Bruh, my goal keeper got stuck and wouldn't move sideways no matter how much I pressed my keys.
Doesn't seem like a bug. It's how its seemed to be designed.

Basically I have that small fraction of second to move left and right and then the keeper will just stay in that position like a tree until the shooter kicks the ball and I can make the jump.

In my opinion, I should be able to move the keeper until the very end so that I can adjust my position. Should only jump when I press the dive buttons.

I am now 70+ multiplayer matches in with only 2 lost.
The amount of control (or no control if you suck) there is, is just next level! Never have I had so much control over every aspect of a player's behavior.
You guys should play 10+ matches while trying to play it like a new game instead of PES. Because it's eFootball now and everything has changed!

People who just hold sprint get punished with 5+ goals against them. People who don't know how to defend with match-up and physical tackle will get many goals against them. People who only ping-pong pass or don't know how to shield/dribble will never even touch the inside of the box.

This is peak football.

For me Konami only needs to fix the bugs, improve the graphics and performance and the game is perfect.

All of this full backlash coming was the entire reason why they were so shy and silent about "showing some gameplay" before release, or not being transparent about their "demo-like" app during those last months. They even lied about the NFGOPT that in the end was (ironically speaking) a better version of the product.
I hope they'll flop in the worst case scenario as company for misleading people into preordering lootboxes and for lying during the last year the entire community.
I saw lots of games failing during my entire life and also shady publishers, but I never saw any company acting so dishonest at this high level creating a disaster that speaks volumes.

fucKonami !!!

There are some gameplay aspects that are actually, in theory, better than PES 2021. Their execution however, is shockingly terrible. I see a flash of brilliance here and there, but it is constantly followed by a ridiculous instance. Every aspect of the game seems half-assed. But I still see some potential if they work really, really, really, and I mean REALLY hard on the game.

The thing is, even if they fulfill all that potential, the game will still be made for people who enjoy online, pay-to-win games. This is made specifically for that purpose, you can see it in the execution. I can't imagine playing a full season of Master League with this kind of gameplay, no matter how much they perfect it, it would be so unrealistic.

As much as I am happy for a couple of guys here in this thread that are saying "This is cool, I can finally do dribble tricks now" and "This feels so fun, me and my dad constantly laugh at the game", you guys already had FIFA for that. I feel sorry for all the people who are just looking for a realistic gameplay to keep playing offline mods because that is what we have officially lost today.

I'm a little scared of the moment in which older PES games get boring to me and I have to call it quits when it comes to playing games because I have nothing to upgrade to..

I get that some people will actually prefer this type of gameplay, it's reasonable and expected. But peak football!? Perfect!? What???

Satire? Surely this is satire?

TBH, I don't think I'll ever get tired of the older titles. I came into PES late (2017), and there's so much to discover and play, the depth of the leagues and so many mods and option files the possibilities are endless. Honestly in my case I don't think I will need to upgrade unless something that is worthy appears. For now, I'm good with all the mods. :TU:

Dev budget must have gone completely into securing licensing and marketing. Game is a shambles of biblical proportions.
Also FIFA 22 is no good, sliders or not.

Stick with PES 2021 and the mod community.
And only five licensed Italian teams I think. Gutting
Adam Bhatti was the worst thing to happen to PES and its community.
Why? Because you expect someone employed by Konami to promote the game to be publicly negative about all of its shortcomings? Yh that would definitely put food on the table.

No, its not personal with Adam. I am trying to express that there were countless other people who merited that role more, who were actually engaged with their community in good faith.

I understand what Adam's role is and respect his hustle as it were, but I am free to also criticise his role in leading the community to much more negative space.

He is PR but he does not do a good job of that either, there are many PR/community managers in franchises and games exponentially larger than Pro Evo that freely engage with their community, don't disrespect people, block people for opinions that hurt the image of the brand etc.

I only played one game, so I don't want to comment on the gameplay just yet, other than that I did not think it was as terrible as I had assumed from reading early reviews.

