eFootball (All Platforms)

If you want to ever be the top ranked player at eFootball, this year is probably the best time to suck up its faults and battle through it if you were good at PES games. No one who genuinely likes football games is going to play this competitively online in this state.

For all its flaws though, there's still a chance months or years down the line this can become a decent game. By no means a guarantee, but they seriously need to address all these issues sooner rather than later, because right now it's dying on its arse before it's even properly launched the modes expected of a football game.
This game hasn’t got time on its side. First impressions stay with people a long time. Cyberpunk still hasn’t recovered and that’s by a publisher with a good reputation due to The Witcher series. Konami have been known as a joke in the gaming industry for quite a while now. This is the final nail in their coffin.

This is PES2014 all over again, and I don't mean that as a swipe at Konami or the team behind this game, but at US.

PES 2014 was something they were showing off months before release, even at E3. I don't remember them hiding any hint of gameplay footage until the very last moment? Yes there are some parallels you could draw in terms of being in an unfinished state, but just go and watch a PES 2014 video, even now it looks streets ahead of this abomination. Comparing the two is an abandonment of common sense.

Noticed that the control settings are basically set to easy mode by default. Bodes well for online *sigh
Yeah I noticed that. PA1 is default and fully assisted. Was like that on first game I played and it was awful. Moving to manual passing (PA4) did improve the experience, but manual passing is not as crisp as PES2021. It really shows its faults with short passes to players close to you. The pass often goes past them or the receiving player runs past the ball. The best element of PES games and that's broken too.

Sometimes I think people dont have any Idea how to make propper feedback and that can only contribute to the game getting worse in things that are actually good.

People think bugs like this as something that make It bad, a bad game. That doesnt make It a bad game, but a completely UNFINISHED product, wich is quite a difference concept imo.

I did not play yet, but some of You are overreacting to the point that even things that have been changed FOR TBlHE BETTER could be returned to the old arcade crap style.

The fact that some button settings changed and now defending feels much more manual, not so fucking ridiculously automatic and easy, wich only endorse for a n unrealistic High pressure style that kills the ART of dribbling with a simples analogue move is something to be VERY WELCOMED, at least If you CARE about realism and want a game that is more tatical and football oriented, as moving players into position, jockeying and covering space, read opponent play to intercepet passes is part of being good at defending, instead of Just mindless pressure button abuse.

Animations, player-ball interaction, those little touchs, those tighter turns, some nice no touch movements on the ball, come on, dribbling seems to be Far more intuitive and Dynamic, and with a more challenging defending mechanism, that opens up New posibilities.

The game has some positive but radical changes that we should adapt to. Sure It lacks polishments in many áreas, but we need to accept that this game is MEANT to be different from the PES franchise wich is a thing of the past and we have to accept that.

I wouldnt say its a worse game by now. Its too early to say. Its a difference UNFINISHED product with New and different concepts, and some of these radical changes If for better to be really honest.
Id love to give good critical feedback. But and it’s a big butt.It will fall on deaf ears.

There’s just no point. Most of us have been on this train since 2008.We’ve seen the good the bad and the dam right ugly.

Do you really believe this company is going to change. It’s the same old pattern of lies, deceit and smoke and mirrors.Honestly take a real deep look at this game. Are you really seeing anything that wasn’t being done 10 years ago. It’s just the same old tired board they’ve been walking since 2008.With the same empty promises and poor marketing.

Gamers aren’t stupid or naive, yet Konami seem to think we are.Would you allow a friend or member of family play with your loyalty and emotions this much.

Games live and die by there gameplay.Word of mouth. Its a fickle industry and nothing goes under the radar of a true gamer. It’s why pes was so successful in the first place.

Completely agree with you mate. The only thing that can save them is that there are only 2 football games on the market. That said if no one is going to pump money into this game as no one is playing, there's no money to fix this and yeah, it will just die. Glad it hasn't got the PES name against it if this is the way it goes.

I wonder what the online default will be though. I have played about 8 matches and I haven't felt that my opponent have had a super- assisted setting. I went with PA3 (which now is PA1) myself. I don't think all the people I have played have changed their PA beforehand (I played one Manual player though) which might be a sign of P3 being the default.

