eFootball (All Platforms)

finally some console footage... by the looks of it!
looking much better than what i've seen before. i like the organic walk-in at the beginning... players in the cabin moving more organic.
its hard to explain for me. all video games suffer from this... its when humans are made to look life like... they move slower with arms and stuff... that never was life like. now this is looking better, imo!
the entrance to the pitch is different as well... is this really the console version now!?

even Barca produces better looking trailer than Konami!

If there is an opinion that I do not care about, it is SP's. always analyzes everything in detail justifying all the problems of the game. For him, the game always seems to be made by gods and each consequence-error-failure-bug-horribleanimations of the game has a logical reason on the part of the developers.

If I cant turn off the "dribble zoom in" feature I might not even try the game. I cant stand camera angle inconsistency in sports games, just make it more likely to develop eye fatigue and it breaks immersion.
The Duel Camera blows, but it's only one of many cameras. I'm hoping it can be modded to act like the realistic Broadcast camera they use for replays, which zooms in and out based on context, without changing its height or position in the stadium stands.

Meh. The hover hands as they huddle is just lazy work. When players interact in cutscenes they seem to have the same problem that shows up in goal celebrations: They have the same body model. The animations of course haven't changed in 10 years, very rigid and stiff. At the end of the day, it's just a cutscene and doesn't matter at all. All I care about is how the game looks in gameplay view, where I'll be spending 95% of my time.

The only thing to be excited about in eFootball are the gameplay changes which I actually love. We'll have to wait for the future updates because even those won't all be ready on launch.

Looks no different to me, the cut scenes were already fine to honest. Unless we are playing dressing room and tunnel simulator 2022 then I'm not particularly interested, I think it's telling that they never show anything from gameplay cam and probably for a good reason, because that's probably the point it switches into the "crossplay" engine that has to work on phones

It’s Barca. They did a trailer for the first time. Cut them some slack! ;)

It's just mind boggling when you write it out like that, lol. Gameplay stuff coming at a later stage. Haha! They're incredible!

Yep. This is telling me that Covid hit them bad and they weren't geared towards working from home, for some reason. At this stage, after 2-3 years, everything related to gameplay should be 100% done and tested. This has nothing to do with UE5 being pushed back, and everything to do with changes in plans halfway through development.

If they roll out Covid as an excuse it's just plain lazy. Every company in the world has adapted quickly to this, sometime in a matter of weeks. The infrastructure is there for online meetings, developing and checking in code, play testing, etc. You literally do not need to be in the same office or building to develop games any more.

This.

If EA, 2K can do it, why not Konami ? It's understandable if Konami is an indie company, but this one is multi million $$$ company with years of experience. Also what big AAA title game konami working on besides PES ?

They just lazy and want quick cash grab.

There's many games delayed whatever so, but they aren't yearly.
Japan isn't America/Canada or whatever other countries developing some games.
It's not for nothing that Tokyo for example is on the top of all : most secure, less pollution, etc. in the world.

Personnally i thrust than from Asian perspective it have played a big role.
And what do you know that the office have tools for working at home, and the way they built game?
Just check UFL trailer and all people working togheter. Communication goes XX times faster in a office full of people, if you got to say one small word to someone, you don't have to email him and get a conversation about it etc.

You're underestimate it because "it's a video game > so it's all about computer and so, they can work with net connexion" etc.
It doesn't work like this in every companies. And to build a re-link together system, it takes time too if you don't have it for everyone at first.

Not for defending Konami or whatever, their choice of brutal game color for example (ffs FIFA 16 is blue and yellow too... But with nuances, shades of blue and yellow, not 0 green 0 yellow 255 blue ) have nothing to do with it, just sayin delay yes, choices not really.

Mate, I work for an IT consultancy who's global headquarters are in Japan. We develop and implement ERP software for clients all over the world. I'm telling you, the infrastructure is there...if they're not able to at least remote desktop into their own servers and develop on them (the infrastructure of which has been available for AT LEAST 10 years) then Konami really are in an absolute mess.

O refuse to believe that the mess we are seeing is due to covid. Everything that was showed, the lack of information, the lack of a decent trailer it all screams of incompetence, and a lack of a roadmap, like, literally.

I would understand if there were delays, or lack of time to complete a mode or some feature, but not even be able to show a finished gameplay at 30 days from launch… we are talking about a F2P game that mostly lives of content, gameplay, and netcode. 3 things that Konami is lacking (not so in gameplay but it could and should be much better) for more than 10 years.

This all looks like last year the heads of Konami just checked the costs of PES development against the revenue, and decided to just scrap tat project and turn that into an F2P, based on their milking cow mobile game, with 1/10 of the costs.

Thanks for the info and clarification. Well, i think Konami should have more or less what you got. Developping games and software looks similar i agree, but it's as i personnally got some feedbacks from someone who got a work in a game building company, and i personnally know a bit about sofware even if i didn't worked on that section (for Google, but there's an area with software creation)
From what he told me, it's a pretty different way to work, a lot of ideas sharing, try and re-try more "artistic" if you know what i mean (even if a sport game should be differently build, as it's a "copy" of football) but it was years ago, so i can't tell you if it's it's the same now.

They perhaps encountered issues you didn't. You can compare, but not being sure that the issues you encoutered and theirs are 100% the same.

But one thing, we knows that Pes Production (not even Konami) are a bit in retard in comparison to others company... Well to not spend money, even if they don't get that it's an investment.

I personnally think they got issue with Covid when i compare with others games delayed, that's all i got from argument.
But one thing is sure : the game was planned for this date and NOT finished yet.
Also a direction change in the middle of nowhere perhaps caused that issue, i'm pretty sure of it. If they fall, or if they won their bet, they we will probably know the thruth behind. But ftm, they just shut up.
They probably don't want to loose the thrust for some "crowds" especially the new one.

God of War 2, GT7, Horizon 2... Just a few of the PlayStation games delayed by Covid. eFootball is a brand new game with a different engine. FIFA 22 is not. I'm prepared to cut Konami some slack on this one. They're clearly at least 6 months off where they would want to be. It's frustrating, but also the reality.

How? We know it later.
But what you said as "6 months" delay or even more is 100% sure.

And i understand the madness, but no need to trow arrow at Konami for everything neither. A bit of situation analysis is a bit smarter, less "frustration > removing" but well. You can do both, mocking them but think about the situation with a clear mind too.

Well either Covid or a change of plans midway through development are the only explanations of why gameplay elements aren't ready on launch. They've had two years so it seems that many new gameplay ideas were introduced late into development.

We didn't say the opposite mate, we said that it played a part on it about the delay. We can't really situe "when" they changed their mind, before or after Covid.

Can't believe people are going to give the benefit of the doubt over covid when it's obvious they didn't have a clue what they were doing and changed their mind mid development to make a mobile game
I personally think eFootball has always been the plan when they were looking into what to do for when next gen landed. I think it's unfair to call this a mobile game. It's still a multi-platform game, but with a focus on crossplay. I'll pass judgement when ML lands on whether this is still the game for me as a predominantly offline player.

Encouragingly, the demo will include offline matches against ai. It would have been easy for them to just release a demo with online player v player matches only. I'll be interested to see how the ai play. I'm also fully aware that this won't be a perfect game from the start and I'll just have to wait to see how the game progresses over time. I'm keeping an open mind.

Sadly for football games, they have a very small fixed launch window that players will accept for a game that releases annually. They can't afford to push any sort of release back a few weeks nowadays, let alone a few months, as people want a football game to be released as close to the start of the season as possible.

Will be interesting to see what they serve up on 30th September!