But everything else--none of which is as high a priority as gameplay--is sorely lacking.

It's a bit insane how long it takes for menus to load (edit: on PC) too, given how little seems to be rendered.

The shooting is so incredibly dull. Every shot is flat and floaty. Even the finesse shot - for some reason they mapped it to R1, which is also used as the fake shot / cancel button, causes a lot of mistakes for me.
At least in PES 2020 + 21 there were a handful of shooting traits which were generously handed out to even division 2 players on most teams and added some nice variety.
Efootball just feels like I’m kicking a beach ball every time I go to shoot

So true. Everyone gets criticized if they deserve it. This company does not listen to their fans. They don't engage with us and don't want us on board like other bigger companies and games do. All they do is get defensive and block people. The fact he's on board with all this, accepts and encourages it tells a lot about him.

What they've been consistent at is lieing and giving us the middle finger every year. So in return, especially after this mess, I reserve the full right to equally respond and say fuck him and Konami.

Welp, the reviews gone up by 1%.

The utter ignorance and silence from Konami side is appalling at best, and now look where it takes them.

I mean, it’s not just PES. Pretty much all the IPs they have is milked to death for profit.

Most of the positive reviews are people being sarcastic, ive gone through a lot of them
Positive reviews would make less than 3%

Another thing i have noticed, player face models from pes21 are not in this version, they're back to generic. I forget which players but defintiely some. I think Aaron Ramsdale is one.

Why would they suddenly not be in the game?

They have yes and personally I don't mind it.

It was just too much and too easy to apply crazy constant pressure in the previous PES using this feature.

Yeah I don't mind it being gone but interesting enough they added a new attribute called "Defensive Engagement".

I moved to the other side. It's a massive learning curve after so many years away and still has some FIFA issues but it plays a proper game and feels next gen. It clicked when I used Thiago to make a slide rule strong pass (R1+x) to take out the Man City defense and put Salah through 35 yards from goal. It's the kind of pass you couldn't really pull off in Fifa before (and if you could, would look really contrived) .. but was a staple of PES (especially in manual). This time, the weight of the pass felt perfect, and Salah's touch was perfect, which resulted in a desperate lunge from Cancelo to stop him. That foul also felt very human and realistic - a hallmark of Pep's tactical snidey fouls even😂. I think I've found my football fix that's surprisingly decent and not a coping mechanism from the demise of PES. 😂

Downloaded it last night - better than I thought. Good general gameplay philosophy. Individual battles with physicality are good. animations don't seem smoother than the last version I played a couple of years ago. Goalkeepers made some great saves.

On level 3 passing I liked the errors I saw in through balls/shooting...but they need to tone down the sensitivity of the button presses. Seemed to be quite easy to overpower a through ball compared to a pass. Shooting error was good but sometimes went overboard and sometimes lacked enough power given the context.

Daytime lighting has way too much contrast though (playing on an xbox one with HD tv, not 4K or HDR). From light to heavy shadow is a big difference during gameplay. On some angles and replays it looks fine.

But it's essentially a demo...needs more work and it could be really good. But seems like months away...

Well I tried it on ps4. There's potential for a good game here. But then again there's been potential for a good game since I returned to PES in 2017.

That said, that doesn't dismiss anything I said about the game earlier today; there's absolutely no excuse for the 'game' to be released in this state. Because this isn't a demo. This is an official release.

I really like what they did with the dribbling. Dribbling should be about using your momentum and abusing your opponent's lack of control of theirs. I got the hang of it quickly and it feels like I'd be able to do that in eFoot.

The defensive change makes sense and is reminiscent to a change fifa made years ago that I liked. Anything that reduces auto tackles is a plus in my book. On ball defending shouldn't be easy.

I can see what they're trying to do with L2? mechanic. It's as if they've taken the old defensive mechanics and shoved it into 1 button. Curious to see how they tune it.

