Arsenal Thread

I'm not too worried about Giroud not being a prolific goal scorer as he brings so much to our overall game up front. He makes the other players around him play better, I would much rather spread the goals around the team than be reliant on one goal scorer.

It would be nice to score more, but I think most people realize the value he brings to the team.

This month we are getting the results, which is exactly the results we need, but early Feb is going to be tough with Man United and Liverpool and then March is crazy! I was hoping to go into Feb a few points ahead.

Man City are just ridiculous at the moment, it is going to be touh to stay top with them and CHelsea behind us, that is for sure.

That is the thing I could easily see Man City win every game upto the end of the season, or at least not lose. But us, although we are winning we still don't look very convincing sometimes and we will always drop points in the bigger games.

March is especially tough, it would take a miracle to get out of that month with the majority of points.

I still think Arsenal can win the title Bobby.
I saw the match against Cardiff.
Despite the end score, it was not an easy win for City (and imo they were clearly advantaged by the ref a couple of times, for example IMO the first goal was an unintentional hands by David Silva).Cardiff are relegation battlers, yet it wasn't a walkover for City...
City still has to go to Chelsea, this match may be huge for Arsenal. I don't know wich team Arsenal play that weekend, but they should win that match.

I also think City might loose points against teams like Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and of course Arsenal themselves. If i'm not mistaken, they still have to play all these teams away.

To be honest, i even think that Chelsea might turn out to be the biggest danger for Arsenal (currently they are playing Man Utd, but i will watch that game later, so i have no idea what is happening at Stamford Bridge, United might be winning 0-3 at the moment...i wouldn't know).

I have nothing against either City or Chelsea (in fact i like both of them), but i would love to see Arsenal win the league this year...

We'll lose a few. We hardly ever have a good time at Everton and Hull away is an upset waiting to happen.

Not sure it's right to say we got advantaged yesterday considering we should have had a pen (and possibly a red for the Cardiff player) after 30 secs.

No gerd! Chelsea goes to City :CONFUSE: . City lost at the bridge.

You're right, and that is a big difference...well, i guess we will see an ultra defensive Chelsea in Manchester then.
As a neutral i want City to score early on and may the best team win then...

No way. The fee is too outrageous. Plus, right now we cannot afford to ship out another striker (even if with fitness problems) and bring yet another kid who probably won't be able to hit the ground running, as is the need for now.

Giroud is struggling a bit with small injuries at the moment; Bendtner had been written off before being seriously considered a backup for CF and he's returning from injury himself; Podolski also is struggling and isn't match fit either; Walcott is out for 6 months and Ox is just returning too.
I mean, if Wenger doesn't fancy the risk of having to field Sanogo or Akpom or even Park Chu Young, Arsenal better make additions to this squad. Even if a loan deal in the mould of that one for Julio Baptista some 5 years ago.

Before i write this post: out of the 3 teams that are likely to be EPL contenders, i want Arsenal to win.

But now i'm pretty sure they will not win.

Why ?

Because of Wenger's reaction to Mata's transfer from Chelsea to Man Utd.

In the past every single time a manager of a club in the frame to win the EPL did something similar, they did loose: Keegan and Benitez are two examples that come to my mind (and i have a vague recollectio that Arsène himself has done something similar in the past and that he payed that cash, but i might be wrong).

Wenger is sending the wrong message to his squad: we are not strong enough, i have my doubts because i'm obsessed by what my opponents are doing.

What a stupid thing to do...and he even did it without being provoked...Mourinho is having a field day.

But wenger is right though. Someone in the United thread here said the exact same thing a few days ago and I agree.

It's dirty tactics from morinho doing everything he can to win the title over city and arsenal.

So, its ok for Mourinho to have a go at every other manager and players at other clubs? You sometime are so bias its uninviting . Wenger also, said they have every right to do what they did. He hopes its FFP playing its part and selling and getting younger players in. Its in no way a rant, doesn`t matter what we think who will win. I doubt you want Arsenal to win. You just like the under dog and that changes lots. I think Arsenal players are in belief for what they done atm most clean sheets and fighting tooth n nail to stay at the top. Most Arsenal fans are happy just to be part of the fight.

What a stupid post bebo.
Does it even matter that you doubt i want Arsenal to win ? What am i supposed to answer ? Me assuring that i want Arsenal to win the EPL and you repeating that you doubt it...fantastic conversation. I thought you were more intelligent than that. Anyway, no hard feelings but don't think i will enter such a useless discussion with you...i really don't care what you think about my sympathies...if you choose to believe that i don't want Arsenal to win...good for you then.

And for the record, it could well be that Wenger is right about Chelsea and Mourinho (cfr. also Mourinho's answer to a question about Lukaku, where he more or less said something similar, that Lukaku was scoring goals fro Chelsea).
What i was trying to say is that from a point of view of man management Wenger made a serious mistake. Never concentrate on your opponents, certainly if you sent the message that you don't believe in the chances of your own team. And in recent past it seemed to me that Arsenal showed lots of mental frailty...

Mourinho talks about opponents, but never in a way that undermines his own team.

If Arsenal do win the EPL you can haunt me with this post, i don't mind at all...

Think you need a nap gerd seriously. I don't have to be intelligent to offer my opinion. Pellegrini agreed with Wenger too! Your post had no quotes and led to believe it was sound bites.
The media likes Jose , they fall bits to what he does. Arsene sells his best player it's a crisis , they'll struggle to get into Europe . Mourinho sells one of his best player. It's a brilliant move... Instrumental in winning the title.

very different situations bebo. mata has been an unnecessary, fringe player under jose's system. the players wenger sold were key players for arsenal then.

I never said you were not intellgent by the way. I think you are very intelligent.

I also never said it was a briljant move by Mourinho, i just said Arsène made a man management mistake imo...time will tell i guess.

I don't think it was a master plan by Mourinho. He had a player he don't likes and that wanted away. He had a potential buyer, accidentially Chelsea just had to play Man Utd. So i guess he stalled the negotiations a litle bit...but next season he will have one very motivated adversary...so in the end it will only work for this season... But like i said, maybe it was a master plan like Wenger said...if it was, i have to say there are better master plans in the long term.

Anyway, as a neutral: good to see Mata play once again, fantastic player.

Well , we sold in the summer , not mid season. Every situation is different , wages, a chance of wining a cup/title,or just wanting to play .

@ gerd. Me personally I think Wenger is bitter for not getting Ba after we somewhat agreed. Pellegrini doesn't like Mou and he'll find any excuse .

:CONFUSE:

Liverpool vs Arsenal (Sat 8th Feb 12.45)
Arsenal vs MUTD (Wed 12th Feb 19.45)
Arsenal vs Liverpool (FA Cup 15/16th) all faCup matches at home atm :BOP:

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich (CL-Wed 19th Feb 19.45)

Draxler any good? £30m is steep...Arsenal had more German(5) players on the pitch, then French or English during the FaCup match vs Coventry.

Draxler is in an incredible form at Schalke, he's only 20 and it is said that Wenger might mentor him as a striker rather than an AMF. The press have labeled him the "new RVP". The fact that he's German means understanding with Merts, Gnabry, Poldi and even Özil, whom he coincided with at Schalke. For me, it's an excellent choice.
