Yeah sure but you should have posted in the Football Highlights thread, or the Football Goals thread as its called

hmm.. i am really dissapointed. First of all, i watch essien lots before, and he ain't that great. First of all, he's quite small not as big as everyone makes him out to be. Not great in the air either he even said that himself. Also, he very rarely scores, yes i know he scored some goals in the champions league, but he rarely scores in the french league. He shines because of his midfield partner, Mahamadou Diarra (who is an awesome defensive midfielder). If i were manager, i wouldn't pay more than 8 million for essien. Maybe he has potential, maybe he'll prove me wrong (hopefully) but.. i dunno.. I'm yet to be impressed by Jose Mourinho in the transfer market. I wish we'd have signed Andrea Pirlo instead, immagine a midfield trio of Lamps, Maka and Pirlo (and no, Pirlo is not a box to box player like lampard, he's more of a playmaker, something we lack, but he also does his defensive job too.. and amazing at set pieces)

Hm you do have a point.

Ranieri's Signings.

Cech :)
Robben :)
Duff :)
Makelele :)
Crespo hmm
Mutu :(
Johnson :(
Bridge :)
Joe Cole hmm at first, and then :)
Parker :(
Petit :)
Gallas :)
Zenden hmm
Veron :(
Geremi :(

Jose's Signings
Del Horno :)
Shawn Wright Phillips dno
Essien dno
Drogba hmm
Carvalho :)
Ferreira :)
Tiago hmm
Jarosik :(
Smertin(Kinda) :(

The question is if for example Smertin really is a Smertin player.
And Joe Cole only started to play well under Mourinho...
Essien will prove to be a great player...

Good point about dubious tranfers - it is quite amazing to see how good Ranieri was at picking the best sweets in the sweet shop! I mean, Makelele was an absolute steal.....it's a pity his face didn't fit. One dodgy CL semi-final (Monaco) and he was out. It does seem unfair. The "Tinkerman" was perhaps too nice, but he couldn't half choose a player....

Yeah i remember that night, the players said they could not take getting knocked out of teh Semis again, but oh well.

What i wanted to to write was: "the question is if Smertin really was a Mourinho transfer (Smertin being Russian and Abramovich too - maybe he wanted a Russian player in his team????).

FUCKK YEAH!

WHAT A WIN, THAT IS AN ATTRIBUTE OF TRUE CHAMPIONS, GRABBING WINS WHEN YOU DONT NEED EM!!

Yeahh!!!

Sorry for the delay in picking up on this but grabbing wins when you don't need em? What the fuck! Are Chelsea that good that they can afford to lose games or were the greatest team in football ever planning on giving us mere mortals a head start until Crespo ruined it.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Ricardo Carvalho says it is "incomprehensible" that he was left out of Chelsea's starting line-up on Sunday at Wigan.

The Portuguese centre-half did not even make the bench as Jose Mourinho chose to partner John Terry with William Gallas and opted for Robert Huth as cover.

Carvalho says he has thought long and hard and cannot understand why he was not in Mourinho's plans.

"I want to know why I didn't play. How can I explain when I don't understand it?" said Carvalho, who is on international duty with Portugal.

"Sincerely, I gave a lot of thought and time to myself but cannot find a valid explanation. It's totally incomprehensible.

"I don't understand why Mourinho said I have to wait for another opportunity to play this season. I don't know why he told me what he did."

Carvalho played the majority of games for Chelsea last season after his £20m move from Porto, where he also had problems with Mourinho.

"At Porto I didn't have an easy life with Mourinho, especially in the year he arrived, but in time I recovered my confidence and finished in a big way," he said.

"I don't want an identical situation at Chelsea. I don't believe I'm going to be third choice.

"The Premiership has begun and I will play many games, I have no doubt. It's incomprehensible that I will become third cho

I meant deserve! Hahha i dont know i think i was multitasking at the time.

Central defensive partnership August 2004 - present
Terry & Gallas Other combinations
Full Games 18 31
Time played 1740 3720
Goals conceded 1 33
Clean sheets 17 18

Maybe he was right to drop 19M Carvalho.

IQ test?
Hmm..

Anyway

Essien set to sign.

Jarosik > Birmingham

No.. i read he's flying into for his medical on Monday. Not like got a lack of midfielders in the centre ;)

Another ego to juggle along with Carval-ho!

I'm guessing he'll wear the number 7 shirt? or perhaps 5.

EDIT:

Looks like No. 5 ;)

Chelsea Are Just Gearing up for the Treble , You need a big squad, Plus last year Chelsea didnt suffer many key injuries, so you dont know what can happen this time around, so you have to be prepared. I think Essien will do well , lets hope!
