eFootball (All Platforms)

I think I like it. Despite all its flaws, which let's face it are too many to mention.

But, I like the weight, the game shape, the running animations, especially off the ball where the leaning and changing direction animations are the best ive seen in a game. I like that you can bully forwards with someone like Chiellini.

And now I've managed to started building good attacks with juve. The game does feel wild, unfinished, wayward, but there is a sense of (limited) freedom. The only game I can tolerate these days is fifa 16 vanilla (pes 20 vanilla had a few golden weeks) but I kind of like this. It reminds me in some ways of the leaked pes 14 demo.

The graphics even look okay in the efootball and Allianz arena stadiums, summer, night.

If they fixed all the bugs, then tightened the responsiveness, made the ball physics more 'pingy' and less spongy, it could be a decent (free) ps4 game (it's not a next gen game and probably never will be).

A reasonable calm and composed opinion.

You're brave to say that the entire world is playing this wrong, except for you two people.

It's okay to like it, but cmon, saying people are in the wrong just cause is quite something.

I wouldnt say I'm playing it any differently to any other game. I'm just enjoying it for some weird reason.

Just sad for China because it's always a good extra slot to be replaced :PP

Jokes aside, not only they cannot understand they could just the db open in order we could ad whatever the fuck we want, they do not even replaced the same leagues of last year and continue to not have J1 League in the main game, only in Mobile one

For Christ' sake, it's a Japanese game and they don't even bother to put their main national league in the game.
Konami needs to be eternally damned.

Remember that lie from them from 2-3 years ago how they cannot add more slots due to engine limitations, well that's just another lie to their tally now after looking at the stadium list and team list. Now will we ever get those regens in the master league, which will be a copy paste plus ten times worse than 2021 edition.
It essentially tell us that this will at max be pes 2020 season update 2022, but by the time the potential master league is to release, it will already be spring/e3 and time for 2023 editions. Looking at the modding files structure that Durandil has shown, it looks the same, but we will see if modding will be possible at all.

Compared licences a bit also:

Club partners

ePES 2021 vs eFootball 2022
vs 26:26

Lost

Schalke 04 (gone because no fake german league)
Boca Juniors (already present via argentine league)
Alianza Lima (already present via chile league)

Gained

Napoli (already present via serie a)
Atalanta (already present via serie a)
Universidad de Chile (already present via chile league)

Leagues

https://www.konami.com/wepes/2021/eu/en/ps4/page/license vs https://www.konami.com/efootball/en/page/license_efootball2022

My guess is MLS is replacement for colombian, and they will add a random league to fill the chinese league slot lmao, it's literally PES 2020 season update 2022 dumbed down for mobile.

Gained

MLS American League

Lost

Colombian league
Chinese League
Other European Teams
Other Latin American Teams
Other Asian Leagues
PEU League
PLA League
PSA League

so -7 total leagues and unknown amount of national teams, no german teams whatsoever or space for adding teams unless they add edit mode, which they will eventually but it will be a copy paste from ePES 2021, no additions whatsoever.

Stadiums

ePES 2021 vs eFoot 2022

50 vs 18 (48 vs 6 at launch)

Missing or lost:

18 Fake stadiums (only eFootball arena present)
14 Licenced stadiums
Alianz Parque
Arena do Gremio
De Kuip
La Bombonera
Estadio Alejandro Villanueva
Estádio José Alvalade
Estádio Mineirão
Johan Cruijff ArenA
Saitama Stadium 2002
St. Jakob-Park
Stade Louis II
VELTINS-Arena
Wembley Stadium
Estadio National de Chile

And lets not forget all the others they've had but lost over the past years like Dortmund stadium, San Siro and more...

So to summarize: Worse downgrade than PES 2008 was to PES 6 and PES 2014 to PES 2013, and ultimately this is the end of the line. Absolutely nothing new, groundbreaking or worth your money or time, or worth a 2 year wait. Lying cheating Konami.

