Arsenal Thread

Huge season for Wilshere imo. Still young, and 2 years ago looked to be literally one of the best in the world at his position (in the 10 matches he manages to play each year). This season he was terrible, looked like he just wanted a foul everytime he had the ball rather than to do something with it.

Wenger needs to give him the opportunity to prove himself, or he should leave.

He has been plagued by injuries, last season he played a good chunk of games and I fully expect him to do well this season.

Most young players are erratic in the start of their careers.

But I agree if this season he stays fit and doesnt move forward then questions marks will be raised for me.

I'm not against drinking alcohol , more for smoking. He`s always injured amd Im sure smoking may not contribute to his injuries ,but who in the hamsandwich could afford to take that risk. Wenger doesn`t let players even eat sweets and he seems to always get caught w/ those cowboys .

The battle between him and Ramsey is fascinating, Wilshere was the better player if you asked me 18 months ago, since Ramsey's left him in the dust.

IMO Wilshere has serious attitude problems on and off the field. He will never fullfill his potential.

Arsenal fans, rejoice ! Now that i've written this, we all know Wilshere will be terrific in the coming season.

No, I agree with you gerd 100%! that`s my reason of posting this. I did the same at another site and was banned for inciting!I don`t like gooner blogs too deluded to engage conversation.

Wenger on Ramsey during his bad form...

Arsene Wenger said:
"I sat down with Aaron and I told him, 'I don't think people don't like you, but they don't like your game at the moment'. It was in his hands to change that..... You have to do basics, basics, basics, and then slowly you get into the zone where it becomes easier.... You have to get back to basics to gain confidence.

that`s it folks... can he talk to Sanogo , Jack ,Gibbs , Theo , AlexOx , Giroud , Diaby , and Arteta ! The talk of basic, basic ,basic n more basic....

Wilshere has got really good technique, but he needs to grow a pair quite frankly. He needs to sort his attitude, basically complete the transition from boy to man. He looks too immature at times. He also needs to use his head - hope he will eventually learn as he matures. He's still very young. But he must be aware he's behind in the pecking order with the likes of Ramsey, Özil and Cazorla (and there's still Rosicky in great shape).

Ospina seems done, because Wenger let it slip on an interview :D
I'm still skeptical about Ospina to be honest. I'm not overly impressed by him at the World Cup, plus he will have to adapt to a new country, language and league. I hope everything goes smooth for him, but I think we gotta be patient and not expect a world beater. He doesn't seem as good as Navas or Ochoa, but I think he's really good business at 4m euros.
We got our keeper, can't complain.

I feel very weird, I don't know about you guys. August is coming and I'm not that worried. This is something so new.
Wenger crossed most things off his 'to do list': star striker, 1st team right back, and a new keeper.

August will come and go and we won't be grinding our teeth and biting fingernails at transfer deadline day.
This time Wenger will have all signings ready and training with the others before the season starts, while he can surprise us with a DMF and a young centre back on the last day ;)

Hate to see the Saints get dismantled, but if he leaves to join Arsenal, fine by me. We will probably need the extra CB. And on the DMF front theres interest in Schneiderlin too, since the deal for Khedira looks unlikely at the moment.

Great to see AW not messing about.

Vermaelen going to Barça it may seem  .. Khedira's ppl are saying they're dropping wage demands, he wants to join The Arsenal. Falcao is willing to drop his wages by 50% to join RM. Di Maria is torn btw Mutd n PSG...Mutd would be the easy decision (bat an eye).

In the German media Khedira to us is totally off, it's been said he won't join us for sure.

It's so weird with the media today, you can't trust anything.

For example, yesterday the two big spanish newspapers Marca and Sport published an article at almost the same time. Marca reported that Casillas will definitly stay at Real and Sport reported the move to Arsenal is almost done.

I don't see why we would need Casillas now. He would cost a fortune and his recent displays prove he's way past his best.

Khedira was reported to demand 200k a week (taxes included), which is impossible to get at Arsenal.
This is always a problem, even Arshavin had to accept a pay cut way back in 2009 when he joined. The taxes in the UK and the Arsenal way of not going crazy on players salaries.
And that's fine by me. Arsenal is a financially healthy club and they can afford a salary like that, but only for outstanding talent, I'm talking guys like Ibra, not exactly Khedira.

I think it's indecent what teams like Real Madrid do, spending those kinds of figures on fees and wages. That Florentino prick inflated the market almost as much as the sugar daddies at Chelsea, City and PSG.

BTW, I don't know what the hell Real think they're doing if they sell Di Maria? Probably their best player last season, outstanding work rate. Their loss anyway!

RM dont care for work rate anymore...not a coach decision, Rodriguez is selling shirts by the second 350k and 700k is the wishing mark before the Aug. window closes.

Khedira story is baffling...on-off-on-off! Anything can happen atm. Arsene is more busier(transfer market) then ever in getting the right players to win trophies. I saw AC Milan president say Mario 99.9% is staying, then the next few hours. You see Mario+£7m for Campell :)) I wouldn`t want Mario even if they paid us .

I say let's give the lad (Campbell) a real go. Come on, how can you let someone of that quality go without giving him a season, especially after the great World Cup he had.

If Wenger had to use even Sanogo last season, then there must be space for Campbell.

yeh i'd really like to see j. campbell make an impact this season. he 22 now, it's time.

Campbell will be perfect for us . Im just happy they would try to offer a trade + cash. (Rumoured) They know he has a future!

Crazy amount of options for the 3 behind the striker:

Cazorla
Podolski
Ozil
Ox
Ramsay
Sanchez
Walcott
Rosicky
Campbell

Interesting friendly ... 4-6-0 not happening! Neither side excel, lucky gol and they made if count. Diaby n Jack look pretty prettay good.

And Diaby!

---------------Chesney---------------
--Ramsey--Diaby----Podolski--Rosicky-
---------Wilshere---Carzola----------
--Ox------------Ozil-------Sanchez---
--------------Walcott----------------

Nailed it.

Calum Chambers too! Just wow. Best transfer window in years!

Is Chambers more like a right back rather than a centre half? I thought he was a CB, but I heard he will provide competition for Debuchy or be used as a midfielder.
