We know. It was posted here a few posts up.

I'm starting to think he's not worth. He'd be a good buy for Chelsea cuz they have the perfect place for him in the team and they also have the money to spend. Man Utd on the other hand need someone who can almost guarantee success like Ballack.
Essien is more or a gamble.

Im ecstatic about this, especially now that the whole Gerrard thing has blown over. Essien to fill that spot in midfield next to Lamps and Maka!

You dont know if he'll move for sure. I dont believe a word he says cuz he says a lot of things. And from the looks of it, it sounds like his words were influenced by someone like his agent. Dont get too excited until it actually looks excited. As far as we know, he could be looking for a better contract elsewhere.

And I think Gerrard would have been like the greatest signing ever for Chelsea. Having Makalele just behind Lampard and Gerrard who can both burst forward and track back to defend while Makalele playing as the middle man with his important passes would be likel a wet dream. The idea of it happening was too good to be true.

I was impressed with dude when I saw him pay at OT last season, like Lampard though he isnt the most disciplined MF so he's gonna have to learn to hold the MF with maka (who is the perfect DMF) and not bomb forward so much.

But while Makalele is still in the team, both Lampard and Essien can go forward which is pretty good for them.
If they had Gerrard it would have been so much better.

yeah... one hell of a midfield with SG. But what the hell, we all know he ain't coming to chelsea.
And now it's even more likely that chelsea will buy a new midfielder, since smertin went to charlton.

Theyve blocked his move :(

Lyon block Chelsea's Essien move

Lyon's star midfielder Michael Essien appears set to stay with the club rather than join Chelsea.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon met president Jean-Michel Aulas and manager Gerard Houllier on Tuesday but the clubs' positions did not change.

Lyon have already rejected a £16.75m offer and insist Essien, 22, will stay, even though the player has said he wants to join the English champions.

Aulas said he only agreed to meet Kenyon to stop him "chasing Michael".

The Lyon president also said Essien would travel with Lyon to South Korea on Wednesday to play in the Peace Cup tournament.

Lyon have repeatedly stated that their prize midfielder was not for sale but Essien is adamant he will not stay.

The French footballer of the year has pleaded with Lyon to let him move to the Premiership champions.

"I want to leave. I want to play in England at Chelsea," he told French sports daily L'Equipe.

"I've thought it over during the holidays, I've talked to my family, my girlfriend. It's time for me to go and I won't change my mind."

He's a mix of Maka and Lamps and will compliment the two very well - an excellent signing in my opinion

"I want to play in England and in Chelsea. In my head I am already in Chelsea. I am dreaming about it.

"I want to go there, otherwise I will regret it all my life. Things go so fast in football. Such an opportunity might not come up again.

Essien's comments pleased Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho but he would not comment on their chances of signing the player.

He said: "I am happy when big players want to play for Chelsea, but I am not ready to speak about Essien or any other player as I only want to speak about Chelsea players.

"I am always happy when publicly different players say without fear that they admire Chelsea and would like to join the team."

Some British newspapers have reported that Chelsea will complete the signings of Essien and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips by the end of the week.

What you guys think about Jose's complaints about the fixtures favouring Arse-nal. Mr. Dein pulling off some favours for his team huh? :-k

'It's the same with the Premier League fixtures,' Mourinho continued in his first news conference after resuming training last week.

'After the first five rounds of the Champions League this season Chelsea have an away game while Arsenal are always at home. Why do you (the media) have nothing to say about that? Is it only Jose Mourinho who looks at the fixtures who finds something very strange?'

Asked what he would like to see change, he said: 'A person who works in a club should not work in the FA.'

Hes got a point but the FA claimed that their fixture preparation is completely unrelated to the UCL. ALso, I think he is right about Dein.

I think David Gill is also in the FA but you dont see fixtures benefiting Man Utd. Its all an excuse.

Gills not on the Fa board but you cant say that Rune even you beloved Fergie had a pop at Dein being on the FA board last season!

An excuse for what? We won the prem last season and he complained then too :p.
Its an excuse to get an improved fixture list. Isnt that clear to you?
I think its fair to say that the fixture list played a part in your FA Cup and CL loss.