Only played for about 5 mins but yeah I already agree with you on the dribbling and the physicality, definitely feels like a step up from 2021. On the flip side though the game is really difficult to look at.

Does anyone know if the game looks better on PS5 than it does on PC?

Not all Japanese developers are bad and there’s plenty that care about there IP’s.Nintendo exemplify this with quality standards and in the main there games still tower above most western developers. They also know how to get the best out the hardware there using and the limitations.

Konami are like a bad tradesman or cowboy builder. They use dated techniques and methods.Cut corners, promise the world and massively under deliver.Time and time again

While in recent years the glass has been half fall. Now it’s barely containing a drip.

It’s evident they don’t want to change, they can’t.New talent is lacking as is a willingness to embrace new technology and move forward with the franchise.

They,ve had a real opportunity and window to be a little creative.Efootball didn’t need to be a robust finished product.A solid base that showed ambition would of been enough.People would be willing to wait if the game felt next level and demonstrated outcomes would be more physics based and the AI was actually intelligent.

Its none of the above. They just can’t think out of the box or are able to create anything outside of the model or template they created in the ninties.

Where’s the sense of professional pride. What a wonderful sport football is and what a shame the forefathers of the digital game can’t be inspired with the technology of today to present something indicative of the times.Nuff said I’m going to lose myself in fifa.

if that the case that they do not contain :
PEU League
PLA League
PSA League, then what the purpose for edit mode??????????????????????????

Ew.. This game is WORSE than the "NFG Beta" , in my opinion. 30% of the things don't even render properly in this game, and the graphics look like they came out of mixing PS1 and PS3 graphics. For some reason every time the AI gets the ball in their box, they mindlessly run towards their own goal almost as if they're going to do an own goal, then awkwardly turn back and stop and then start running again.. I am SURE I am not the only one who has seen this with the AI? Also the passing is broken, Either the ball moves like it's constipated and cant move more than a few centimeters or when I slightly tap to cross it to my player it just f****ng flies out of the stadium. Shooting is shit. This game is (worse than) shit. Player models look half done. The grass doesn't exist, it's just some football pitch template thrown on top of a rectangular base.

PLEASE IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED OR DOWNLOADED THE GAME YET, THEN DON'T DOWNLOAD IT AT ALL UNTIL AT LEAST NOVEMBER OR MORE

Totally not!

Im just saying that all of us are accustomed to certain style of gameplay for many years.
Run, laser guided pass fest, shoot.
Just notice how many passes is the CPU make in PES 2021, and how many in eF2022.
It's normal to just grab a controller and try to play as you are used to.
If this do not work (for example constant running leads to loose ball, or buggish collision) then its totally understandable to hate the game.

I think ef2022 wants us to play differently, but....unfortunately this release is soaked in bugs and glitches.
Im just praising the potential and the fresh idea, on the contrary, fifa and pes was based on oldschool "run n gun" approach (fifa mostly)
In ef2022 I like the slow erratic passes, they are forcing you think twice before spamming long passes.
eF2002 has a nice level of immersion, too bad the execution was not even decent.

A question:
Are there any chances that ef2022 is moddable?
For example turf textures, balls, match lengths, resolution, graphics, lod, etc?

I really like what they've done to the dribbling, especially when you slow right down and start looking for passing options. I feel like I have so much more control now. Player models are also better imo (Body's not the faces lol)

But yeah playing this for myself has actually made me even more mad at how they've botched this. Can only hope for some kind of No Man Sky type recovery.

We should get J League as even on PC it feels like a mobile version.

As seen in the files, its unfinished, but given the reception, and how its still not on the roadmap, it may never even get finished.
For all we know, in the end they might just give us the option to edit 1 club to use for myclub and thats it.

There's certainly a big potential there, but until they do something about it, and if they ever do, it's still trash.
Potential never made anything good, you're basically praising a game that doesn't exist yet and may never exist instead of talking about the game that exists right now.

