Yeah, if I had to pick one or the other, it'd be arcade just for the responsiveness.Read few posts on responsiveness and saw someone say football games MUST BE responsive. By gameplay design choice and as a video game, the point stands correct, but as a simulation, how would you balance it ? I mean, what should a footy game ultimately be ? Simulation or arcade ? or both?
Just like in real life, you lunge/compensate if you find yourself away from the ball, you are trying to respond by making a quick decision. In videogame, they can have something similar, but compensate the accuracy of the outcome (if its a finished game) or just skip animation which is the lazy way out for devs. It ultimately depends on the vision and efficiency of the game designer. With what older pes had at their disposable, they were master of this juggling act which newer PES seems to severely missing.
But, it looks like I want completely arcadish responsiveness, but I don't want arcade style mindless AI and bad ball physics. So for me, I prefer a mix of both arcade and simulation.
Now the real problem is, they can't please everyone since people have different preferences. So we got games like fifa 14, pes 18-21 on one hand, and fifa 15,18, pes 06, 08, 13 on the other hand. Unless they give option in game to turn on/ off responsive locomotion.
