eFootball (All Platforms)

Yep this was also part of my review, and not just once this happens, you can exploit it heavily everytime when in such situations.
There are millions of problems with the gameplay after playing for hours the past couple of days.

Also for online play, It really depends on who is the host in this pseudo Peer 2 Peer system on how the gameplay reacts aswell. Not that I have any problems anyway, but when not the ''host'' even though your buttons are still as responsive as they are, the players on the pitch really have a harder time knowing where the ball is. Allthough im used to adapting to the lag, its a fun way of seeing a different kind of lag, and it is better then the button delay lag on the last generation PES games I guess, but it makes this already flawed simplified gameplay even more wonky and funny to look at.

And I still think putting a timing game on a Trigger button is the worst thing i've seen in terms of button layout. I never ever saw a timing game on an analog trigger button. The stunning modifier therefore doesnt work half the time for me on PC, It depends a bit on the controller, how my travel is set of my trigger. Losing a lot of freedom there.

Its hilarious when animations kick in randomly where they shouldnt aswell, or seeing how on rails this game is when the nicely railed connection from player to ball gets broken and the game is pinging the player to re-allocate the ball making some players go into overdrive sliding into the same animation 5 times in a row. Cant even super cancel to the ball as a loose entity to override the game... as it is that much on rails.

Oh and the shooting....Man... Having 7-0 games online in event mode one after another today and not a single goal feels nice. Trajectories are bland, the wind up of a shot feels fabricated. The normal quick shooting while you dont even have your body in the right balance or in place feels laser targeted.

The game has an extreme amount of extra video game sauce on it, not a sim in my book and what i expect of a football to the simulation side. Having more fun ''off the pitch'' myself, and taking on the pitch for what is is. You get some video game mechanics to emulate football a bit on the basic side, you can pass around and the inner workings of marking and all that jazz is in. But without ball simulations or even player momentum, foot planting, inertia

All in all, it feels super simplified. It does make for a better videogame for casual audience as well. But the little details I love about pes, The joy of shooting PES5 gave me while i was full on into FIFA 2006 was a world of difference and kept making the difference... That... Is non existent at this moment.

Maybe I will not get the type of football depth I want simulated back for a while in the football gaming scape with UFL and GOALS coming out aswell looking to do the same ultimate team-y thing. They all seem to want to emulate the same space of type of game.

To me this aint 1.0, this is 0.1. Because atleast, the basics work.... And thats nice for a Live Service game like Forntnite, Rocket League, Warzone etc which puts updates out every month. But will Konami? Lets hope!

It's like some people play completely different games. Is that legend difficulty? What was the keeper's reflex values?

I only know this from PES21, you can just run full speed around the keeper and he won't change his trajectory.

In eFootball for me you need to make a fake shot OR sharp touch at the right moment to fool the keeper. Else the trajectory is perfectly adjusted. I even had Kahn go full berserk and super human like blocked my lop.

I just spent 20mins trying to recreate this issue in training mode on superstar difficulty so I can send it to Konami. 20/20 times Mendy successfully adjusted his trajectory. So not sure, what's the issue here. Someone can reproduce this bug?

EDIT: Tried Allison as well and also worked 20/20 times.

The dreamteam thing could actually be good if the game would have some sort of balance preventing you from ending up with a team consisting of only Mbappe, Neymar, Mess, van Dijk etc, etc which will be the case in a couple of weeks. Then the game will be FUT. It's of course what they want but the idea of different playing styles, grinding players in training etc is quite fun.

The best thing imo would be if the game would have some sort of fantasy football restriction. Like, if you have Neymar, Mbappe and Messi you can't have the rest of the team with equally good players. So the game force you to balance your team. That would add depth and actually make you think how you can optimize your team in regards to your playing style and players. Because now people will just stack the best players and online Dreamteam will be hell, hmm, next weekend should we say?
I've been wanting that since pes11 MLO lol.
But yr after yr they've been moving the opposite direction. Last few yrs it's common to see ppl field the best XI before they even kick a ball.
This yr is another step up. Like you I've only played a handful of games, but every team I've faced has had 5 legends, CR7 & the rest filled with elites. One guy even had all his players levelled up to 90-95, day one ffs.
No stamina effect between matches as well lol.