Other than that, it's impossible to say anything about the gameplay because the bugs/glitches whatever are too many. Under the hood there might be something decent, but it's a long, LONG way from that atm.

Set aside all those miriads of bugs of this alpha version of this release, and the gameplay has the potential to be the most innovative in a while.
That's the tough pill to swallow.
It's a brand new game that tries to rethink how football can be played in a video game, so if you try to play it like you've been playing football games all these years, you are going to be massively disappointed. You need to completely relearn how to play.
People have been asking for something new but people don't like change, ironic. Same story as PES2014. All those new gameplay mechanics/concepts need time to learn after being used to them for almost 30 years. Yet people complain about the missing double press even though they haven't even grasped the new concepts. Think out of the box -gameplay wise-. Nobody told you this is an upgrade for PES, it's a new game. If you had expectations for it to play like you've used to, that's your problem.
It needs a serious amount of polishing though, bugs are everywhere.

Sorry, but is the AI not supposed to be appraised either (the AI that runs away from the ball, not because of a bug but because of the same lack of awareness 2021 has)? Or the floaty physics, or the ball moving without anyone actually touching it (which suggests it's being forced to where it needs to be, as opposed to being the result of the interaction from the player model)...
I'm afraid it's the dreaded 'not happening for me' response I'm afraid!

Genuinely not seen the AI running away form the ball. No floaty physics – if anything the physical objects seem to be operating in 1.5 gravity. (Which I like.) My taste in PES games is for slow, heavy, draggy gameplay, where the player running in one direction cannot ever stop instantly like a cartoon character and head in another. eFootball's players are heavy objects with momentum and respond accordingly.

Not seen the ball moving without being touched either.

Admittedly only played about 8 matches so far, on the Series S. About to try the PS4 now which had better be (from my pov) just as good, as I intend to get another few years' life out of that console.

I hate all the versioning talk around the different platforms that has dogged the PES series since the PS2/Xbox days. We need one game that plays the same across all platforms. I am genuinely dreading my PC attempt later, reading everything that's going on.

But yes, eFootball 2022 is PES 2014 all over again. AND the PES 2020 demo (its fouls) all over again. I was mystified on both occasions to see a community that says it wants a thing, almost getting it, but saying they didn’t want it after all. History happening right now, again.

What a dumpster fire, an absolute trainwreck. It´s so horrible, yet I can´t take my eyes away from it! Comedy gold.

Just a shame it happens to be a Franktenstein-monster of my favorite gaming franchise of all time. RIP PES/ISS. ISS 98 - PES 2021. :WASTED:to a great, wonderful friend.

I remember having played PES 2014 Beta. There was tons of bugs like some i saw here but not at that level.
Crowd?
You won't attire anyone if you play/fight/run that bad. There will be no one to play, there's a minimum required please...
It's even more bugged and non-sense game than i believed. Looks like a suicide.

I don't ever think the game will be ready to play in one year. They gotted at least PES 2020-2021 as a basis to upgrade. Well in won't lie i saw some weight and motions that i like (like it was the case from PES 2014) but all the rest is really pre-alpha. Not releasable, but i just don't believe they would have released it in the current state. Well, it's perhaps upgradable... But like i said before : they created a reputation about "fail" around Efootball. IF one day it become really playable, they will got a "looser" sticker on their head forever (if they don't abandon the game before, or Capcom or any other Jap company make an offer to buy the PES name and take all their devs under their wings, my biggest dream)

But like i don't remember someone said and he was totally right : Japanese don't care about review. When they got a future in head, a plan, they're tough and stick to it until they're done, good example with Honda first year who failed totally and next year matched more or less with Mercedes.
FTM, all i wait is the database. I will probably open a thread about it. My idea is to take stats from Efootball 2022 (+ if they got for example "sliding tackle") and upgrade stats. I don't have a clue is faces parameters are the same. I'll see, but for the moment i'm not in the mood, in fact PES is a big part of my life, and i was really happy when it was (like somoene said on his signature) "finally enjoyable", to me from PES 2017 to 2021, with some flaws like no fouls at all in PES 2018 for example (corrected in the PES 2019 version, that's one thing i prefers + physics are far better)

