eFootball (All Platforms)

I feel your pain. I too have friends moving to Fifa who I would normally play PES with every day, online.
It turns out that I have more integrity and self respect than they do, so thats nice :)
I buyed both every year, except 21, and sold 19 (couldn't for the 20 as it's digital : i "won" 175 euros of PSN cards, and didn't buyed it, so... But i was super pissed then : i hesitated to buy another game instead, but out the next month. Lost 60 euros then as i played 6 games and "no it's not for me.
Too easy to dribble, pass, score, physics not took in consideration / same in every difficulty even if got a bit harder to defend.
I erased the game as i didn't had enough storage, with no regret. But FIFA 22 seems way better from what i've readed. Well, not Fifa 14 just in terms of balance level (sorry but FIFA 16 vanilla is not an example of "balanced game" > attack oriented. And i hate the feeling with sliders, looks more slowdown motions than heaviness of players so...)
But well. It's not the thread. Just to say : i'm not a Fifa hater, just that, with PES 16 VS FIFA 16 was the only exception : i always preferred by far the PES PS4-PC era in terms of feeling, motions, heavyness, inertia, pressing, only the stadiums outdated with their original banners in every language who didn't make sense pissed me off. Well i wasn't a fan neither of "American style" FIFA presentation and separate cutscenes overally so... But it's a design choice, all EA Sports games are like this.

At least I can take solace in the fact that I, along with many others on here, was right since day one. Day one being the release of the infamous New Football Game Online Performance Test. It was plain as day despite a lot of zealots claiming we were a bunch of entitled morons with low attention spans. That brings me some degree of satisfaction during this entire debacle. I made my peace many moons ago.

In regards to any positives that can be salvaged from this dumpster fire, I'm not surprised that the most ardent are still holding strong. I even said as much a month or so ago. There will be bits and pieces that are encouraging or even great, but a few good ideas or a couple of interesting mechanics can't save a game. Granular running speed is a good idea, some of the dribbling animations look class, and I like how players are more proactive with trying to cut-out passes when you use X to "match-up." Those are literally about the only positives I took from my time with eFootball.

I've played a lot of games and I'm well beyond the point of clinging onto the nebulous promise of "potential." A lot of early-access games have potential, but don't amount to anything of note. You can't put sugar on shit and tell me it's a brownie. Hell, I have been playing a heavily modified PES 2021 lately (a game I still have issues with in terms of responsiveness) and I booted that up after my session with eFootball... PES 2021 felt like the actual "next-gen" experience compared to that.

But yes, eFootball 2022 is PES 2014 all over again. AND the PES 2020 demo (its fouls) all over again. I was mystified on both occasions to see a community that says it wants a thing, almost getting it, but saying they didn’t want it after all. History happening right now, again.
pes 2020 demo was the best fut simulation ever in many aspects
messi was the best representation of a player in a videogame ever

whats the comparison besides being anti critics?

You have a tendency to become quite personal in your posts, if somebody is disagreeing with you.

Re your point about standards. I savaged the online test game. I have also shredded pes 20 on this forum. I have been bored within a couple of months by every pes since pes 6.

I've played almost no football games at all in two years, and very little in the years before that. If I do, its fifa 16 vanilla, occasionally fifa 19 krebstar sliders. Because I have standards.

Those standards however do not prevent me from gaining some enjoyment from this demo, despite its numerous deficiencies.

Neither does that enjoyment in some way vindicate Konamis approach to game development. I will never give them a penny in my club and wont buy this game for offline play unless its substantially improved. And so there is no compromise. Simply some impressions of a few hours with a free demo.
You're conflating what you want with how people have experienced something, completely independent of your wishes.

I too want a next gen pes worthy of ps5 horsepower, but it's not going to happen. What value is there in continuing to get angry about it? Konami have significantly lower standards than you or I do, in our expectations of what pes should be. But enjoying the demo in some way doesnt lower my standards, because my personal standards have no relationship to what a games company in japan is doing. My enjoyment or otherwise of their free demo will make not a jot of difference to how they develop the game. We here are in a bubble, and nobody but us is looking in.
You aint seen me personal. I find it laughable that this post might upset you but two years waiting for this garbage doesn't.

I watched him for the first time today, just saying what he said on his stream. He called the current build pure garbage and told people to get a refund. Not exactly my idea of "creating hype".
That’s fair. I’m talking about the initial video though.

SP was invited to playtest the game. I think, and this is just my opinion, that he had rules about what he could and couldn’t say.

Anyway it’s not his fault this game is pure trash. It’s Konami and that other fella behind this mess of a series.

You're seeing things in very emotional terms. It doesn't upset me, why would it? We're talking about a football video game.

I just feel you're displacing your anger with konami on to people here finding some, and let's be clear, it is 'some' enjoyment with the demo. You had a similar view about people spending any money on it.

Anyhow. We both want the same thing, but neither of us are getting it.

Ps4 pro. I've had technical issues, the stuttering player when he's clear of the defence...but I'm just taking it for what it is. I may not even play it again until its updated a few times...but I really did find some enjoyment from it.
Got also a PRO, and a PS5. But i won't try it until i read some comment saying that the game is more or less "acceptable" and they removed bugs.
IF it's the case. I read some heavyness of the players and PES 2014 Beta stuffs, which i personnally liked against all criticism, i saw bugs like we saw in the game, like the keeper going litterally outside the pitch. But not all those glitches and bugs, disappearing players, or the flat referee, that one maked me laugh.
BUT things like collisions resulting in a complete player deformation, i saw those one while playing, in slowdown, a lot for example.

