ta`hats what Im talking about! £10m upfront £6m later...?

English players are so expensive. Soton have received nearly 50m for 2 19 year olds after like 1 season

Chambers has only played 17 games in his career. Jeeez

Yeah its crazy, I hope it doesn't mean Jenkinson leaving for good, I really like him and think he could be good for us in the future.

Jenkinson is joining West Ham on loan. I hope he gets plenty of 1st team football and does really well for them, so he could come back to Arsenal. He's a real gunner you know, and he means business. Always liked his attitude.

I don't mean to criticise a signing (we love signings) but I just didn't get why Wenger spent 11-16m pounds on a youngster who will provide cover for Debuchy when we had Jenkinson, who's shaping up to be a very good RB and wasn't fussed about sitting on the bench. All this when we could have used the money to get a class DMF - if not Khedira, someone like Gundogan.

These are the impressions we get, with the little info we got. But hopefuly Wenger knows exactly what he's doing and the whole jigsaw falls into place: we get our DMF man and Calum Chambers is a beast of a defender in the making, in a way he can be groomed to become a CB even, freeing up space for a Jenkinson return.

That would be a perfect chain of events :D

He's been linked with United forever. Moyes apparently sent scouts to more than 20 of his matches last year.

I think he looks great and will be really annoyed if you get him :)

I read MUTd agreed fee for Vidal. Don`t be too annoyed :P I never heard of him. I wish transfer-rumours were a criminal offense :SMUG:

Wenger just said in the pre-match conference he isn't done with transfers :BOP:

"That's right, come to papa"

Well if he does go, we better sign a CB ASAP.

And we'll need to assign captaincy to someone else. Arteta exerts some leadership but I'm not sure.

It's either Arteta or Mertesacker I think.

 It wasn't a way to brag, you can keep him! Just an observation of Wenger's comments.

think its a formality, we need numbers I guess but whats the point when he's made of paper.

Well Vermaelen just needs a sequence of games and a large injury-free period to get his confidence back. With that, he could be a beast of a defender. I still remember his first season in 2009-10, he was incredible.

His main problem is that he's a slow learner when it comes to positioning at defence - much like Koscielny, he's an aggressive defender who tries to anticipate many passes, but unlike Kos, he didn't learn when to do it.

One would hope he would have improved in this area after playing 3 seasons with Per BFG Mertesacker, a guy whose intelligence and sense of positioning totally make up for his lack of pace.

more out of frustration for him...we get these players that are plagued for a few season Rosicky-Diaby-Vermaelen-Jack-*Theo

I just dont care much for players that are fit 1/4 of their contract. I like Vermaelen ,but his injuries are due to training ,not even playing in matches.

Campbell woooow! Bellerin :CONFUSE::WORSHIP: he either needs to be loan out of given him a chance!

I was just saying Sanogo is not made to score gols. Then , he did the celebration dance Eboue-esque ...we wanted more and got to see it 2x times :BOP:

Sanogo has massive potential for becoming a cult hero, what a piece of work this lad is!
Had never scored before, now he bags 4 goals like that. In his last celebration he fell down, he had me LOLing.

Loved to see Joel Campbell too. I think we're getting there, the right mix of youth (Ox, Sanogo, Campbell, Ramsey, Chambers) and experience (Rosicky, Arteta, Cazorla, Mert) with some superstar names to boot (ÖZil, Sanchez).

The boy Calum Chambers looked as if he was a seasoned CB! I know it's only pre-season, early days and all, but he looked seriously good.

I'm beginning to think he will play more CB matches as requested, and Bellerin can make some cameos throughout the season replacing Debuchy when needed.

It's a good start anyway. Hope tomorrow we can see some more good stuff and get prepared for the Community Shield - winning that would give us total confidence for the CL playoff and the start to the PL season.
