eFootball (All Platforms)

Give me a full modded efootball and the best ML offline you have never seen and maybe only maybe I would install again

I feel Konami should adopt the Season 1 dashboard app icon colour into the overall game to replace the blue & yellow look. And for the love of god make the overall UI better, the menu screen is so basic.
What's interesting is that there's different colour schemes in the dream team mode, The card templates and even the new Season 1 banner - Which looks infinitely better and more familiar with the 2021 theme used during promos.

Why they didn't update the overall theme to signal this truly is a big bang period for them is a mystery.

No, by no means NO!
I never said that ef2022 was perfect. It was a half finished project, a rushed tech demo for me, nowhere near perfect.
I just appreciated the bold and the mindset of proposing something new and innovative.
Momentum/inertia was maybe a bit exaggerated in earlier version, but close control and footplanting was very good.

As for the fact that people tend to prefer what is familiar to them is simple psychology.
Soccer gaming = constant sprinting + ping pong passing + spectacular goals.

The concept of blocking the path of a pass , covering the space was very good. Now defending is running after the attacker, steal the ball without any presence of physics. Just like PES did since 1997.
I suggest that you swap the x command with L2 for matchup (as in ver0.9.1). The blocking path of pass and covering space are still there imo

Granted, "perfect" was my exaggeration of your view. My bad.

I think we're going to disagree on how bold the ideas were, in respect of inertia. For me, it's important to set in context why they wanted an increased sense of player weight – that context was provided by pretty much every Kimura interview* and the trailers they released. Namely, they wanted people to have the feeling of "beating" a man 1-on-1, and they wanted to replicate that all over the pitch. They called it "the essence of football".

Whereas what it really amounts to is a fetish of the esports scene which emphasises oneupmanship and "skill gaps" over all else, such that the sport the game supposedly simulates is an afterthought. Not to mention, also, that focusing on 1-on-1 battles, in tandem with a new zooming camera, was likely designed to work well on small screens.

So I'm far less inclined to couch the momentum/inertia side of earlier builds in the language of boldness and innovation. The decision fits quite well into a logic of pandering to modern gaming trends, which they thought they could profit greatly from.

*speaking of those interviews – anyone notice how we've not heard a peep from him this time? Maybe someone at Konami figured out that every time he spoke about the game, it elicited a massive groan from many sectors of the PES fanbase...

I've read a few comments defending Konami, saying they have to preserve the eFootball brand as it's already out there, giving the world headaches as it spews around Old Trafford et al.

It's nae like it's Coca-Cola, lads. Given the disastrous launch and dim perception, an early move away from that ID would've been a good thing.

I think the "stunning" parts work quite well, even on manual settings. In my few online matches I tried so many times to do stunning crosses but was usually closed down because they take ages. And using the stunning modifier as a way to head the ball downwards seems like a neat idea too, although I haven't managed to pull that off yet.

Konami tried something innovative.
The acceptance was not good due to the fact that people are not willing to change their way of playing.
They want a modern soccer but playable with PES 6 style. Quick, unnaturally reactive players who stop a turn like robot vacuums and frantic action.
They praise an "update" which downgraded the game technically, but made it more playable according to PES 5-Pes2021 standards.
Too bad.
All the potentian of the first version is now gone.
This is exactly what happened from PES 2014 to PES 2015.
Innovation -> hate -> Back to obsolete style -> Love.

If you want change, you must change.
And this applies to soccer gaming as well.

The problem with this for me is that Konami never gave us incentive to change. They want to make a completely new game? That's fine with me. Had the eFootball 2022 release been a full game with the same gameplay, I would have given it a real chance. I would have started Master League, played some Euros or WC with Iceland, tried playing a league with Liverpool, you know, the usual stuff I do with a new PES. Maybe I would have fallen off, and maybe, just maybe I would have gotten used to the new gameplay and even started preferring it.

But Konami gave us 9 teams and 5 minute friendlies for offline with fixed difficulties. I'm not spending time getting used to that garbage, gtfo Konami with your free-to-play bollocks. Hell, I even quite like the new version gameplay at first glance but it doesn't really matter because THEY LITERALLY DON'T WANT ME TO PLAY IT

Ah, Konami. You really messed up and you made up for it by messing up again.

Anyone enjoying the continuous play function? You could play a whole match almost and never go into cutscenes except for goals. You can start off straight away from any position. Even goal kicks you can do a quick one before the defence settles.

Anyone have any idea how I can change the ingame language? It's set to Portuguese for me (correctly) but I'd like to change it to English somehow...

How the heck you can run and dribble in this version ? Does any one manage to make a decent run with the ball? Always the defenders are faster , fastest

Yes it's quite easy: Change pace and do rapid turns. Just slow down, wait for the defender to do something dumb like run full speed at you, then just run in the opposite direction of his approaching direction with a sharp touch. You don't even have to use sharp touch, you can also just do 1 step to the side without even sprinting.

When you use double sprint to get full speed but the defender still catches up, you need to use shielding to give you some space. So when a defender touches your back (you see him stretch out his arm towards your shoulder), you just tap Shielding once, then quickly sprint away with sharp touch. As long as the defender is on your back, you will never lose the ball this way.

Dream team. You can choose all difficulties even legend.
Thanks! I am new to the whole dream team concept, any way i can find out how i can get to this an an offline mode there?all I can find is events that can be played online, Sorry for my basic questions :)

Does the cursor even change with manual settings? It seems that the stunning modifier didn't work at all with manual settings no matter when you timed the R2 press. It made sense, since it's more like a boost in assistance...

Oh i think i found it!

If i'm not mistaken konami did mention about the manual-stunning issues in the inbox or something

The cursor doesn't change but the modifier still works, you can tell by the longer animation when shooting/passing

The assistance boost bit we hope isn't applied. So more just a power/trajectory modifier, sort of how L1 worked on PES in manual settings.

The modifier does get triggered with R2 - note the longer wind-up animations. The weird thing is that for shooting only, sometimes the bar changes to purple. It's glitchy.

Interesting. I'll keep an eye out for that. In that case, what the R2 would do on manual is better time the shot (using extra animation cycles) while keeping your manual power and direction input, and selecting a special shot trajectory as dictated by the player traits (e.g. rising/dipping shots)

scripting at an all time high like it was in pes 2022

the game and the difficulty ITS SCRIPTING

probably will die in some months this way

Did some tests last night and Konami have a bug with the power up bar for full manual.

Stunning modifier works on manual but the bar dosent turn blue for some reason unless your in the 6 yard box and trigger it. That was the only time it changed. I could see it working and working rather consistently on manual, just the bar should change colour like on the assisted settings.

Nonsensical comparison. Why are you comparing edit mode to an online gamemode?

Coz nowadays by eFootball TM 2022 Konami's standards that's the only customization and the only way you can edit your player stats somehow by pushing cash into cards ("optionally") and level up or boosting them permanently like in some sort of low rated RPG...

"bu...but doesn't matter!!! coz its free, right...?"
