eFootball (All Platforms)

I wish I shared your optimism bro.
With all the setbacks etc what makes you think we will actually have a decent offline mode with improvements in gameplay? Konami have really set the tone for pay to play which seems to be nearly solely focused on online modes/my club etc, so why should they even bother putting time into anything else like ML or better AI and gameplay when it won’t serve them on a monetary basis?
For me it looks like it’s just going to be a mobile game that may look pretty on now current gen consoles.

Maybe it's because I spend the majority of my time just playing offline leagues. To have the new gameplay improvements + last year's offline modes + unreal engine everything would be more than I actually wanted for the new game. The gameplay changes are a big enough upgrade for me as an offline league player.

Not even pretty……….apart from some nice lighting it looks like it’s running on a ps3

Great to see a YouTuber of Yong's reach cover this. Would love to have a Jim Stephanie Sterling one, and a SkillUp one too. But Yong is basically one of the biggest out there.

You can see he's not familiar with football, or with the series. Some of the comparisons he makes with FIFA are comparisons he could have made with PES itself (e.g., the yearly release cycle and wiping of myClub content before now). But his arguments are still sound. (Oh, and the less said about his pronunciation of "Juventus", the better!)

I found it interesting that one aspect of the monetisation he singled out as scummy is the selling of individual modes in a game that's marketed as F2P. I haven't seen people making this argument, but it's a good one. I've seen people try and spin it as (following Adam's lead), "just imagine how great ML will be now that we're paying specifically for it!", which was always complete guff. No, not only is there no compulsion to make a good ML just because it's being sold individually, it's also a fucking cheek that they are carving up the complete game into sections, and giving away the gambling part of the game "for free".
Although I'd rather just make one single payment and have a complete game each year, I don't particularly mind paying for the offline modes I do use separately now that's what I'm going to have to do. Well, I don't mind as long as whatever I do pay doesn't cost more than what a traditional PS5 version would have cost, so let's say £60 in total to get all the modes that would have been on a normal annual release. If we're talking higher costs than that, then I'd expect whatever payment I were to make to be a one time payment that lasts for eFootball's lifetime, not just one season. Although with how they've handled things (like with allowing up front payments for things you can't use for two months to appear on online stores), maybe the game won't even last beyond that! Especially if FIFA then decides to snuff it out with a similar model.

The sensible way for them to handle this I think would be for a one off payment to have those modes forever, then at worst, perhaps a smaller season update style payment to allow the new season squads and kits to be used on the offline modes purchased. A discount for all offline modes as one bundle so it matches a retail release physical price (or less) of a full game would be acceptable in my opinion. I don't expect to get ML, BAL etc. for free. As others have said though, just because we'll be paying for it separately, doesn't translate to it being a better mode than before unfortunately!

I find it funny that TTB gets ragged on here but facking yongyeah is brought up like the guy has any integrity whatsoever. Guy is a pure shill and his videos consist of him repeating the same idea ad nauseam to reach the magic 10 minute mark or whatever for optimized YouTube monetization. F that guy
TTB did a good video actually showing his disdain for the lootbox pre-order so fair enough, unfortunately PESUniverse will automatically get fart noise from me as mega shills but on an individual level TTB isn't afraid to criticise.

I don't follow gamer YouTube so I know nothing about this Yong guy but having this kind of exposure is not good for Konami and I hope it makes them wince at the least, they deserve to feel uncomfortable about this model they are presenting with eFootball

It's not the first time they are getting this exposure, in fact this will probably be the last time, as PES was their very last AAA game to go mobile/f2p/gambling. They are not the 90s Konami, it's pachinko machines and mobile microtransactions now.

Some say if you say the name Jim Sterling 3 times in a thread, he shall appear. So me saying it is #3 ;))
The man has the whole saga documented on his channel!

This , is a video on the internet ... enjoy.

Thats a really good and important clip.
Its shocking to see that they have those specific models, analysis, projects and meetings about it. How cruel this is, huh?

We all knew thats whats happening behind close doors but I personally would not think this is being done like this. Almost like a scientific project presentation.
Our parents did not really understand how it works. So clips like this are important to spread awareness and if it makes few parents to help their children - its a win.

Gaming population is getting older. Now we have (or will have) our own kids and we know how these companies operate.
So I do believe this is their last gasp before more countries follow Belgium.
Cant come soon enough.
Absolute pricks.

Well would you look at that? A games development trend is emerging - and fans across the globe, across the genres, are hating it.

Eurogamer: Sega's new mobile RPG is getting four times as many dislikes as likes on YouTube

"The teaser trailer is currently racking up four times as many likes as dislikes on its Japanese-language YouTube account. The majority of [...] comments seem unhappy that the game is seemingly only coming to mobile devices which leave some fearing it will be 'monetise[d] to death'.

'The only good part of this trailer is that they aren't disgracing an existing IP with more smartphone garbage,' opined one commenter.'"
Doesn't matter if the revenue outweighs the dislikes.

Are you forgetting how these YouTubers went to war with Konami a few times before? I mean, the Fuck Konami meme was Jim Sterling's haha. Konami have mugged off the different fanbases of their respective IPs before now, so when there's a big opportunity to dunk on them, I suppose it's not that surprising.

The thing is, the way they released PES and did the same myClub stuff every year – that flew under the radar of most gamers and the gaming press, especially while EA were there to do the same thing but worse. But with the big F2P shift, the PR about the shift, they got themselves press – just not the press they would want.