And BTW, since you didnt reply after my post about why players wont come to Chelsea, I'm safely assuming that you accepted defeat. \\:o/

Clearly didnt need it to win the prem though, i mean 11 points.

Rune, do u actually come on this thread to make valid points, or do you just come in looking for an arguement?

Yeah i know, i already showed him my super long Essien post, i thought that was evidence enough. Its overr.

Anyway Chelsea 5- 1 Wycombe

Sulph said:

Then why did he complain in the first place if it isnt a problem?
The fact that Mourinho made those comments proves that it bothers him regardless of whether he won the Premiership.

I just explained why your "super long Essien post" meant nothing but you've decided to ignore it. That in anyone's eyes is admiting he's wrong. How can you believe you're right when all you did was say something and then run off without knowing what the other person has to say? Unless you can go back to my last post and prove to everyone that it doesnt make sense, then you've just accepted defeat.

And for the record, it was YOU that started this whole thing and after the whole arguement had ended, it was YOU that had  to make that "super long Essien post" and start this again. So be a man and either accept defeat or continue this until its finished.
You're starting to piss me off now so dont be an ass by randomly bringing the arguement back just cuz you've finally come up with a "vaild" point.

Just one question regardind what mourinho said.

It seems that this year every weekend after chelsea plays in the CL or there are national games, chelsea plays first then arsenal 1/2 days later.
was it the same last year?
I know that it happened quite sometimes, but was it always?

But if the fixtures were changed, someone else would have complained.
Theres nothing you can do.
The English FA is just stupid when it comes to fixtures cuz they dont want to rearrange to suit clubs with European games like how other countries do.

Apparently Football 365 ran a feature on the fixtures moan when the ego last went on a rant and it worked out that Chelsea had the best deal of the fixtures cause most of the away fixtures were still in London.

I also don't understand the extra day rest point. Most of the time champions league fixtures are weekly so what difference would it make?

Surely if Chelsea play on Sat and Arsenal on a Sunday that would mean Arsenal have less of rest before their next champions league game.

My final point would be on the comment that Kenyon could be on the board! Osama Bin Laden would get there before Kenyon cause you have to be voted on be your fellow clubs and come on, who would honestly support Kenyon's bid to make the board!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Moroniho is soo far up his own arse. Who does he think he is? He's been here five minutes and he's already telling the FA who they should and should not employ.

Its none of his business!!

The fixtures are worked out by the FA Premier League which is a branch of the FA, not even the same company!! They are worked out by computer. Quite how anyone could think that David Dein has any influence over the fixtures is ridiculous!! Although he does have a degree in Computer Programming!

I think Moroniho is just pissed off because the chavs have been unable to sign anyone of note this summer.

Yup no sence at all especially the extra day rest issue! The CL draw isnt for weeks yet so how would he know who gets a extra day rest!?

Try telling that to Sulph.

Just seen this on the Sky Sports website!!!!

The FA and the Premier League have responded strongly to Jose Mourinho's claims that Arsenal have received favouritism in the scheduling of fixtures, but a closer look at the information further undermines the Chelsea coach's position.

Chelsea's first away trip after Match Day One of the Champions League is across London in Charlton, while the next three post-Champions League fixtures are all played on Sundays giving Mourinho's men an extra day of rest. The fifth fixture is an hour's road journey to the south coast to play Portsmouth.

And while Chelsea have five away fixtures following Champions League nights, of course Arsenal have five road trips scheduled a couple of days before Champions League games.

And interestingly, if all 12 fixtures preceding and following Champions league nights are taken into account, Chelsea have seven home games and five away trips, while Arsenal have just five home matches and seven on the road.

Maybe that jumped up little twat should keep his mouth and tell the voices in his head that "THEY'RE NOT ALL OUT TO GET US"

You just have to deal with Sulph, he's got blue tinted glasses on constantly!

You can see see the what happended the day he decided to support Chelsea. The big 'Chelsea have loads of money do you want to support us' band wagon pulled up outside his house and he jumped on board.

I'm sorry to post 3 in row but i've just checked out the FA's financial statements and you would have thought that DD was the only club representative on the board at the FA.

