Battlefield : Bad Company Series

I want brand new maps too!!

White Pass rush is unbalanced, once you get past the Farm it becomes shit, it favours the attackers.

I haven't tried Nelson Bay Conquest yet but that sounds weird.

Well, we've got the Vietnam map pack coming our way but that's not until just before Black Ops comes out. I hope they give us something new before then.

Thanks for the heads up on the new maps.

I can't believe you never play as medic, it's great fun sprinting about reviving people and can be a good way to score a ton of points.

Edit: I was hoping Dice would release some brand new maps rather than the same ones with different modes, but White Pass is one of my favourite maps so Rush mode should be a lot of fun.

Vietnam will be the new map, I seriously doubt they'll release any others before then, sadly. Saying that, the ones on offer give a good mix.

Like I say, I have been the medic during battles, picking up fallen soldiers kits and reviving them. I just haven't chosen them from the off, so have yet to pick up any points in that class. I will get onto them, as I thought the guns were very effective with their rate of fire and decent accuracy bursts.

I've got to Rank 29 without even touching that class yet.

Indeed, being a medic is great for scoring. I also used to be one for the first ~15 hours or so of my multiplayer experience. But: Being revived by one isn't always cool. In fact, it can be utterly asstastic when you're dying on purpose or simply don't want to be revived at all because you're out of ammo or want to change your class because of a tank/helicopter that just showed up. Or because you want to be respawned at your buddys location to help them out. Also, most medics don't care about teamplay, they only care about their own score. They even revive you in the middle of the heat instead of waiting for it to cool down a bit which then usually ends up in you being killed again within two seconds by the same guy who killed you before. I lost count on how many times this annoyed the crap out of me.

Still, it's great to have one in your own squad when you're actually being able to communicate to prevent the issues mentioned above. But being revived out of thin air by somebody else outside my squad usually leads to me being not a happy camper. That's why I quit being a medic myself, there are too many occasions where it's not as helpful as people tend to think.

Damn Scutch, I thought I was the only one that didn't touch that class yet (I'm @ level 33 at the moment)...I think I have about 8 revives form picking up the kit during battle .

I really enjoy playing medic, not so much for the points (and you can get a lot of points reviving people and dropping medi-packs), but because a couple of good medics on a team can be pivotal when playing modes like rush. I love helping to keep the attacking momentum going or keeping people alive to help defend.

I've never played this. I'm assuming it's that good from all your positive posts. Is the single player any good, or even long enough?

About eight hours or so, you could finish it in two/three sittings.

Hmph... I like games with a long SP story, and a good one. 8 hours is too short imo. Thanks Tobi and Bobbybox.

I just don't know why they don't make full use of the 50gb in the blu-ray disc.

The single player story, although short, is very good. Definitely worth a play-through.

We'll not get a lengthy single player fps any time soon simply because many people skip it completely and only play online. It would be a waste of time and money.

It's basically a training mode to get you used to the game :))

The storyline is pretty bullshit, it would barley make it as a straight to dvd movie even :TTTH: Even as a comedy.

Gameplay is brilliant though, really enjoyable and isn't frustrating like other games.

Thanks. Comparing this game's SP with Operation Flashpoint's, which is better?

I've fallen in love with the shotguns + C4 of late. I killed two guys with one shot and they both fell on their right side, it was like a mini domino effect.

It's a great feeling when you see the defenders (even better when their camping snipers) take residence in a building, place C4 on all four of the outside walls, find a spot and then laugh to yourself as the building collapses in a heap.

Not played Operation Flashpoint, which from what I've heard is much more of a serious, hardcore experience. BF:BC2's single player is completely the opposite, very much like an over-the-top action movie, but it's good fun. I wouldn't buy Battlefield solely for the single player though. The magic is the online mode.

Loading up a quad bike with C4 and driving towards a group of enemies is good fun. As is teaming up with someone and creating a flying bomb with the UAV. Fly into a building and detonate it. Great fun.

I'm on well over 170 hours online now.

I'm at about 78 hours.

The first details on Battlefield 3, the third "proper" instalment in EA's multiplayer big battle series, seem to have leaked onto the net via a fan site.

The details are based around a "leaked" PDF file supposedly intended for EA investors, which indicates that the next game will be officially announced in January 2008 for a release later that year.

According to the document, the third game returns to the near-future setting of Battlefield 2 and runs on a modified Bad Company engine, called Frostbite DX - the 'DX' supposedly referring to DirectX 10.

Eight maps and support for up to 40-players per team (40v40!) is touted, along with five familiar classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support. There's even talk of an MMO-style "soldier" system which lets you create and customise your own avatar.

A beta test is listed for next Summer, though EA's still sitting firmly on the "no comment" bandwagon. We'll keep you posted on any more evidence that might crop up.

Then again, you could always use a grenade launcher. This is what makes this game brilliant, it's so balanced, there isn't anything perceived as too effective or cheap! If a sniper is bugging you just blow up his vantage point :WORSHIP: There so much to do, so many different ways to play! Endless fun :))

It's just a shame that there will be no new maps until the Vietnam pack in November. I love this game but it would be nice to have some fresh battlegrounds, not just new modes on the existing ones.

An Ultimate Edition of shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be released in the UK on 3rd September, according to online retailers.

It includes brilliant downloadable game Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2's Onslaught mode, and limited edition unlocks and VIP downloads.

The US version of the Ultimate Edition was spotted by eagle-eyed posters on forum Neogaf.

It's since popped up on UK retailers, including ShopTo.net.

Bad Company 2, created by DICE, was released earlier this year and Eurogamer liked it very much.

We liked Onslaught mode very much, too.
