I suppose unchecking punkbuster in the filters will simply just add all those without it into the mix with those that do run it. Maybe see if some servers have 'no pb' in their name.

And yeah it's scary shit when your pc doesn't boot. Had that happen to me a few times before, panic stations!

I could maybe start a local server later and let you join it, see if you get any joy. I'll try starting it without pb if I can. Yeah?

Been playing 10 minutes, crashed to the desktop twice already, demo didn't do this once. :roll:

Did it when I brought up the in-game menu using 'Q', then highlighting 'Spotted'. When I then try to click right-mouse at same time to specify which enemy I've spotted it chucks it :(.

I had CTD the first time I played the full version which I didn't get in the demo at all. Turned EAX and hardware sound off and it works perfectly, no performance degredation either.

I tried that updating my nforce4 drivers last night
and this morning my pc wouldnt boot! I had to do a system restore.
F*cking shat meself
Just got the reply from EA support.. complete waste of time
they spent 3/4 of the email telling me how packets work across the internet ffs!

Hey peat, that guy from OcUK that had a similar problem managed to get his sorted by er, installing those the 6.53 nf4 drivers, after a fresh install of windows!! I take it those are the ones you installed which fooked your comp?

fraid so BoADC.
I did another reinstall today (on my lunchbreak) and ran it in a window at the complete crappest setting. It ran for like the 5 minutes I had. So im off to go and test it some more.
I am hoping with it in a window if it does hard crash I might be able to use windows to close it down rather than needing a reboot everytime.

It managed 5 minutes and hard crashed (even in a f*cking window!)
Ive ran out of ideas now.

Mine works fine, never crash to desktop, but when i click REFRESH to get the list of servers, it lags like hell and it is difficult to find a server to play beacuse of it.

Yeah the in-game browser is shocking. Can't wait till they give support for ASE.

Mine works like a charm 2. Magnificant game isn't it... We're lucky this wasn't planned for release when WE8LE came out. My option file would have taken a lot longer to make... :p

Well I finally figured out which icon ment punkbuster server
so I found a non punkbuster server and went on.
the game worked perfectly. Thinking I might have changed some vid or sound setting
I went back and turned everything to max. including eax etc etc
went back in and ive just been playing for 1 hour!!
Its f*cking punkbuster!!!
Time to email stupid EA see what their stock answer to this will be.

Wahey, Ive just been on a punkbuster enabled server for 1 hour! yippeeee

I seen on the punkbuster website it mentioned forwarding UDP port 16567 (outgoing)if you are on a router. The other day I only tried forwarding the ports in the manual that it says for the client. It says in the manual 16567 is for the server. (thinking about this I wonder if that means open it for outgoing rather than on a server. hmm)

anyways. I went onto a normal server with max settings and huray... ive been on for an hour an no problems... fingers crossed its finally sorted.
Now i just have to find a ranked server that isnt full! :)


Edit : Bollocks. Tried a different server and back to the crashes again.
Ah well at least I know its definately punkbuster now.

Ah nice one mate. Glad you've found out what the problem is, just gotta find a fix now! Did you just join the totalhost server? I'm sure I just saw your name come up when you disconnected :)

The ranked servers are shit. Most of them are full ALL the time, and most of them are AMERICAN ONES --> LAG! . They have terrible ping.

6 hours solid I have been playing for, what a game this is.

btw the dam level sure looks impressive but in terms of gameplay it's one of the poorer maps. The small, tight 'dusty' map with only 1 MEC flag point to start is my favourite (has no air vehicles).

yeah boadc that was the server I hung on straight away.
The server im going to live on now is gamecommunity.co.uk
no punkbuster on it and it runs fine, has a few lag spikes but no constant lag like.
Ive emailed punkbuster support now, since I definately now its there sh1t program.


We aint had a screen in a while and I thought I would post one while I have the f*cking stupid game running.
This was that dam map and some bloke flying the plane side on through the gap.

THe best map is strike on Shakaar or something like that. Where thers 1 US base and the city is all MEC. In a 64 man server, its really like a war.

Well I've only played this game for an hour in total, but I shall be on tonight. I'll try turning EAX off and stuff and see if that helps the game running like crap!

Well I seem to have sorted it. It had something to do with me thinking the textures could run on High :roll: Apparently my PC can't handle that, even if settings are on medium and the textures are on High!

So I just set the game to High, and didn't change anything (textures are on Low by default) and played for about 15 minutes and it was running fine. Will give it a good workout tonight, I get home from work about 10:45 if anyone fancies a game?