R Lowe - Southampton
P Gartside - Bolton
D Sheepshanks - Ipswich

Does this mean that all of these should resign in Moroninho's eyes or is it just David Dein. At the end of the day the reason club representatives get on the board is to express the opinions of clubs regarding new regulation not to fiddle things.

Oh come on now Nickybaker there is no need for this. Ive supported Chelsea for over 5 years now. That was uncalled for and unfair. I dislike Arsenal and United too but you don't see me come and rant in there about how many gloryboy's they have.

And Chelsea will do what they said they would do.
Mourinho did say that he will bring in a striker, a midfielder and a defender.

Crespo, Essien*, and Del Horno. We aren't having trouble. Essien will sign for us within the next 2 weeks. Undoubtedly.

And yes I do feel that Mourinho should not speak his mind anymore, for his own sake, even though i find it absurd as everyone should be able to voice their opinions freely.

Also, Mourinho did not comment on the one day later sat/sunday thing, he commented on the home/away thing. Chelsea seem to play away more and Arsenal home, after CL.

Why you so sure Essien is gonna sign?
He looks more likely to stay where he is for atleast another season.

And you're still avoiding my posts like a loser...

Im not avoiding your posts, all I said is that you kept speaking on Essien's behalf, and said things like how he wanted to join United or signed a new contract and wanted to stay. I was just saying that you were wrong, with the article provided.

Lyon hint at Essien's Blues move

The French club have so far resisted Chelsea's attempts to sign the 22-year-old Ghana international.

But Houllier told L'Equipe: "It's not impossible that the transfer of Michael will remain blocked for next year. This is a solution that would suit everyone.

"He is only 22 and can still progress a lot in a club where his managers, coaches and supporters like him a lot."

Essien has decided to go on the club's pre-season trip to South Korea - but is still determined to leave for Chelsea.

He had threatened to opt out of the tour because he wants to leave for Stamford Bridge.

But his agent Fabien Piveteau told BBC Sport: "He is going to Korea. But the player has not changed his mind, he still says he wants to go to Chelsea."

Piveteau confirmed that talks are still going on between the two clubs.

He added: "It's a money matter. But they have to find agreement and a price because the player wants to go."

Essien joined Lyon's squad for the Peace Cup, staged in South Korea from 15-24 July, as the French club held out for the highest possible price.

Their president Jean-Michel Aulas met Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon on Tuesday and remained determined to keep the player.

Aulas said: "Mr Kenyon made the trip to Lyon and I met with him to tell him that our player was not for sale.

"They came back with an extraordinary offer but we are not crazy."

But Piveteau added: "If it was an extraordinary offer I think they would have taken it.

"I think he wants an extraordinary offer, but I don't think he received one."

Lyon are believed to have rejected a £16.75m offer for Essien and Aulas added: "I'd rather be taken for a wise man even if sometimes my head is turning."

Essien expressed his determination to join Chelsea on Tuesday but Aulas is not giving up hope of retaining his star player.

He said: "We are not ready to let Michael go. We cannot keep him against his will but we can convince him to stay at Lyon.

"His team-mates and the supporters want him to stay at OL because if Lyon do not manage to keep their best players no other club will manage to do it either.

"Essien had told me 10 days ago that he was happy at Lyon, but things have changed in his head since.

In my head I am already in Chelsea. I want to go there, otherwise I will regret it all my life
Michael Essien

"We must take all that into account but I remain convinced, like coach Gerard Houllier, that we have far more chances to win the Champions League one day if Essien stays with us next year."

Aulas said he only agreed to meet Kenyon to stop him "chasing Michael".

No Rune, he looks more likely to leave, and your still ranting on like a loser..

Firstly 5 years ago you will still trying to buy everything so don't make out you're hardcore and followed them through the dark early nineties. Secondly as you're not English there really isn't much chance of you playing the family team card, therefore you must be a glory hunter. Therefore you shouldn't be ranting about gloryboys as the phrase, pot kettle and black spring to mind!

Obviously this quote must be wrong as sulph is always right!!! ](*,)

Again take those glasses off mate. You're easily becoming the most hated team in the world and eventually no-one will want to do business with you.
