sad to see a team with history, Vasco da Gama, relegated.
hopefully they'll get right back like Corinthians did.

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

Pure Legend!!! great to see him scoring again....

but is still awfully chubby when he runs and does tricks...hahaha

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

the only one Ronaldo !!
and what a shoot on the crossbar !

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

Lmao, just watched the goal, when he jumps over the advertisement hoardings, it looks like an accordian being pushed in and out cause he's still so large.

Great to see him scoring though.

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

There are some things that injuries can't take away from you...

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

OMFG Simon's penalty. I really hate that referee.

Well done Cruzeiro and Corinthians, they have their respective titles in the pocket. Great to see Ronaldo back in form.

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

That was a penalty. If you see it on TV (better resolution) you can spot the defender's knee touching the foot of Ceará player and causing him to stumble, even if with no intention.

Everybody's making fun of it, but it's obvious: anyone who's running will stumble with the minimum knock at their feet.

Look at 0:24 and 0:32.
YouTube - Carlos Eugênio Simom erra ao marcar pênalti inexistente no duelo entre Ceará e Fortaleza

edit: tbh, the foul was outside the box, so not a penalty.

Wow great to see Ronaldo back scoring the 3rd against Santos was awesome, how many goals has he got this season

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 | Ronaldo Is Back!!!!!

His two goals against Santos were pure class. The first touch for his first and everything about his second, just sublime.

I think it's great that he's back in form and healthy, especially being back in his own country as well. I highly doubt he'd be half as happy, healthy and in form as he is now if he'dve stayed in Italy.

Is he still overweight or is that just massive amounts of muscle?

Might be something for Ronaldinho to look at, to go and rejuvenate himself in his homeland and prove that he still has the quality and hunger that made him the world's best player.

By the way, how does the Brazilian system work. Do you play the national league in winter and then these state championships in the summer months?

It's something like this:

Jan-Apr: State Championships
Jan-Jul: Copa do Brasil
Jan-Jul: Libertadores
May-Dec: Brasileirão Serie A/B/C
Aug-Dec*: Serie D
Aug-Dec*: Sulamericana

*: Not sure

Teams who play Libertadores don't play Copa do Brasil nor Copa Sulamericana.

The main problem with this calendar is when comes July/August and teams lose some of their best players to european teams, in the middle of the competition.

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 Final Standings

State champs are good for local rivalry but that is it.
They are way too long now and small clubs are worst than ever.
I'm glad they are over and the real deal starts next week.

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 Final Standings

Anyone watch the Corinthians celebrations? The captain was literally on fire because of one of the flares!

Re: Brasileirão State Championships 2009 Final Standings

2009 Season is starting again fellas, and with some great games at the 1st round.
What is your predictions?
I could use the same as last season's.
Even thought São Paulo won the last 3 I think is the most balanced league in the world, Bundesliga this season is awesome but...
Brasileirão is a bit underrated by ourselves, lots of great talents, most of them not ready but still a quality league.

Keirrison seems to be the name that goes around in Italy. He seems to be extremely pricey too.

yeh he is a great player...id say the most promissing striker we have here
and yeh he will be very expensive since he is already owned by a group of investors(TRAFFIC)...they bought him from Coritiba soley to make profit.
I hope he can stay healthy otherwise i can see his career going into the same path as Dagoberto, wich imo had a very similar start of career, but stucked becasue of several injuries.