Yes reading again the post I forgot to add the mention that was specific to the eFootball situation and I put just Konami. Of course I know those memes overall (even you have pinned one with the FucKonami dance) and the entire situation with their previous actions, where Konami necromanced their franchises and transformed them into pachinkos/virtual casinos. But In the end I wasn't so sure that Konami will be so mediatic with this eFootball situation, because PES was never analyzed or mentioned on Yong or other youtubers that are popular. Mostly in those cases shit hits the fan when something happens to more popular franchises like SH, MGS, Castlevania or internally... For that reason I was pretty surprised to see Yong talking about eFootball knowing that PES was for at least five years slightly into this virtual coins business, and because I never saw him talking about PES to be interested of this game in general. Could be that videos from more popular youtubers regarding eFootball's loot box preorder case will come...

I'm actually very surprised on how this invention of Konami about pre-ordering some gambling got so viral that even Yongyea who isn't into sports (especially not into football) got to point out on this. I mean he is doing lots of videos about shady publishers like EA or 2K, but I wasn't thinking that Konami will ever get so viral to those standards, where they'll trigger directly his attention. But in the end to preorder lootboxes it's a new level of scam, it's like Konami is going at war with the classic lootbox model during a "hold my beer" situation and competing on who can release a more effective predatory abomination...

Tbh, YongYea was a huge Metal Gear fan. And look how they butchered Metal Gear series back in the day.

Anything Konami does will pretty much fall under his radar since he most likely straight up hates konami.

I understand bro. But I just don’t have faith said improvements will actually help the game play better, and with the focus on mobile platforms any such rationale and priority will be given to them platforms, meaning performance, features and ideas will just not be delivered to now next gen consoles.

This guy also makes some interesting reflection after the half of the video about the common sense that doesn't exist anymore and should be in those actual releases... Older gamers are just tired to see their franchises turning into this direction and watching announcements or ads with coins/packs everywhere...
(it's a spanish classic PES youtube channel with 220k subs, but activating the subtitles could be understandable).

Once a month or so, I come to this thread to look at news. But I end up leaving, quite depressed at this state of affairs. I wish there were no more news or even a release until all offline modes are set, modded and ready to be purchased but alas.. The world is not made up of offline gamers.

See you guys in a month! :TU: I will go back to my threads and playing offline PES 2021 and PES 13.

It's a FIFA video, but you can see with how much joy and fun video games were made back then, as opposed to these current times where pure greed has taken over sports gaming scene more than any other genre.

This sole video made in FIFA 2002 has more animations than eFootball 2022 has.

Think that's a bit of a strange whataboutery really. The reason YY is being posted, and lauded for that video, is because he makes sound points about how scummy the Konami pricing model is here. That's a good thing; it should get that exposure.

I also, unlike many, don't rag on TTB – he and "Wezza" seem to be fairly grounded when criticising Konami, in my view; it's Barry, from what I've seen, who prevaricates, weakens down his criticisms into postmodern nothingnesses like "at the end of the day, there's different ways to play the game and everyone has the right to have an opinion" (ad nauseam).

I saved an amazing goal on PES6 the other day, thinking I would share it somewhere when I can be bothered learning screen capture. This post inspired me to get on it!

So this 15 year old game just blew my mind again. Was this a scuffed shot ? or Özil style genius ? either way this game is pure gold.

Shout-out to Shollym for his awesome patch with a crazy soundtrack!

EDIT: Just to credit also the Cadiz stadium is from Firebird patch stadium pack :TU:

Q1: When will more teams be available to use, other than the nine already included at launch?

Many more Authentic Teams will be added as part of the upcoming autumn update. These can then be used as base teams for building your Creative Team. There will then be a further update in winter, where users can enjoy Match - Authentic with all the available teams.

That football crushing the players cock and balls animation was there in fifa 2001.

Good times. Cutscenes of Fifa 2001 and 2002 were pure gold, straight up comedy in a good way.

I need to go back to playing some more PES 6 again. Haven't played any PS2 in years.

I'm watching now PewDiePie live streaming opening some packs of carts, branded with KONAMI, Yu-Gi-Oh! craps, and any cart cost some money.. he is hype for some reason and this is popular around the kids ?... So that i how Konami making they billions ? Selling lootboxes packages with cardboard cards.

Ironically speaking, can you see some kind of "pattern" here?

vt4 vs vtc.jpg

2011 - One of the greatest Tennis games ( VT4 ) releases on many platforms (besides its competitor Top Spin). :EASY::APPLAUD::ROCK:

2012 - Appears a new game (VT Challenge) that's still on Google Play today. Ohhh sheiiiteee !!! 🕹️ -----> 📲. :SHOCK::TD::BLEH:

2021 - :PIG:💬 "Ba-dee-a-dee-a... ba-dee-a-dee-a... That's all folks !!!" (a.k.a. "...do you guys don't have phones ?!?!" meme).

THE END...

And because its just "cartoon cards" its not considered gambling for some. But essentially it's the same as what Trainwreckstv is doing on twitch, but he has a 18+ warning that no ones cares about. Getting paid by gambling sites to gamble on stream .. on their sites.

It's sad to see him like a zombie spinning slots, he looks very unhealthy at the moment. In actuality he is a really funny & caring person. But he's "gettin paid" & that's all that matters these days.

Why are they using obscure terms like “Match-Authentic”? Konami are embarrassing

Yes but.. any cart cost money, and you ca sell them and make money... must be sort of gambling, i mean.. you have the same sensations and it leads to addiction.

Just checked eBay, the best ones sell for $15-20k au. Highest is 24k  It's like the old Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, you get 0.01% chance of a golden ticket!

But even if it's 0.01% you can still get Mbappi :LMAO:
