions though. The list is a long one of games that even pretty recently released buggy and shit, and the pressures to release early and crunch reflect problems in the industry that go beyond its predatory monetisation models. And yeah, some buck the trend in terms of the kind of game (Cyberpunk e.g.) here, but a substantial majority are GaaS: frontloaded with MTX before solid content, because they know they can generate revenue while fixing stuff on the fly, even rebranding their stability improvements, bugfixes, and completing missing parts as new milestones on the "roadmap".

To be brief : it should be forbidden by the Worlwide Video Game type of legislative stuff who judge and decice. No idea how to call it.
But they don't exist. Unfortunately, it's country by country to handle it.

I only know there's Belgium (where i live) that it's forbidden, so if you try to buy a pack of Card, Steam-Sony-Microsoft would send a message "forbidden in your country".

I think also that if you settle to "France" or whatever country allows it, you can buy packs. But as it's forbidden, it's mentioned on your credit card so... At their risk.
No idea if it's reported or not to the authorities, it's not like when you buy a gun.
Well the majority is 18 y.o. but you can't gamble or enter in a Casino (hahaha, like if they cares) if you're not 21 years old.

Yes V.G. was supposed to refuge youth for gambling. More now than ever...
As i remember, 20 years ago, ISS Pro 2 that there was youths gambling (not big amount, but still, if it's everyday...) against each other for more adrenaline... Well you could gain something in return, and some refused knowing they would lost lol, but i remember one continuing again and again, loosing 10 euros by 10 euros, he was kinda hot blooded in the same time.

Well i don't say it's better. Gambling is bad in every sense, as i know more than one who got the gambler illness, just that the degree they reached with packs is... Gambling, dream selling 2.0
Here, we got gambling but on one side, it's more buying pack for winning matches, no money back.

They found something even smarter than Casino! Even more than in Japan : you can't have money if you won on Pachinko or whatever machine. But gifts, like on fun fair etc.

Much more countries should do something against it. But i think we need to wait more and more games for governments got an interest about it. I don't see a single Country that would allows it (perhaps USA lol)

EDIT(part 2 lol)
The way it always been on others type of games; Like Dead Or Alive, character you should have when you buy the full game. No obligation to paid, You could still play for free, without giving a single cent to the company. But want everything in more for nothing, it's ain't logic for work behind game and people who worked on it. It's not a way to sell thing i found honest at all, it's still carrott and stick stuff as playing for free during a certain time create an addiction.

The one type i accept totally : characters pack like in MK with a story for each one, who doesn't belong to the main games. Never been annoyed by Terminator/Robocop/Rambo for MK Season packs, or DLC in Souls series. They worked to create those characters and levels to give a re-boost to the game very well worked and balanced : it can't be free. Remember the "sequel" of SFII at full price for some add. To me it was even more an fraud when you remember the price of each cartridge.

I, sadly, think this plague needs to get much, much worse than this for more governments to start do something. It's the classic thing they'll conveniently ignore until the damages, or the general indignation will reach unsufferable limits. No idea how far we are from that.

I wonder how would this work because i don't have any pace up front, as a pace merchant substitution CF who can also jump(Has Heading and Aerial Superiority skills) because my team is composed of high acceleration midgets

Or just waste 300k on Son

What a strange title this is so far. I skipped all versions until this v1 and was initially pleasantly surprised...then sort of loving it...then really hating every single kick, and now find myself at a stage of conditional acceptance.

I'll go with them with what they want to do with the free-to-play thing and regular updates but they better be pretty substantial over the coming year to the point I feel like I am playing at the very least an incredibly polished version of whatever it is they are looking to do here. After that, they need to ramp up the animations, massively.

I find myself switching this on and and having a few games v. AI on Super Star or Legendary with a squad or two and always feeling like I am on the cusp of getting it, only for the next night to roll around and I am back to square one.

They have a lot to fix, a lot add, and if they do they might have a game that proves more than mere brief distraction for an hour or so at best whenever I switch it on.

And my god top of the list of fixes has to be better response and greater feeling of athleticism and agility to players. Not asking for FIFA levels here in response (though they could do with taking some notes) but just little things like 2nd touch after the 1st on controlling some passes and air-balls in particular with high technique players. On this it is too often 1.....2, when it really should be 1-2. At least more frequently than that apparent.

PSA : If you are a gunner, signing Martinelli will give you a special prompt of signing a ''special player'' with a different card design.

Made it to div 4 with regular p n p arsenal squad with no legends. The games idea of matchmaking is matching you with div 1s and 2s with god squad to make it a slug. Lost 2 games with teams with 10 men, while in older pes, playing against 10 men used to be such a huge advantage. I have to say defending has a quite a curve too, came across a guy who knew when to press and choked me the entire game.

Also for the first time ever in my online footy journey, someone dm'ed me saying they liked how i played. At least, this game retains the ability to reflect the character of your play style, somewhat. Its not a fifa style cookiecutter match every game that funnels you to a particular playstyle although, i have seen certain youtubers play the fifa way.

So it's nearly the end of season 1 & I've played this game everyday since season 1 launched. The game needs a lot of work but I'm a big fan of Dream Team which is something I never thought I'd say, I've even set up a second PS5 user account for a GP only youth squad.

I've always hated playing football games online with a passion but I'm absolutely hooked on this. I feel like I can compete & outplay the spammers. It's fun, rewarding & the squad building & player development feels like I'm playing a master league of sorts.

Konami still have lots of work to do but it's scratched a football itch that's been missing for a good while.

Played some nice Matches against Superstar AI on English Tour. 1-1 vs Brighton and a 1-0 victory against Wolverhampton.

But this shows the game really needs Master League or at least a League mode and all Teams unlocked. Playing against the AI is really fun and I think I would really enjoy playing a Premier League Season with this AI as opponents.

When do they expect us to give us basic offline league mode? Will that be part of free edition?
I have not touched eFootball 2022. Still am enjoying UML Master League on 2021.
But when i hear AI is better than in 2021, am intrigued.
a) Does the AI slow down, dribble, use skill moves near the human player's penalty area?
b) Do all teams keep the ball as well as PES 2021 did. That was most infuriating. Every team passed the ball from the back like peak Barca.
c) Do you see variety of AI? Some teams keep the ball, some go long ball?

Sorry am tuned out of the eFootball news. Did Konami mention any dates for the offline player modes?

AI indeed better, shooting from distance, dribbling, no tiki taka and ping pong passing, this game feels good in a lot of aspects despite its flaws
Never played online but offline with unlocker for more teams is a blessing
Hope to see offline modes as soon as possible but I expect it to arrive in August or even later since they stated last months it won’t be for now

Getting loads of joy in dribbling response by barely pressing the sprint trigger. It is all relative to the player you are controlling of course but noticing that doing it with players that have sole control and/or high dribble and balance stats do these little high-speed rolls, touches and adjustments that I hadn't seen before. Also noticed that in the controls it mentions letting go of the directional stick while dribbling will see your player adjust his approach to the ball. It appears a touch temperamental or there is some stupid secret additional input either not explained or left for "discovery" to making it happen on command (hate that secret controls stuff!) but it is there.

Cross Specialist playing style standing out rather nicely in my opinion in recent games I have played.

Regarding AI, PES2021 is so primitive compared to eFootball 2022 in almost every aspect. If this 2022 gets all 2021 offline modes it would be huge fun to play.

Isn't that just "no touch dribbling", which has been in the game since PES 2018? Unless I'm getting it mixed up with something else.

Holy moly! That sounds impressive!
Here I'm impressed with what the AI does in 2021. You are making me try the game!
