eFootball (All Platforms)

Konami basically rebranded a "regular demo with online features" as a "free game". It's like they decided their best possible strategy was to lie. Because, trust me, regular folks ignore the content. When they realize it's nothing like what they thought it would be, don't you think this will further destroy the trust and the image of PES?
What about when they find out the master league is nearly as expensive as FIFA (or as expensive as any normal full game for that matter)?

I really, really don't know who was the marketing genius behind all this, but I wouldn't be surprised if efootball 2023 didn't exist at all.

Millions of free players.

But not necessarily consumers. Anyway, my point is that more people than ever will be encouraged give Fifa a try, as there's no need to invest any money in giving eFootball a try.
I’m one of them…..I’m buying FIFA for all its flaws……just not going anywhere near the blue and yellow f2p monstrosity of Enoball

I think problem with Bary-centre is that, iirc (played PES 2014 very little long ago during the year it went out) it was always active. However, PES 2021 has a magic button that let's you switch between using body feints or using the RS to do tricks with the ball. And that's precisely what you want to do, let people use or not your system cause maybe some adapt to it, some others don't, and also it might be a very situational system. Besides you want to have a stick have several uses.

There's s also something else IMHO about Football games and something about FIFA I used to like that is how intuitive is your control mapping. FIFA used to assign RT to sprinting, and LT to slow dribbling, alongside with LB aswell for certain dribblins in certain entries. This allowed for a enormous array of variables that could be used in a match while maintaining certain coherence and intuitiveness with other time of games, apparently not connected to football games, but more connected than what you may think. Racing games. In racing games, as in cars, the right trigger is the gas pedal and the left one is the brake. It's like that irl. So using that mapping for Sprinting/stopping the character, is gonna be much more logical than using RB, for example, like in PES. To the point I ended up mapping sprinting in PES to RT simply because is more natural for me, besides it allows me to keep a more relaxed grip on the pad. Another advantage is that if you want to allow to have different rythms of sprinting, like sprinting slower to control the ball easier when you get to catch it, you can make it with a trigger, but not with a button, and same for stopping a player, very similar, precisely, to how a car works, gassing too suddenly or braking too suddenly doesn't tend to be a good idea unless you know what you're doing, and exactly for the same reason in both cases. Inertias. Is easier to handle inertias if you can control them with a trigger (besides smooth movements in the sticks).

At the same time, you can hold both triggers to enter a different kind of dribbling state and you would have even both shoulder buttons for making different dribblings. Due to left shoulder button being the one to make smooth aerial pasess or shoots that require finesse, it could be used to alter how a player handles a ball, being a modifier to use more smooth movements on the ball, and you could use RB to use manual commands AND... trigger that marvelous Bary-centre system whenever you want, something that would feel logical since Bary-centre was quite a manual system. That way you have 4 buttons that can modify how you treat the ball or how you use your body, giving the possibility of a wider array of animations controlled all by player, and that translates in something good... More complexity in dribbling and therefore, a higher skill ceiling while maintaining certain logical and intuitive control scheme. Just to sum it up.

Right trigger: Sprinting, power shooting.
Left trigger: Stopping, doing sharp turns and stops with the ball, suddenly stopping the ball, precisssion shoots.
Left shoulder button:aerial long pass, lob, wall pass, precise handling (things like jumping with the ball over a sliding tackle, etc.).
Right shoulder: manual passing, Bary-centre system.
Right stick: moving the ball towards the different sides (the way of doing it depending on the modifier) pressing the stick to make different hat tricks.

Why they didn't make it? Cause they are LAZY. And because they were simply too busy figuring out how to make the engine work.
i have always changed LT and RT
always thought it was better to run and shoot with finesse this way

Completely. I always thought I was the only PES player that did that, and I find very pleasing to find another person that does that.
I always do this too! I do it with FIFA and PES, have done for many years. It just feels right sprinting with the big trigger and also swapping players with LT.

By making the game pseudo-free, Konami is URGING their players base to spend a few bucks in trying Fifa 22. It's such a no-brainer to spend money in just one game, that game being Fifa 22... you're not even forcing undecided players to decide on one game or another. That's why there's no attempt to seduce anyone: it's clearly (mistakenly) the law of the lesser effort.
They will lose hundreds of players.
They didn't make the game anything. It has been free-to-play online since 2016. You only had to pay to play the offline modes. eFootball? It's free to play online, and you pay to play offline modes. Nothing changed, other than the fact they don't have to release two titles anymore.

Interestingly enough, I've seen general media saying "now it´s free".

Interestingly enough, I've seen general media saying "now it´s free".

Because:

1. General media (or even gaming based media) has no clue about PES
2. Konami marketed terribly to everyone, as they do with everything
3. The name PES Lite made it look like it was either a demo, a really cut back version or something different like FM Touch.

But PES Lite was always the online part of normal PES, no cutbacks. eFootball is starting from that.

