Vnz i wish you would stop posting in here, all you do is slag off Chelsea. You may have had a bad experience in the past with Chelsea fans or you're just pissed off that you finished below us, but give it a break ffs. Every post is moan moan moan. Leave it out, please.

I think he illustrates the fact that some (not all) Man Utd fans have diffculty accepting that their team is on a downward spiral. A few years ago his team used to win the PL easily and looked like a half decent side in the CL. Now they are miles behind Arsenal and Chelsea, both of whom have reserve teams as good as (or in the case of Chelsea better) than Man Utd first team. Add to that the fact they'll now have to qualify for the group stages of the CL, and might get a tricky tie. It all means their metaphorically running scared. Last season they won the FA Cup, not a bad competiton but over recent years they've opted out of it and/or fielded weak teams in it - I guess anyone would be upset if they'd witnessed such a decline.

Anyway back to Chelsea, I think they'll have a simlar season to last one. I dunno how good Moriniho will be, but even if he turns out good it could take a few games for Chelsea to adapt to his system. They could win the CL with a bit of luck (every team needs luck to win it) - much will depend on how well the top Italian and Spanish team fare. A lot of people have been talking about the problems Robben's arrival might make in terms of Duff and Gronkjær, I too think Jesper will go (maybe to Betis) and Damien will stay. I dont know why hes letting Hasselbaink go, I can only assume he is going to buy a very good striker over the summer - I suppose if it goes wrong he could recall Forsell at Christmas. One of the main flashpoints in the Chelsea squad could be the goalkeeper. Cudicini and Chech are both decent keepers (and at last you can bid farewell to the clown know as Sullivan - he cost u the FA Cup). I dont know which one Moriniho will start with but I dont think goalkeepers are easy players to have in a rotation system. They need to build up a certain degree of rapport with their defenders, and if he keeps swapping between Cheh and Cudicini then it could cause all sorts of confusion. On the other hand if he drops one of them then I can see the rejected player being unhappy. Chech is the first choice Czech goalkeeper, but Cudicini may well fancy his chances of being second choice Italian goalkeeper behind Buffon (Toldo has retired, Peruzzi is anchient, and Pelizolli isnt very good). If he wants this to happen then he will need to be playing regularly for his club.

If Moriniho get a decent workign system then I think you will finish second in the league, but will push Arsenal almost all the way. The third place team (most probably Liverpool) will be a bit futher behind you than Man Utd were last season - the PL will probably be a 2 horse race. I dont know who will finish fourth maybe one of Newcastle, Man Utd Villa, or even outsiders like Spurs or Boro if they get off to a good start.

Either way at the rate theyre going Chelsea will win the double (or treble if they want it) sometime within the next 5 years, which is a lot of progress for a team that looked like being the "new Leeds" this time last year.

lol, quality, post of the day, pure comedy!!

Gronkjaer was linked with Sevilla yesterday, and Atletico Madrid before that. The sure thing is that he is off. Hasselbaink has had one foot out the door since before last season. I think this time it's just a case of the manager's preferences. He has an idea who he wants to use in his plans etc. This Kezman news looks like a direct replacement if it completes. there's still a backlogue of players to get rid of though. Agree about the keepers, the only 3 i would like to see there are Carlo Cudicini, Peter Cech and Jürgen Macho, or the young Yves Makaba Makalamby.
I appreciate Mourinho's culling because it's going to see more players get a chance, and i imagine he's going to be less of a tinkerman
Looking forward to the new season to see what he implements. Got a friendly against Oxford Utd on the 17th of July.

Totally agree with you there Van! If that was meant to be a serious post then

Anyways, if you sign Kezman how many strikers will you have on your books? Any chance you could toss one our way ;)
And from a boro point of view, id like a Chelski input on this: What are the chances of Mourinho keeping Zenden to have a look over at him? With the likes of Duff and Robben and the fact he likes a small squad (or so ive heard) im hoping our chances are pretty high. Oh and any rumours down south that Geremi is been sent out on loan back up here? Thats one that wont go away up north.
Cheers fellas

You could either wait and snap him up on a free next year, or buy/loan him meanwhile. He wants to stay in England, so unless Mourinho defo wants him or amother Prem club i reckon it's looking good for Boro. ;) Don't know about Geremi, time will tell. Viduka's a good signing for you though.

Well what is factually incorrect about the post ? Man Utd are on the decline, and Chelsea are on the up. Chelsea could put out a reserve side that is better (or at least as good as) Man Utd's 1st team. Man Utd won the FA Cup last season, which they have tended to neglect in previous years. They havent gone directly into the group stage of the champions league this season, as they finished 3rd last season. They will have to play a tie over two legs, as will teams like Rangers, Benfica etc (and Newcastle did last year) to get into the group stage proper. Last season was the worst Man Utd had for quite some time.

Chelsea on the other hand got to the semis of the CL, and came second in the league, meaning automatic CL group stage entry - a better season than their previous ones. It is true to say that there has been a power shift and Man Utd are no longer the top dogs of English football, they have slipped behind Chelsea and Arsenal.

Or how bout theres a man u thread if u wanna chat bout man u's demise. This is a chelsea thread [on topic banter only] lol.

hahaha vaniz, you know that was aimed at the both of you! :D

o well, i tried to bring peace into this thread now im gon have to go OLD SKOOOOOOOOL on your asses!

Well we were unbeaten in 3 games against Arsenal last season so I don't know where all this "Arsenal's reserve team are just as good as United" is coming from. Especially as we beat Arsenal without RVN too. I don't believe in this shift of power malarky myself either. Arsenal went 3 seasons without winning the league a few years ago and now look at them. Everyone has bad seasons, people just like to write off United too easily. Add to the fact that last season was full of new faces for us who are yet to settle in the team, I don't see any "crisis" at Old Trafford yet.

Oh, and apologies for making a completley off-topic post by the way. Edmundo started it. ;)

thats the thing though there isnt a shift of power, ABU's always confuse what they would like to happen with reality,

Right move along y'all. If edmundo would like to carry on theres the OT joke thread as Vann said, if you wanna talk about Man Yoo then theres the Man Yoo thread. If you wanna talk about Boro however use any thread you like since i doubt you'll be talking about us anyway ;)

Anyway Noise will keep you fellas right. He'll keep you all in line and start slapping hands with rulers if you dont behave wontcha noise :)

well lets not get off topic,

but im sure we can all agree that next seson we be in a better position to see if there has been the great shift of power south (as some have suggested) or if Man Utd are as strong as they used to be (as others have said) ... we shall see next May.

back to Chelsea, what does everyone think their strongest team will be?

or will there be a rotation system ? (Personally I think not as Moriniho seems to want a small squad which wouldnt adhere to rotation as much as last season).

well tbh I dont think Ranners wanted all the players that he was burdened with last season.

Bit surprised they're signing Kezman, I think they've tried a few bigger names and gave up. Not sure if I'd have him before Mutu, even though he wasn't too successful in his first season I think he's an excelllent player.

Chelsea have apparantly nicked davids off tottenham. I personally think this wil be a greatb signing for us as davids performances for barca last season and holland in euro 2004 have been very good to sometimes outstanding.

I don't know if Davids is a good signing. Sure he has a good work rate, but he spits the dummy a lot (especially if he's on the bench) and racks up suspensions no end. He's only good when he's in-form and happy. Do you think he'll get some blue tinted glasses if he moves?