They can't name their new pay2win mode 'Dreamteam' and put restrictions in. Gambling addicts would have no reason to pay money to get a slightly better player than the week before.

No longevity in a mode they'll be resetting and regurgitating for the next few yrs.

Always bothered me that the thousands of players in the pes database over the years have been nullified. Just pick the highest Overall no. in each position & done.
I miss the hexagon days.

Why can you unlock all the teams on pc but on console we get 9 teams and unable to play online with regular teams ? This makes no sense.
To me this game is just an online game like Fortnite to make you buy coins to improve your dream team. This is total bs !!!

Anyone have any idea how I can change the ingame language? It's set to Portuguese for me (correctly) but I'd like to change it to English somehow...
Which platform? On PC, you need to change the language of the game in Steam.

Hi

I haven't played my club or even pes since 19 version

In dream time you can change formation with Eben the default manager so is the new coaches Purley to enable your players play to full ratings or should I be looking into other things too ?

Cheers
The managers influence your team playstyle level and they can also increase the experience gains of certain players.

I said just a few hours ago that the lag in AI decision-making (like they're watching the game with a delay) was making my goalkeeper stand and watch at the opposite post as people smashed the ball into an empty net. I had seen it offline too, but see it much more often online. This isn't a rare occurrence at all in my experience. (I'll grab a clip next time but thanks to TheKnight, we already have a fairly good one.)

If it helps, I'm playing on PS5, TheKnight is playing on PC I think. But it's a cross-platform game so it'll happen everywhere.

EDIT: This bizarre movement from Maguire is also an example of something I'm seeing often (and did in PES 2021) - particularly the hard-braking he applies for absolutely no reason towards the end of the clip that stops him reaching the ball. All symptomatic of the same core AI issues. (No "Maguire, that's realistic then" jokes please, people. Too easy.)

Yup, this stuff is baked in. Like you say, it's there in the most recent PES games too. It's infuriating. I'm only able to have fun with these games to the extent I can ignore this shit when I play them haha.

I'm 100% certain it's not my 150mb/s, sub-10 ping, fibre-to-the-property internet, when I'm based around the Liverpool area and faced players with UK in their name (one of whom was a Liverpool fan, but could live anywhere in fairness).

Every game I've played today has been the same. If you play offline, then play online, and you can't see the lag and the huge holes players leave because they're running to where they should have been a second before... I don't know what to say to you.
Tonight I tried online for the first time in months and I totally get where all the scrutiny comes from. They feel like two different engines even. Offline has been a pleasant delight meanwhile the online is the usual latency ridden spazfest where anything you pull of feels more like pure luck than skill.

I have to say I don't notice a huge difference between offline and online, not so far. I'm only accepting 5-bar opponents and I'm always connected via LAN (but I imagine you guys are too).

I don't know why it's so bad for some and good for others. Is it possibly something as silly as bad ISPs? I know Virgin are often regarded as particularly shit in this respect.

Anyway, I don't doubt your experience but just find it bizarre how varied it can be.

That's the stuff you see in every pes and fifa for that matter.

This one is actually easily explained. Only the selected AI player is actively pressing / defending against a striker. The moment Maguire stopped was when the AI switched to the other player. So the AI set Maguire to go back to defend free spaces / other players.

I find it funny that if you played exhibition match with 3 AI on the same team, they will coordinate a lot better and issues like these never happen because there is always a selected player for the players near the ball. I even joked about it in PES21 and claimed that the game would be much better if you had 2 additional "fake" AI players on both teams. And just let you override control over them when you switch players.

