Arsenal Thread

Great run and pass by Lukaku, but it was a foul as I said.

Wilshere is more like a deep lying midfielder and does some bits of dirty work that Cazorla won't. That's why Cazorla is being used more on the flanks and he's more in contention with Özil than Wilshere.

Lots of chatter going on about Podi heading to Juve on loan w/ opt to buy. We need a Vermaelen replacement n a proper DM. I'm clueless to what will happen next week. I'm sure everything hangs on CL on Wednesday .

Me, Mertesacker, Wenger and apparently Sky Sports would claim a foul there too:

Instead, the same Arsenal flaws were revealed, with Mesut Ozil switching off in the 19th minute to allow Seamus Coleman to sneak in and open the scoring. The second goal was unfortunate - Romelu Lukaku appearing to foul Per Mertesacker in the build-up and Steven Naismith benefiting from a close off-side call - but Wenger will be more worried about his team's weary start in one of the toughest away trips of the season.

As for Podolski, I think he wants more playing time obviously and the arrival of Alexis clearly gets in the way of that.

I'd like him to stay too, because he's a seasoned player, a finished product really. He can contribute really well in away games like last season.

But if he isn't staying, a loan move would make no sense. Why loan a player who's world class and ready to contribute coming from the bench? He gives us so much depth in the attack, that it's better to stick it out with him (and his high wages) for now.

It should be a full transfer or no transfer at all IMO.

Not so sure about that and certainly not in a physicality league like the EPL, but it doesn't matter anymore. In fact, i think this is good point for Arseanl, cnot many teams will get a point at Goodison Park this season. Everton looked very strong for 60 minutes.

No gerd they looked good for 80 min. They played like we were the small club.

Off topic : is it wrong to enjoy ManCity ? They look so proper in their movement . It's like being flashed perfect 10 hand bags and she want me to touch them. My mate here is like why you grinning for? :COAT:

I will miss the Pod if he goes, I think he is good for the squad also.

I always get that feeling with him though that he can do so much more, it is frustrating.

But his actual recent goals to games ratio is great, I don't see the reason to let him go, if we want to fight on all fronts, he will get quite a few games and we will be stronger with him in the squad imo.

Fuckity fuck! I heard that too. Some say Giroud might have broken his foot :(

It's time to get moving, Arsene! We've got 6 days and you can add a centre forward to your shopping list now. Cavani, please. No Cavani? Remy. No Remy? Improvise!

It wouldn't bode well for our title hopes if we have to deploy Sanogo in the middle til December. Or play the false 9 thing with either Alexis, Campbell or even Walcott. It didn't quite come off against Everton.

Giroud's injury might also prevent Podolski from going anywhere now.

Podi post a pic w/ Sanchez in training *rumours on him leaving, he`s staying.
Im waiting for confirmation on Giroud from Wenger.

Giroud is injured and we know only have Sanogo, who doesn't have any PL experience, as a true striker.

Time to spend money to get a proper striker like Jackson Martinez. And a midfield enforcer like Khedira or William.

Playing without a muscle striker could be healthy for Arsenal though. Just because it didn't work out against Everton doesn't mean it's impossible. And from a different point of view, just because it didn't go well against Everton it's important that you make it work better. Mastering both big tall and small quick striker styles makes the team unpredictable and more difficult to play against, which can be particularly rewarding in CL.

Splashing out to get a new top striker now for four months would only create a future problem when Giroud is back. Campbell is also an alternative lone striker by the way, so it's not like there's nobody but Sanogo.

Isn't that French guy DM enough for you? He's obviously mental, but it's what you're looking for in a DM, isn't it?

EDIT: I just realized that "that Fench guy" could more or less mean half the squad... I was thinking of Flamini, of course.

Zigic ?

That is a poor men's Bendtner...surely this can't be true ?

In Belgium there is a striker who desperately wants to leave for a foreign team, Jelle Vossen until now had contacts with Boro...i'm not saying that he would be the ideal striker for Arsenal, but i can assure you all that he is miuch better than Zigic, and there must be dozens like that out there...

Sky Sports:
Zigic’s representative Milan Calasan told SPORT: “It is true. Wenger called me on Tuesday afternoon and told me that he wants to bring Zigic to Arsenal.

“It is clear that you cannot reject an offer like that. But Zigic is the one who must decide. He must say what he wants.

“But Wenger was clear, he is offering a contract until the end of the season with the option for another 12 months.

“I know that Arsenal are in a hurry, but Nikola also has offers from Turkey and Switzerland.”

lol You should grab Remy. 8m, can't argue with that even if he get's an injury now and then

Surprised you haven't tbh, he's French

Kind of agree with this. Clearly available, cheap and rather good when fit. Plus with Arsenal's incredible medical staff he'll...

Seriously though, surely you need another striker? The 'false 9' thing was horrible against Everton, made Arsenal even more Arsenal than normal.

Go on, buy Cavani. You know it makes sense. The big beautiful man.

We made it through to the CL, just about.

UEFA refs, oh boy don't they just LOVE Arsenal? That was just a reminder, in case we had forgotten.