Yeah I discussed it in my PES 2021 Final Realism Review BTW :D

Great video. I still have to watch it until the end, but the first thing that I notice is that the ball physics are great.
I always said that assisted passing/shooting in pes was to assisted even in the lowest settings. I also tried FUMA, but I couldn't get used to it.
I think they should add another assist level that is much closer to FUMA for the casual player.

I am kinda shocked that the game looks so good in this video. It means the game itself is a gem, but buried under a pile of shit dug by Konami itself. Assisted passing/shooting ruins the game, because the ball physics are floaty and terrible.

fully manual is the only way imo

They spent 95% of budget of having Messi say few words, and online gambling mechanich ... you can bet on that.
Rest 5% was spent on porting mobile game to PC, PS4 and PS5 ....
They didnt even done that right, because there are soo many missing features from previous games.

That's reality folks ...
The budget for Messi, Iniesta and Pique......total waste of money imo.
The few words of these guys....and the hardcore excited face of Pique.....come on.

You literally just need to know a little bit about football and watch the games. Check out one season and analyze every aspect of that sport.
Compare players behaviour and bring all that into the game!
That´s totally enough....there is no need to waste money on Iniesta who says something smart like "the player on the ball is in advantage, because only he decides what to do next" (or something like that).

I use supercancel on the wings. Dribbling and then super cancel to get the right angle for a cross. This results in many goals on superstar and above.
to me the use of supercancel before and after crosses to position your forward was great in pes 2019
but it created a big skill gap, i scored a lot of goals with lukaku on myclub this way

of course konami remove it to pes 2020 after the great and loved demo

Im talking about supercancel just to get one meter in front of defender. That way you can set the player at 45 degree angle to make a good cross. Crosses without good positioning is pointless and especially on superstar and above you need to convert your chances.

You decided to rebrand Winning Eleven from a title that everyone knows to eFootball. What was the reason behind this decision?

For about two years, we had been working on a project to create a new soccer game to coincide with the transition to the next generation of home consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. During the production process, many popular free-to-play titles, including mobile apps, came out in the world. We thought it was time to change something drastically as the market environment became one where games were played for free and items were charged for. We also put a lot of effort into e-sports, and we wanted to increase the scale of that. The new engine, the change in the business model, and the e-sports platform. When these major changes are combined, it will not be a continuation of Winning Eleven, but more than just a sequel. That's why we changed the brand to "eFootball", including overseas. It's a sign of our commitment to change.
However, I'm sure there was a big reaction from both inside and outside the company to the decision to move away from the name "WE", which has been familiar to many fans.
Of course, we've received a lot of feedback on social media. Of course, we've received a lot of feedback, including on social media, and many people say they're going to miss us, and I feel the same way. This year marks the 26th year of the series, and we have spent such a long time nurturing the brand, so there was some resistance to the idea of leaving. However, since the change was made for positive reasons, there was not much negative feedback from within the company.
What is the roadmap for this game? What is the purpose of this?

Recently, it has become a common practice for other companies to open up their roadmaps and get feedback to make them better. By looking a little further ahead, we can give fans something to look forward to, and also make our own plans clearer. eFootball is aiming to be the largest eSports platform, so we've put eSports at the center of our roadmap to make that happen. However, we're not completely focused on e-sports, and we'll continue to offer the same fun ways of playing Winning Eleven. Winning Eleven was highly regarded as a game with interesting battles, and we want to keep that aspect of the game the same in "eFootball".
That's good news for fans who are anxious about the changes that come with the title change.

Yes. However, I hope that people will be able to feel the changes in eFootball instead of just thinking, 'Well, the title changed, but the contents are the same. The game is designed in such a way that you can actually feel the changes when you play it, and we've reviewed the standard control methods from the ground up to create the new engine. We focused on making the battles more interesting, and adopted control methods that fit the game's needs. This is a big change from the previous Winning Eleven series, so even if you haven't played before, I think you can start from the same starting line as the best players in eFootball.

…that probably won’t „waste„ 60 bucks!
My guess is, that for every player "not wasting 60 bucks" there will be 5 new players spending at least 20 bucks, be it online or ML or something else. I'm willing to bet eFootball makes clearly more profit in the first year compared to 2021 or 2020.

What a coincidence I just watched his video as it showed up in my suggestions lol

I've written so much on here about my issues with PES 2021 but I found interesting that you mentioned so much on animations. Personally I focused more on the lack of logic in the game on the transitional stages of the game (going from offense to defense and defense to offense) and the huge role player switching plays in regards to the defensive issues this game has (game loves to select the wrong defender to engage the player on the ball) in addition to the general lack of defensive awareness (non selected players seem oblivious to threats).

I appreciate the amount of detail you put into the video. It was a really good one. I'll certainly be checking out more of your stuff.

I wanna vomit when reading those interviews .... "eFootball is future of gamming" , "eFootball is something new", "eFootball is a platform", "eFootball is e-sport" ...

Just million ways of saying "give your kid this game and a credit card please" ....

Konami and EA have truly lost the plot by comparison. Virtually everything in this trailer is captured from either gameplay with special camera angles or gameplay cutscenes. It looks like an actual next-gen sports game, instead of the trash that football fans get for their videogames.