This game started to create about a year and about a month after the summit and they haven't done it for two years. Let's just hope that this is the basis and that they will only upgrade through updates

Twenty seconds of video are better than thousand words and they say a lot about the strong arcade turn taken by the latest version compared to 0.91.
Context would be nice , game speed etc fifa on slow doesn’t look like that even without applying sliders it’s easy to make fifa look as fast as you want. Equallly I can slow it down to walking in mud slow.

That's just the Maguire player ID. Amazing realism from Konami

Overall it’s not terrible seeing it’s free however my mind boggles... I have PC and PS5 ... why on earth konami locks certain teams and features on console is bizarre ... will bib in and out on the game, just glad I have the modded pes21 game for master league !!

Yes...
But, ignoring Fifa, the comparison between 0.91 and 1.0 is very impressive.
They have simplified the movements of players: now they are too fast and seem less heavy, without inertia.
They are too easy to handle in lateral movements and the pace of gameplay is too high, arcadish style,

I don't see movement like that in my game on version 1..This video looks like it's sped up or something..I'm on ps5..I don't know if different versions have a different feel to them or something but atleast on ps5 the movement is still heavy and full of inertia..In fact it has so much inertia that i would even prefer it to be a bit less heavy and a bit more responsive because it feels like you're playing charity matches with 50 year old retired players some times..

In the last couple of days i've read many totally opposite opinions for that matter in different forums..I don't know what it is and if it's because of different versions or people's connection quality or they're just so different from eachother when they mean ''fast'' or ''slow''..Some are saying that it's very fast and arcady and some that it's very slow..For those that say that it's very fast and weightless i don't know what they're smoking or what game they're playing but we're surely don't play the same game..

Compared to 21 it's surely more heavy and slower..Compared to the pre-alpha 0.9 dogshit version that it was before yes it's a bit faster but that version was just unplayable in every aspect and it felt like you're playing with handicapped 80 year olds and you're constantly fighting with your controller..Version 1 is much better in every aspect although it still has issues with awareness etc but it's just the beginning and it will have much time to improve..Personaly i would want it a bit faster and a bit more responsive than it is now..and saying that i hate arcady feeling and i much prefer a more sim approach..I just don't understand how people can say that this version is too fast and too weightless and arcady..When i read that i just don't get it and i don't see that in my game..It's like we're playing two totally different games with this people..

Insofar as this explanation even makes sense (e.g., the AI "switching" players as though human and only able to control one thing at a time), it doesn't make it any better. You can find an explanation for something shit and it only underscores the fact it's shit. How is the AI programming (however it works) remotely defensible?

After splurging on Firmino and Jota with my Konami apology monnies, I am now gradually filling up my Liverpool team with players. And what's crazier, I am enjoying playing the game. The problems I had with the Dream Team gameplay seem to be mostly gone. passing on manual is still often a bit off, the game likes to think I am passing to some other player, even when I make what look to me to be perfectly weighted passes. I hate the white line that shows up with R3 player switching, I haven't found out how to turn it off. And a minor one but why do I have to change the ball before each match if I don't want the eFootball one?
Amazingly, I now have that "one more game" feeling when playing this. Even with the AI often breaking my heart in the final moments of a game (I have won 2 matches of maybe 12-14?) I haven't felt cheated yet so it just makes me want to get back in there. So I even though I will barely venture online and never buy points or any crap like that, it looks like Konami have actually somewhat won me over with their bullshit new game...

I wonder if they'll be adding accumulated fatigue next week or in the future. Seems quite a big omission with no penalty for playing the same players match after match.
Also injuries.

Cuz it seems that they forgot the Form (fatigue accumulation) and Injury frequency effects in that mode

The biggest thing that pisses me off with this franchise is not the false advertising regarding the next gen game , it's not that this game is not even 30% complete , it's the fact that the AI is miles better than 21 and they could have given us a really good game if they had patched 21 whilst waiting for a somewhat finished 22