If someone found a way to overwrite literally ig licenced teams to replace them, like for AFC etc or new kits, with a method... But it's only doable with a PS4 modded. And i will switch on PS5. Will probably play FIFA 22 but farrr less than i would with PES.
When they will got an Edit Mode, i'm a bit sick of all those errors i can't correct and fake Brasileirao i would like to restore to a real one, etc.
Or editing simply "Piemonte Calcio" etc.

Edit Mode on Efootball 2022? I think there's first one option : just assigning kits, changing IG face or stats (only for offline. No place for creation)
Or a league creation mode, what i've been dreamed since a very very long time.
What i really don't think they will do / As Kimura seems to wants everything "fakes" gone.

I already miss Kei Masuda. Kimura is really the baddest choice they've done since... Ever in PES. I'm asking to tweet massively "Look what's happen with Kimura in command. He practically killed your reputation. Kei Masuda was more patient at least and by far less stubborn : he NEVER would have release a game in that state"... Well a smaller tweet lol, but something like that. I'm sincerely sad, not only because of the game state i thinked a bit more advanced for the release, but also because of the choice to release that thing. Fighting Fifa with that? Please, it's looking like a game after 4 month building, with tons of stuffs to correct i can't even count. There's "aware" of it.
But Kimura don't give a shit. Masuda would have. Point.

A future football gaming world with only Fifa and UFL (perhaps), no thanks it's hell to me. I prefers to play on my PS5 with PS4 real PES versions FTM.
And Fifa, to play it with the same feeling of weight, balanced etc. like in PES... Perhaps i'm dreaming but perhaps when they will change Frosbite. Now, it's a Frosbite game in every part except animations transitions, physics are the same, ball physics have been changed but not "algorithmed" if you know what i mean. It's normal, it's their real first NG version... Just hope they won't do too much errors in the future if they're totally alone on the market.

Kei Masuda was a good producer in fact. Kimura's choice is probably the worst move Konami did.

Ok then if its unfinished and given its state very unlikely to be any better in November why are they charging £32 for pre ordering packs for an unfinished product. This simply should not be allowed

How anyone can see hope in this, I don't know. Fuck the graphical glitches - the AI is no glitch. It's a total mess from front to back.

Obviously, I hope they prove us wrong and next year's game is great. But this isn't playable.
I get the impression the PC version is even worse than the PS5 version. I've only played 4 games admittedly (3 offline a d 1 online), but not seen players vanishing or jelly arms...yet. Ai is bad, but not as bad as that clip. Any idea if that is on PC? I'd expect the PS5 version would be given the most "love" anyway!

However, removing the make a teammate do a forward run input is making this unplayable. So many times I'd wait for a teammate to make a run up the wing into space and he wasn't doing it. Sometimes he would, but it's like 50/50 chance.
"Our brand new and innovative feature T-MATE CTRL™ will be released in a future update coming this autumn".

Jokes apart... Really, no teammate control anymore? That was one of the most important things that PES had over FIFA...

I already think it's too late. Many won't even want to delve into the settings and try Level 3 (least assisted) or Level 4 (manual) passing, for example, because it's too hard to find in the new menus.

It sounds unbelievable looking at this thread, Twitter and the like, but I swear on a stack of Bibles and Korans: I've not seen anything but a few technical bugs related to graphics etc. This massively alters my view.

I don't play online because I detest what football gaming is online. But I thought I would, just to see what it was like. And I enjoyed the match. The constraints of the game constrained my opponent from what he was clearly trying to do (play it like a coin-op 1000mph sprintfest). I ENJOYED an online game. If anything signifies that a PES game will be considered 'broken' by its actual target market, it's that.

I expect Konami will panic and change it to something more like previous PES editions.

are we missing something, come on can they really release something like this? do you know the damage that this entails? something is missing, not even my girlfriend struggling with the first years of marketing would make a similar disaster.