Not the thread for it but FIFA 22 is a very good football game on next gen. I can’t play PES 5 forever, I bought a PS5 for modern gaming
If you're talking next gen (ps5 and Xbox series x) and don't mind the dodgy unrealistic movement animations than yes fifa22 is your only choice. If u consider PC than i still think a modded PES2021 Season Update is your best bet..
Only played for about 5 mins but yeah I already agree with you on the dribbling and the physicality, definitely feels like a step up from 2021
No way!! U serious?? eFootball is so limited and dumbed down in all aspects of gameplay including dribbling and physicality. Well the version i played was.

Haven't watched said video, so I can't really tell what he did or didn't say there. You might well be right about him having certain rules about what to say, but given how he tore the game apart today, he did sound genuine to me.

Forgot this came out and only remembered when i looked at the backlash on twitter.

Deary me what a sorry state of affairs. This was the natural conclusion for pes dating back to 2008.

Be curious for Kojima's thoughts on this iteration. He was a fan of ignoring the faithful but would be digusted with this I'd imagine,
He spent years (and millions) building that fantastic engine. It was practically a license to print money and Konami just threw it in the bin.

Stop telling me what my “best bet” is. I like FIFA 22, deal with it. No amount of mods will save PES 2021, it’s a boring experience for me. We get it, you like it - I’ve got modded PES 2021 on PC and it looks great but still bores the hell out of me.

The thing is: it is in some way familiar to that leaked pes 14 demo, but its nowhere near as polished as that demo was. Also, that demo had a lot of actual technology in it, real physics etc. I'm not sure this does.

What it has is heaviness and the new analogue sprint makes moving players feel quite tactile at time. But they are also unresponsive and laggy, so you never quite feel in control.

It's a mess, sure. There are far more bad things than good. But some of the good are what I enjoy in a game.

But I wouldnt go rushing off to download it!

I wonder will Konami keep sugar coating this, or just be real with the fans, admit it’s shit but it’s being worked on…you can’t be so delusional to ignore the overwhelming negative press it’s getting and reframe it otherwise just to present a front and keep to a certain narrative to fans…has gone too far at this stage
Wonder what the reactions in Asia are like..

@robozaoGOAT what's funny about my post?
I know you just here to bash the game (and i understand, everyone got their way to expulse their feelings, but i'm not in the mood to makes jokes at all) well.
If we can't analyse seriously sometimes "how those things happened" instead of posting trolls and funny images... Well, i won't lie, some makes me laugh, but it's not a "please came to bash Efootball or PES please"

If you don't liked the old PES neither, i don't know what you're doing here. There's others games.

Same here. I love PES and PES2021 is fantastic in terms of mods, we've done a thousand times more for it than the actual developers, but we can't live our entire lives modding it, it doesn't feel the same as, for example, PES6. FIFA22 genuinely seems like a decent choice for today standards.

I didn't downloaded it. I checked some leaked vids, and saw the way players moves, animations etc. there was a feeling of heaviness. Same for calibration of passes. Now for the rest...
It's not forgiven to got hope. I already said it but if the game is become good in 6 months, i won't care about the past review even if they got a sticker on their face as "FAIL".

I don't play games because other peoples like it, but for myself.

I can slowly see the seed of anger here, so I'd say lets take a step back here, before it turns nasty.
We are all pissed off here.
Some are laughing, some are fuming, but deep down we are all pissed off at Konami.
So lets not take it out on each other.
As long as we can see the funny side of it - grand. But please dont jump at each others throats.
They are not worth it..

agree, and tbh FIFA's atmosphere and visuals is stunningly beautiful. Kinda makes up for the arcadey gameplay (which I've gotten used to atm). Never have I felt such satisfaction buying a FIFA game in a long time

Well one thing that has become painfully obvious, if it wasn't already, is that this is being completely aimed at the mobile market. How do we know? Well, the obvious fact that the "release" we got today, demo-like as is, is not the actual release date for the game Konami are releasing.

The actual game release occurs in November when the mobile version comes out and crossplay is enabled for mobile. This is also conveniently when the new team building mode is released and those shiny pre-order coins some people purchased actually become usable...

What we got today is literally the demo we used to always get with 5min halves and a handful of teams, but they tacked on an online element to it so that it's an official launch of eFootball!

Edit: I also want my manual through balls and advanced shooting back! :CURSE:

You're right. It won't change it, especially as it's a PES 2020 with some animations added etc.
Personnally, i think to keep it as 2020-21 season version, but i will continue to work on the errors in game. Like PES 5 "original season" with everything corrected, height, weight, faces remaded etc.

Right, had the chance to play on the last of the platforms I use, PC, and again I found it... OK. Awful pauses between menus needs optimising, as does a spot of cutscene lag (memories not just of PES2014, but 2007's unfortunate PES2008 on the then-next-gen consoles). The Settings.exe convinced me it wasn't recognising my controller but I started the game anyway and it was working, so there are a LOT of little things which altogether amount to the usual annoyances that PC gamers have to put up with on top of everything else.

Played a random friendly between two of the SA teams and really had a nice time. Here is a sample 30 seconds. The inertia and slowness here is what I want in football gaming. It makes me laugh here because with typical Japanese zaniness, somebody at Konami thinks it actually has a chance in the modern marketplace. I set it to Level 3 passing (the assist levels are reversed in eFootball; Level 3 is one notch below manual). The early wayward through-ball in the clip below gives some idea of how much less assisted that setting now is.

Umpteen pages since release and there's barely a scrap of gameplay in this thread. Gifs of twisted arms and zombie Messi aside, here is the typical eFootball 30 seconds :

That pace and style reminds me of one of EvoWeb modder Holland's more extreme slow, heavy gameplay mods. I wonder...

Demo expander incoming hopefully.
