Really hope online has authentic mode capability. Also the notes confirm what we all suspected - They toned down Defensive Ai massively. What year do you think they started that?

You won’t be able to play authentic mode online according to the notes, they probably didn’t think there would be a big enough target audience for it. “Competitive Gameplay is mandatory/locked in FUT, Clubs, Online Seasons, and Online Friendlies. It is optional in Kick-Off and Career Mode.”
 
I remember someone from EA last year spoke about the possibility of rivals and the FIFA game, and I'm just thinking, are they doing this for a reason, suddenly bothering to try and cater for both audiences, when the other makes them so much money anyway.

I believe it was 2020 with the ‘1v1’ mechanic, but it was at least bearable that year, it got significantly worse in the following years where midfielders would just stand there and watch
 
Looking back at the gameplay, it’s kinda reminds me of early FIFA 22, which a lot of people seemed to enjoy before all the patches

gameplay experience.

Authentic gameplay is not playable in Ultimate Team or Clubs.

Our goal with Authentic Gameplay is to create a true-to-football experience with a heavy
emphasis on realism, strategy, and immersion.

This is an experience tailored for those who enjoy methodical and less predictable gameplay.

What allows us to achieve the above is not just the Competitive mechanic toggle, but also the Authentic Gameplay Sliders. We have carefully tuned them to accomplish that true-to-football experience with a heavy focus on realism and immersion. Weather Effects are also turned on by default.

The changes to Authentic Gameplay aim to deliver on three authentic community priorities:

Immersion, Realism, and Less Predictability.

The main differences in Authentic Gameplay are:
● Authentic Sliders
● Weather Effects, including Wind, Rain, and Snow
● Lower speeds for dribbling and skill moves
● More physics-based GK rebounds, blocks, and bounces
● More realistic tackle accuracy
● Greater AI defending enabled, with tighter defensive lines and defenders reacting
realistically when a ball is nearby
● More realistic and tighter positioning in midfield
● More realistic header passing and shooting accuracy
● Corner kicks and Crossing tuned to match real-world success rates
● Players avoiding a ball might occasionally be hit by it instead
● More realistic animation transitions
● Human-like reactions and get up animations

This setting activates a set of features that are specifically designed to support the Authentic gameplay type, such as the increased influence of physics in ball movement, or the increased assistance with AI defending.

This toggle is locked when in Authentic Gameplay, but can be turned on/off when customizing
your gameplay type. It cannot be turned on in Competitive.

Note: EA not only divided the gameplay, but also divided the gameplay teams to work on one competitive mode and the other authentic mode.
 
New Sliders!

Additionally, we heard our Career Mode Community and have introduced 5 new sliders to
further enhance the authenticity of gameplay. Here’s the breakdown:

● Header Shot Error - Increases/reduces the amount of error applied to a user/CPU
team’s headed shots.

● Header Pass Error - Increases/reduces the amount of error applied to a user/CPU
team’s headed passes.

● Intercept Error - Increases/reduces the amount of error applied to a user/CPU team’s
ability to control the ball when intercepting passes.

● Ball Deflection Error - Increases/reduces the impact of physics on a user/CPU team’s
ball deflection. The higher the number, the more the outcome will be driven by physics
interactions.

● Tackle Assistance - Increases/reduces the user/CPU team’s tackling assistance. The
higher the number, the more forgiving the tackles will be.

● Note: Error refers to an action not being performed as perfectly as possible

Yeah EA clearly states it's not just a set of sliders that separates the two modes like last year. As far as I understand there are specific gameplay animations for authentic modes.

3 key area will determine if I will need to use a mod for pc.
- Unpredictability. It's key for me. No match should look the same.
-Players prone to error. Even superstars should make errors in a match. Passing, shooting, tackling etc.
-Players momentum. They introduced the feature that the speed and weight of a players would matter when changing direction in fifa 13 but they gradually removed it. Now players like Konate stop on dime and change direction like a feather in the air. Weight doesn't matter.

