"A deliberate trip doesn't get a yellow, what rules you using mate "

It wasn't a deliberate trip, did you see it? Eidur went to make the challenge as Clichy's leg went back, so they tangled legs. A foul, yes, but it wasn't deliberate.

"But getting back to business, how can you spend over 120 million and play so badly? Money simply cannot buy team spirit which Arsenal have a huge abundance of. Questions need answering but I hope Raneri keeps his job, he's a great character in the game"

No questions need answering, because you basically answered them. We aren't a team yet, spending £120m is obviously going to disrupt things. We need at least a season to gel. Arsenal play as a team. Only 2 people were brought into an already established team. Our whole squad has been changed, I wasn't expecting immediate success. And yes, we need to keep Ranieri.

That aint how you quote mate. Click reply with quote.

You could clearly see on the replay that Eiður stepped on his foot on purpose, he raised his foot a little and followed through. When you do that from behind and stop a counter-attack then that's a booking.

If you look at it again he actually caught both Clichy's feet with both of his feet, so that makes it even worse.

Fuck it, he got sent off, case closed.

With the amount of Arsenal supporters posting in this thread you would think it was the bloody Arsenal thread. Don't you guys have a home to go to? ;)

Moving on now. So lads, Champions League again next week. How do you think we're going to fare against Stuttgart? Hopefully Duff will be back, and hopefully we'll raise our game a bit and match our first stage performances. With no other silverware up for grabs, (realistically) it would be nice to get as far as possible. Mind you, we did pretty well last time, anyone remember those games against Barcelona and Milan (Wise's equaliser), er but not the one when Barca whipped us, i was thinking about the first leg ;)

Stuttgart are having a rather bad spell..so it's the right time for Chelsea to play against them...Still, it hink they are a good side...

Yeah, when it comes to the CL, form goes out the window, like FA Cup games. You forget about your domestic situation etc....

Not a Chelski fan as you all know, but i read in the paper today a list of all the players will get rid of in the summer. i definately agree with your large squad abramovich should get rid of some players - but it said Makelele and Hasselbaink???? i couldnt belive it, IMO makelele was the buy of the season and hasselbaink has been your forward of the season.

I could see JF going, as he's always been on the brink, but Maka!! No way, he's like our best form of defence in the midfield. A great holding player. I for one don't want to see him go. I can think of others i wouldn't want to see next season *cough* Veron.

Absolutely rubbish. I feel that Chelsea have had a good season, if they come third, thats great!, if they reach to the quarters of the champs lge, thats also great! They may not win anything, but at least they came close. Just goes to show that Ranieri and the players have done a good enough job in my books.

About Veron: England doesn't seem to suit him...anyway, i would give him another year to prove himself...

About Chelsea: nobody sane would have expected them to win the EPL this year...as a matter of fact, they are doing quite good...

And i don't know why, but i think Chelsea can win the Champions League...they have the team for it and there is less need for consistency to win a cup than a league...it should suit Chelsea....

i think the boys still need more time to get gel. IMHO, they still cant play the game as smooth as arsenal or man. utd.(Although I dont like arsenal but i still need to agree they play smooth.)

i'm a chelsea fans. I believe they can play much better in the next season.

I'd be happy finishing 3rd, 2nd would be great. Another top 3 finish! Pretty good if you ask me.
As for Veron, i really don't think he'll make any impact next season either. I'd love to be wrong, but imo The Premiership is just not for him. I personally would always start Lampard or J Cole before him for Chelsea.

AHHH i hate when people say that. THey dont neeed anymroe time to gel, they have played enough together, they are doing fine. It is not that. It is just the little lack of quality in some positoins. For example, a back up goalkeeper, who is coming...Petr Cech and maybe a right midfielder, other than that they have the squad and the talent. People have already said so much about how they ahve gelled, the passing is good, the teamwork is great, it is just the manager. The team has gelled, they even have nicknames for each other. Mutu's is Puff Daddy because of his love of R&B. www.adrianmutu.com

lol

But I still think they need to buy some world-class young defender or midfielder (quality like Nesta, Stam, Kaka, Rosicky, Lampard and so on...) to beef up the team. And I've read an old rumour said Roman want to buy Ronaldo in the next season. I think that's a very cool idea. (I know Crespo and Mutu are great!!) IMO, buying classy defender and midfielder is the most important thing for the team in the summer.

Chelsea don't need Ronaldo...i sincerely hope foor Chelsea and football that they don't become the next Real Madrid...If so they would lose a lot of my sympathy...
What tehy need are back-ups and strong young players English and foreign...
If Roman really has that much money (and he has) why not go for a shopping tour in Santos. They have a great team with young players who know each other on and off the field....

If Ronaldo came to the Bridge it would be for all the wrong reasons, and it could well turn into a nightmare for the both of us. He is an outstanding attacking player however, more than often able to craft a goal out of nothing, which is really what we need. At the moment, only Mutu shows threatening creativity amongst the strikers. Gudjohnsen, of whom i am a fan, has great technique (i'd rather we didn't sell him in the summer), but lacks that scary pace/acceleration factor. JF just waddles around, and Crespo, well he's still nowhere near his potential. I'd soon be tempted to play young J Cole as a secondary striker, as he once did at West Ham periodically. But then i'm not the manager......perhaps i should be <scratches chin and pensively looks upwards>

We need another central defender. And a solid right back.

Cannavaro recently stated he wanted to come to England to play in the premiership. And as for trabelsi...:D..

haha yeah i bet veron will go, perhaps Norwich could snap him up ;) i'm glad you thought the same as me on makelele. i don't think abramovich would let him go.

Well here's a lead on Veron....speculation of course

Nedved keen on Prem
Pavel Nedved has hinted he would like to play in England before retiring in 2006 when his contract with Juve ends. "I would not say no to an experience in the English Premiership," said the Czech ace. Juve may cash in on the 31-year-old with a possible swap deal with Juan Veron of Chelsea being suggested.

Frankly, I think Veron would be better off back in Serie A.

Yeah he would be better back in Serie A, but i couldn't really see him going to Juventus. A gut feeling. They'd probably go for someone like Rosicky, Nedved's maybe successor? Does anyone know if it's certain that he's leaving Dortmund in the summer? I won't be playing as them on WE again then if he goes..

Cant imagine if we have Cannavaro & Nedved in the next season. wow~~~

But I think Chelsea still need 1-2 more world-class defender & midfielder.

Hm.. Just my opinion, I think Maresca is good but I dont think Chelsea want to buy him.

I think if Cudicini cant play in the CL Stuttgart match, they should try to use Ambrosio rather than Sully. Sully played like shit in the last 2 games...
