Lampard - it's like United
Friday, August 12, 2005

“We had to deal with a lot of animosity last season and we know we’re going to face even more of it this time. Everyone wanted to beat us because of the money and the unique situation that goes with Chelsea. Now we are the champions and our opponents will all be trying even harder when Chelsea are in town. You can feel the resentment in the streets when you are approaching the ground. Their fans will raise their level of support and their players will go up an extra gear. I can kind of understand it because we’ve got resources which a lot of other clubs don’t have and it puts people’s backs up. People want to knock us down and we have to use that knowledge to create a special spirit within our camp. And that’s what the manager is very good at. Now I can appreciate what Manchester United have had to put up with over the past 10 years. But when you’re getting criticism from all angles you use it to make yourself even stronger.”

Word on the web is that the Mikel ruling comes out today...though there isn't that much time left. Should be interesting. Apparently his manager has already gone to London to prepare his arrival at Stamford bridge...

I've just posted a link in the United thread, apparently FIFA say we're the only club he can play for.

The link was mainly quotes from the coach, nothing from FIFA yet. If a Chelsea verdict is delcared, and the judges all drive away in really nice new sports cars, I won't be too surprised...

Whether or not he's wants to play for us or Chelsea, I dont care. The fact is that he belongs to us cuz regardless of how the deal was done, we're the only team that made an official signing under all of FIFA's rules.

So the way I see it, If Chelsea want him, they can buy him off us.

He was only sent back cuz their season hasnt finished. Even if there wasnt any dispute, he would have been sent back and then joined the team he signed for around Christmas time or New Year.

I blame the player and the agent(s).
What an idiot. How can you "promise" to join a club, take money from them personally and then not wrap up the deal officially, and then let your team sell you to someone else?

I dont blame Chelsea. They wanted a player and did a deal with Mikel. Whether or not that counts as tapping up, I dunno.
Man Utd went to the club Lyn Oslo and did an official deal with the player, so its not their fault either.

This is basically like a man having an affair with two women.
