EA SPORTS FC 27

Yep I’ve tweaked that, but the AI still behave as individuals when they press or attack. Very limited in attack, no passing back or around etc. not sure what to tweak for that. It’s probably all the errors put on them.

User settings are wonderful though, hoping for better AI solutions so I can finally start career mode!

You can take the risk in attacking by the buildup speed slider, forcing the CPU to play around more. But this may result in getting the ball in midfield to easy if errors are to high.

As said, usually end up giving the CPU about +2 in acceleration and +3 in sprint speed. It opens up possibilities to use free areas and you have more work to defend them. Combined with the increased dribbling intervals (around 55-60) it works really great this year, although i have not found the sweet spot in (early) shooting right now.

Career mode is brutal this year. Stamina seems more realistic, add in the dynamic overall system and you really have to manage the game time of your players. I am just over half way through the season and I am having to rotate pretty much every game. Unfortunately, a lot of my squad players OVR has dropped because I did not play them enough in the first part of the season.

Similarly with transfers, not sure if it is because I am a lower rated team but trying to attract and sign players can be really difficult. Even when you do agree terms with a player, several other clubs will be in for them too.

Career Mode is brilliant, IMO. Clearly put together with great care by a team who have a clear vision and know football games inside-out.

If only they'd make the gameplay too. Can you imagine?

Re: the transfers, I have seen similar criticism (that when your attempt to sign someone falls through, which it often does at lower levels, they instantly sign for someone else).

I don't feel like it's totally unrealistic (if someone is talking to you and looking for a move, they're going to be talking to multiple clubs and looking for the best deal, and they'll likely pick their club and reject the others within a very short timeframe). But it might be a little too difficult.

I have no doubt they'll tweak it if it is (I know there's a transfer difficulty option but I know I wouldn't want to make it easier, just realistic without being too harsh).

reminds me of Pro Evo 2021 transfers hahah

got used to it back then can play manager career here fine too

the massive improvement for me is faster smoother negotiation and also finally searching for gems are easier too due to robust search function

Ive buckled and ordered the standard version. The fact that EA have no competition plays into their hands. I must be able to get it to an enjoyable state with the amount of sliders this year.

If last year's game was good, you buy next year's game.
If last year's game sucked, you buy next year's game, cos surely this year is an improvement.
They can't lose.
Plus, they then rake in billions with degenerate kids gambling, legally, lovely stuff.
EPL teams now can't have gambling on shirts, but EA sponsoring everything football is fine.
Hmm, what's worse adults gambling or kids?

You wanna really make yourself angry, read the /r/fut subreddit.

Keepers man, been playing the old pro evos the last 12 months and the keepers coming off the line quick was fantastic, in this clip he comes forward then goes back, this needs sorting.

What skill level are you playing on?
I haven't bothered installing the game yet this year, due to the demo being s**t.

But the AI defending there is more of a reason to hate the game than the keeper not moving.
Why was no one marking a player clearly in a dangerous position and in true FIFA style a simple through ball ends in a goal.
In that 15 second clip there Gary Neville would have a heart attack and go on a massive rant about Man Utd defending for 30 minutes.

Defensive masterclass. (authentic, world class)
That isn't even Sunday league defending.
Both CB's are standing in FB positions with a striker standing in a position to just get a through ball and run through.
If that is World Class, Authentic gameplay then it really is very sad times.

Unless your striker is Victor MOSES then I have no idea why the defense is so parted.

This is a really, really good example of why Authentic just can't be considered playable to me (or a "realistic" gameplay mode) - because it can't stop the core gameplay design from existing (i.e. they have deleted years' and years' worth of AI for the sake of the online player who bitches about "AI defending").

I swear, I promise, I'm glad people can enjoy the game, but I live in fear that it will never get close enough to the glory years of FIFA that I can ever get any enjoyment out of it personally. How can you enjoy it when it's as devoid of intelligence as it is?

How do you look past this, and the lack of physics? I just can't understand how anyone does it. "It's only a game?" Sure, but so was FIFA 16/17 and it is factually nowhere near as dumb!

"Authentic" can't magically add what doesn't exist at a core level. Without a separate game, I don't see FC ever delivering an intelligent experience, and it breaks my heart, man. They'll never do it.

By any chance Chris have you tried cpu vs cpu games? Not sure if its even possible, im just wondering if its entertaining, exciting or if its an annoying snooze fest like in most football games and the AI is incompetent. Im just here, havent really got into any modern football game for 6 years now at all, have a PS5 finally so i might buy this if at least the cpu and cpu action is exciting and play a "manager career mode". PS i know FM exists but i suck at that completely and i spend way too much time in the menus and i still feel like i dont spend enough probably in order to succeed.

gameplay off-topic:

Who in the world decided that it would be a good idea to assign a youth player to your 1st team and then immediately switch to the team overview menu?? When there are several youth players i'd like to assign to the 1st team, I always have to go back to the academy menu, select the next youth player, assign him, and then it's again a long way back to the youth menu, because it immediately shows the current team menu...
Why the hell is it not possible anymore to select a youth player one after the other??

Man, you can't tell me that all testers thought this is a good way to navigate through the game. :CURSE::MAD:

The issue of goalkeepers failing to rush off their line automatically stems directly from designing the core gameplay around competitive online play. The underlying reason is that if a goalkeeper comes out based on their own AI and natural attributes, competitive online players complain about losing manual control over whether the keeper rushes out or stays. In essence, this issue is tied directly to the broader push for "manual defense over team AI," where online players demand that team defense AI be minimized so everything remains strictly in the player's hands.

As a result, goalkeepers remain glued to their line, making their individual AI, overall ratings, and 1v1 skill attributes largely meaningless. Consequently, 1v1 situations become intensely repetitive, monotonous, and frustrating. Goals are scored in nearly identical ways, completely stripping these breakaway moments of any excitement, variety, or dynamic outcome.

Another reason why "authentic" is nothing but a gimmick to attempt to pacify the dissenters. If authentic was an actual thing then this is a prime example of a feature that would be different to that of competitive.

Try arena mode on FIFA 11. Legitimately is hard to score 1v1 against the keeper. You have to get the timing just right - too early he can still dive. Too late and he cuts off your angle. It’s a very narrow window.

It's not the highest difficulty level. Players are supposed to make mistakes on lower difficulties so people can actually score goals once in a while when they're learning how to play the game.
