Arsenal Thread

We'll probably find out that the interview actually went:

Media piece of sh*t/Journalist: So Darren do you feel that Arsene Wengers comments may have led to harsher treatment this year?
Fletcher: 'I don't know, maybe, I just want to get on and get back to winning'

Headline: FLETCHER BLAMES WENGER FOR BIASED REFEREEING, Darren Fletcher has launched a SCATHING ATTACK on Arsene Wenger, accusing him of INFLUENCING OFFICIALS

I wouldn't read much into it.

Thats what I thought, It seems too much of an idiotic thing to say otherwise.

no mate read the blooming link. Its not confirmd yet and is very likely his seasons finished. 2months? i fucking wish

If Arsenal suffer due to injuries and a lack of first team squad depth again it is not going to look well against Wenger, they know they have injury prone players he should have a bigger squad to cover that...

It doesnt help when players take us out though? van perise got tackled badly. walcott got tackled badly, nasri by diaby (lol), eduardo, fabregas etc etc.

while it appears that our players are injury prone. half of our injuries are down to others mate.

i read on sky sports how our team gets goals from all over the park. an average of 30% of goals scored by liverpool, chelsea and manu are done by their leading striker ie torres, drogba and rooney while van persie only chips in less than 19% of our goals by him.

he will be missed no doubt but not as bad as any of the other top teams if they had their striker out from injury.

its such a shame rvp is injured on a fucking FRIENDLY. disgrace. its as if it was done on purpose lol! not seen the title but whos to say certain players wont try and take out others due to the world cup coming up. im sure for instance that torres wil be a marked man for sure.

It was a clean tackle.

The reason van Persie injured himself was that he kicked Chiellini.

I think the point is... his injury came from a tackle not a jog around the pitch.Persie been known to miss kick and planting of the foot more than once.In this case chiellini kicked his planting foot on the right side. While Persie`s left foot kicked chiellini there now you sound reasonable

RVP said:
“The prognosis is that I will be out for four to six weeks,” van Persie told the Dutch television station NOS.

I hope so....

Hmm really don't know how long he will be out. Some German news say
6 weeks, some say 2 months and transfermarkt.de says 3 months.
We'll have a big problem if Eduardo will be injured again because Bendtner
and Walcott are out, too.

Vermaelen for central forward !!! :D

yea that was my point. people say our players are injury prone but to be honest half our injuries are down to actual tackles

Sucks bout Van Persie. Really looked like he was finally going to manage a full season too...

If he's back in 6 weeks I'll be incredibly impressed. I tore my ankle ligaments, and fair enough I'm not an athelete with world class medicine but I couldn't even walk for about a month, and no sports for about 4. Even then football was off limits for longer... :(

In the past Arshavin played upfront w/ Bendtner so I`m sure Ed and him can link up.
Me personally w`d put

Arshh(LW....)Ed(ST)....Rosicky/Nasri(RW)

I think Eduardo is our only fit striker now. I think Vela is injured aswell.

If Eduardo can stay fit I have every confidence we can carry on our form.

But losing Van Persie is a major blow, hopefully Eduardo has got his scoring boots on for the next couple of months.

Hope this doesn't derail your season, Hoping you guys stay in touching distance of Chelsea to keep the pressure on while we pip you both to finish line :DD

Just heard Diaby is injured, too :CONFUSE:
Any details about that?

Here we go again

Half our team will be out before long and we will slip down the league.

Really hope we start getting some other players back, this period and over xmas are really busy and extremely important.

Lot of pressure on Eduardo and probably, players like Ramsey in the coming weeks (If the diaby injury is true?).

I think we can do it, but if we get anymore injuries it is going to be really tough.

In German news they say he is out for Ireland 2nd leg because
of an injury but no further information.

We're crowded in central midfield anyway. Ramsey deserves his chance in the side, Nasri needs games and both Denilson and Rosicky are back soon, so I'm not crying my eyes out over Diaby if that's true.

A lot rests on Eduardo in the short term but I have faith. He's got the quality so maybe this is the run in the side he needs to make his mark this season.

What I love about Persie is his assist rate , most strikers feel they`re the only better option to score.

I think the fact that you have so many skillful and lightweight players, most teams approach the game with the same old "Arsenal can be outmuscled" mentality.
Whether or not its true is probably a matter of opinion and would be a discussion for another day but the problem here is that because of this assumption, teams are probably going in a lot harder on the tackles against you lot, which results in more injuries. Its a bit of a shame really.

It doesn't help that the Arsenal medical team are butchers. 4-6weeks will likely be 8-12. On 365 they always highlight how poor the injury predictions are, and how often the player gets re-injured.

Oh and my apologies; I predicted last week or the week before that V Persie will barely be able to make half a season.

are you usually right on your predictions? :)) our medical staff are a bit suspect, funny how capello took our top physio and he`s still working for the Arsenal  Lamp,Terry innit.

As I said before you have a side prone to injury yet you lack the depth to cover this, this is a season on season issue that Wenger should have addressed no?

Not a dig at Wenger as such but it is a little short sighted...

In most areas though we are pretty covered. Having Bendtner, Van persie, Vela and walcott all out of the team is something you can't compensate for. Otherwise he would have to buy 12 more attacking players.

Midfield we have an abundance in centre midfield. I actually agree with him not buying more there as we have Ramsey/Merida and Wilshere who need the experience there.

Only spot we need is that defensive mid spot where Song is doing really well. When he goes to African nations, we are a bit fooked!

I would also say we need another quality defender, but I think Senderos would step up fine.

So all in all, I think our squad is quite strong now and can cope with most things. just that having 4 attackers out at the same time we might not be able to cope with....but we still have super Eduardo!!

But I do think the doctors/physios at Arsenal need to be looked at. But I am sure if there really any troubles there then Arsene would have taken the necessary measures to get new people in?