Sometimes I think people dont have any Idea how to make propper feedback and that can only contribute to the game getting worse in things that are actually good.

People think bugs like this as something that make It bad, a bad game. That doesnt make It a bad game, but a completely UNFINISHED product, wich is quite a difference concept imo.

I did not play yet, but some of You are overreacting to the point that even things that have been changed FOR TBlHE BETTER could be returned to the old arcade crap style.

The fact that some button settings changed and now defending feels much more manual, not so fucking ridiculously automatic and easy, wich only endorse for a n unrealistic High pressure style that kills the ART of dribbling with a simples analogue move is something to be VERY WELCOMED, at least If you CARE about realism and want a game that is more tatical and football oriented, as moving players into position, jockeying and covering space, read opponent play to intercepet passes is part of being good at defending, instead of Just mindless pressure button abuse.

Animations, player-ball interaction, those little touchs, those tighter turns, some nice no touch movements on the ball, come on, dribbling seems to be Far more intuitive and Dynamic, and with a more challenging defending mechanism, that opens up New posibilities.

The game has some positive but radical changes that we should adapt to. Sure It lacks polishments in many áreas, but we need to accept that this game is MEANT to be different from the PES franchise wich is a thing of the past and we have to accept that.

I wouldnt say its a worse game by now. Its too early to say. Its a difference UNFINISHED product with New and different concepts, and some of these radical changes If for better to be really honest.

This is PES2014 all over again, and I don't mean that as a swipe at Konami or the team behind this game, but at US.

Set all bugs aside. Twisty arms and floaty UI elements are obviously not a feature meant to be appraised as part of the game. That (the game) is what's interesting me. At 2am last night I thought 'wow, we were all wrong, there is going to be so much love for this direction...' Er.

This eFootball Beta shows us a game with slow, ponderous, sometimes cumbersome animations and ball movements. And that's what I want. I want to have to relearn how to play a football game. If this was the final gameplay, if they cleaned up the bugs I'd be happy as the famous Larry.

One detail I love. It is very common to run the ball out of play because you assume you can squeeze sprint without consequence. Nobody here would say 'arcadey' about this game. It's mainly chortling about Alpha-like bugs and glitches.

Oh, and there are fouls. Fouls everywhere. Every match so far has finished with an abundance of them. I know that many of the fouls are PES2014-style 'momentum fouls' (similar to the PES2020 fouls that also got howled down by the community that claims to want fouls... just not those fouls).

Yes, the clearly unfinished state of the package overall is shocking. But what else is shocking is the gleeful meme-like reaction to the gameplay. If you want and expect an arcade game with instant 1:1 corntrol, this isn't it. Hold on a few months, though, and I suspect you'll get your wish.

NB: game played on Series S, Level 3 passing, Custom Stadium. Apart from occasional choppiness at Old Trafford, the graphics are great for me. I'm also a PC player and haven't tried that yet (I'm braced for a familiar PC Day 1 mess; if there's technical shit happening, we tend to get the shittiest end of the stick on that platform). There's a PC modder called Holland who specialises in slow, physical gameplay mods, and insists on playing at -2 speed. I'm interested to hear what he has to think of eFootball.

Sorry, but is the AI not supposed to be appraised either (the AI that runs away from the ball, not because of a bug but because of the same lack of awareness 2021 has)? Or the floaty physics, or the ball moving without anyone actually touching it (which suggests it's being forced to where it needs to be, as opposed to being the result of the interaction from the player model)...

If you want to ever be the top ranked player at eFootball, this year is probably the best time to suck up its faults and battle through it if you were good at PES games. No one who genuinely likes football games is going to play this competitively online in this state.

For all its flaws though, there's still a chance months or years down the line this can become a decent game. By no means a guarantee, but they seriously need to address all these issues sooner rather than later, because right now it's dying on its arse before it's even properly launched the modes expected of a football game.