There are a third group that EA missed. The people (like me) that can’t get into playing the CPU (since they never can make Barca play different from Portsmouth) but HATE the FUT- skating- ping- pong- rainbow flick- crap.
 
Finally, Ea listened to the offline players and removed the 1 x 1 defense that is the main shit of the old FIFAs, and now with the authentic gameplay separated from the online and with more slide options I will finally be able to retire PES 5 and FIFA 16, I hope so!
 
Ok i have seen the trailer and read the gameplay deepdive.
Very interesting.

Let's see what happened in real life.

I didn't see FC IQ v2 with custom position, the big fail of FC 25.

I hope having a beta, I have already preorder the game.
FC 25 was fun with sliders, and on paper, FC 26 should be even better in many gameplay areas.

PES is dead so for offline players, we have no many choices : Football Life 26 or or maybe EA FC 26.

This actually sounds promising. Especially the animation transition speeds. It’s fucking insane to me this isn’t what everyone wants 🥴
 
If you squint, that Kane to Olise pass later in the video looks like it could have been taken out of PES 2021.

I'll give the 10 hour trial a go. They have nowhere to hide if they fuck this up, this is the first time since I was in school that the new Fifa game isn't boasting about better graphics and animations before gameplay.
 
They didn't mention signature animations like last year. Top players like Vini,Haaland, Salah have their running,dribbling and shooting animations but I want them to add signature movements of most of "not famous" players.
I'd like to see Y. Minteh dashing animation
 
I'm a little underwhelmed based on the authentic mode footage, but there's very little to go off admittedly.

There are still examples of defenders just jogging away from opponents, which is a killer...

...and even when it's the user-controlled defender doing it, the fact that they glide away so quickly (with the intertia of a car, not a human being) and have so little grounding to the man they're supposed to be marking...

Yeah, I need to play it, but I'm less hopeful than I was. It still looks to me like a game about scoring goals, with little emphasis on the technical aspects of defending (and the joy of it). Passes to feet still look insanely accurate and with no control needed from the recipient.

Also, the list of features in the trailer that "apply to both gameplay presets" include things that don't sound complimentary to me...

E.g. more responsive everything - you can't make passing more responsive if the ball is free and is a distance away from the player - there has to be a delay as they catch up, and if there isn't, you're still faking physics for "fun's" sake, which shouldn't EVER be part of a sim mode.

Same applies to the "winning the ball more often" stuff... If that applies to authentic mode, like they say it does, they're overriding the physics of where the ball should end up to reward the player. Again, that doesn't belong in a sim mode.

That's not to say there aren't positives - love the sound of the shielding, love the sound of the improved dribbling, love the sound of the simplified trick-stick.
 
Maybe EAS have seen that now is the time to strike, with the frustrations around eFootball's lack of ML. They have spotted they can get a few more sales, but they need to offer something to those people, and a more sim-type gameplay is what's required. They've spoken all the correct things. I'm now looking forwards to the game. I'm also aware in how they can ruin things with updates etc., but going by here, I'm maybe not as 'sensitive' to these things as others. I'll try it first on the EA Play trial (alongside F1 25, as I'm curious about that also, but that's OT here), then if it is much to my preference/enjoyment, then I will go for it
 
On paper, the game looks good but a too much responsiv game is not what we want AT all. A simulation game should have full complete animations every where.

They didn't talk about Hypermotion. TRACAB is their new technology.
Maybe now we can have realistic moves and a responsive game.

I'm really want to see more gameplay on "authenthic gameplay".
If it works well it could be a gamechanger.

Watched it again, there's a lot to be hopeful about.
  • Low drilled shots replacing timed shooting
  • Being able to shield the ball when being pressed, this makes the midfield actually relevant and not just a game of hot potato trying to get the ball to the forwards
  • Better forward runs, this one is what usually makes me give up every year. The attacking runs in Fifa are so braindead
  • Snappier passing
These things have little to do with simulation football, except the ball shielding one. But the 'good' Fifa games like 14 had all these things and they've been forgotten about as they catered more and more towards brainrot UT gameplay.