I don't hate this. But I'm still disappointed at the overall state of this. Visually the game is dreadful on ps4. Has to be one of the worst visual experiences I've had on the console. It lagged from time to time. I saw the very well publicizing body deforming interactions.

And the AI is still brain dead in regards to sensing and dealing with imminent threats. I watched my CBs run away from attacker dribbling into the box. And yes I know why defenders don't defend as a group because they want to highlight the beauty of the 1v1. Why they are so heavily focused on 1v1s in a team sport is beyond me.

All of these things are completely unacceptable.

That said, these ultimately are not the reasons I have no plans on playing this game long term. There was no fixed cursor and I only ever play fixed cursor. And currently there's no ML or BAL. My preferred way to play doesn't currently exist in eFoot. So I have no reason to play it.

One last note on tuning, because this actually worries me. We are at the mercy of the myclub players; they are the priority because they play the priority mode. And they tend to be rather vocal as well. So if they think defending is too hard, Konami will likely change it. Shooting too hard? Same thing. Dribbling? Passing? Tempo of the game? Ditto.

It's all well and good implementing changes, as long as you stick with them and improve them. You shouldn't just toss them because whales and dolphins aren't happy with them.

I'll give it a go on pc and if I have any different thoughts I'll share them too.

Edit: I wasn't expecting it to look that bad on PC. Wow. Not much else to say at this point.

100% agree on the inertia and dribbling.

Ultimately I think this is a poor poor release overall but I can't get my head around people genuinely thinking the dribbling is better in 2021, like what. They feel worlds apart. I could NEVER have defenders dancing like this in 2021.

Ronaldo ripping Otamendi
I'm struggling with dribbling. Can't do that speed burst in 1st vid. Or any decent dribbling in and about defenders, feels unresponsive. Plus defenders just walk through my manual shielding. Have to spend some time in training I think to unlearn the muscle memory stuff.

Played some online tonight. Positives - blocking passing lanes actually work. Midfield battles might be a thing this year.
The loose ball physics are decent. Even against full assisted users, doesn't seem to be as on rails.
I personally like the defending changes. No gegenpress + 2nd press provides less hot potato football. Most probably won't like this, but it's the main reason I haven't touched online in 4 - 5 years.
I was able to play relaxed, chilled football successfully against these impatient, redbull fuelled maniacs online. Connection was decent, and every goal I scored was completely different.

Biggest annoyance (that's not been mentioned much) is the gameplan functionality & anti user friendly. Slow, laggy, and necessarily complicated. something that should take 2 button presses takes 10x as long with multiple menus & pop ups.

Anybody having issues on Xbox Series X?

My mate can't get into the online section. Freezes n crashes almost every time he tries.
Worried it'll do damage to the console. Didn't Ps4's have something similar happen a year or 2 ago?

"This feels so fun, me and my dad constantly laugh at the game"
Well, in the post where I wrote that I didn't really mean it as a positive actually, I meant it as in me and my dad were laughing at the game because a lot of things in it were very ridiculous, like the players getting distorted during physical battles, and sometimes getting stuck at nothing, so, like, when seeing one of our favorite franchises ever sink this low we can do one of two things, either we start crying or we laugh at the whole situation, we chose to do the latter, though today when we tried playing it again we were both more upset, it got a little less funny and the whole game just started to frustrate us in many ways.

To be fair, I did find a solution to the weak short passing which I mentioned in previous posts, and that is the assistance, the more manual your passing assist, the easier it is to do stronger passes, when I switched to manual, which I'm used to due to previous titles, it felt better, however my dad is very old fashioned and still uses the directional buttons instead of the analog stick, so he's only got 8 directions to work with, which would actually make a less assisted setting more limited, so my dad still can't get enjoyment out of short passing at all because he has to play on full assisted and the ball rolls like it's stuck in mud there for some reason, so the game to him is pretty much unplayable, also all of the other issues are still there regarless of pass assistance, for both him and I, it's just not a pleasant experience.
