Arsenal Thread

You can`t play 4-4-2(2-DM) vs Arsenal ...We didn`t have a ST on the pitch. I bet no one heard of Gnarby until tonight  the kid was everywhere . He is build like Alex-Ox and their speed was ridiculous. I don`t think i ever saw the quickness of Arsenal all season. The Spurs were known to be a super fast team until tonight.

Ok ! Im talking about in today`s formation system. 4-5-1,4-3-3,4-2-3-1 ,4-1-2-1-2 and even a 3-5-2.

Spurs were played off the park tonight.
Walker+Lennon were nullified by Cazorla/Monreal :CONFUSE:

Ericksen+Rose road blocked by Sagna.

Bentaleb+Dembele vs Rosicky/Jack /Arteta/Gnarby :SMUG:

Theo gave Dawson+Chiriches a target to follow but the threat gave from the over flowing middle.

Ade+Soldado never were comfortable thanks to the backline.

Tim Sherwood on Arsenal: 'We showed that we belong on the same pitch as probably the best team in the league at the moment.'

Lol

Congratulations for a well deserved win. Arteta was immense today.
IMHO Dembele also played a great match.
Despite all the money spend, Arsenal still have greater squad depth than Spurs.
Arsenal were great, but two defensive errors (Walker and Rose) resulted in two goals.

Enjoyed Walcott winding up the Spurs fans.

Think gerd overrates Dembele. Bentaleb look decent despite being surrounded by mediocrity.

Theo Walcott out 4 six month :( . He just return from injury- gutted. Cazorla to the right n Pod to the left. Looks like Rosicky was doing a good job on the wing during Theo's absence.

It's not certain that he misses the WC. But I couldn't care less TBH. As far as Arsenal is concerned, his season is over :(

Such a shame, cause he was grabbing good goals and playing really well.

With him, Giroud and Bendtner injured at the moment, would be a massive gamble by Wenger not to shop for strikers now.

BTW, real classy by Sp*rs fans to celebrate Theo's injury on twitter. After the AVB insults and threats (which targeted even a woman with the same initials on Twitter), now they're trying to take their cuntishness to a new level.
At the Emirates they felt they were entitled to hurl abuse at Theo and throw stuff at him, and when they get the 2-0 sign in response suddenly they're victims of 'winding up'? Give us a break!

Amazingly the FA even considered to punish Theo for that but instead sent a 'letter' to reprimand his reaction - a simple smile and a reminder of the score line. Something that Bale did last year, by the way (but nothing happened).
Now what about the mindless thuggery displayed by those disgusting mugs? Will they work to identify the cunts who threw coins and other shit and banish them from football grounds?

Certain fans are getting too easily offended IMO, and that may be a sign of the world going too soft. Well, if you're going to an away match and want to behave like a savage, yet get easily offended like those Sp*rs fans did, then don't go to the stadium. It's a ridiculous situation really, which makes me have less and less respect for the football audience.

The associations should only be going after bad behaviour such as obscene gestures or offensive language from the players. And this animalistic behaviour by 'fans' pelting stuff at players and staff.
I'm really disgusted that they reprimanded Theo for that. I'll be damned if harmless banter without any form of insult is to be reprimanded by authorities. Will the FA and UEFA prohibit chants too? And eject fans who sing 'em?

Anyways, back to the subject of Theo's health and well being, I hope he has a speedy recovery. He will be sorely missed for this 2nd half of the season.

I hope Walcott's injury heals better than what the doctors are saying now. I also feel he should not be punished for the 2-0 sign, as a Spurs fan i think there was nothing wrong with that.

Rentboy, not all the fans are morons. My son was watching the game with me and he saw an Arsenal fan with a 'I 8 Spurs'- t-shirt. I was embarassed that a 10 year old should see something to associate football with hate, football is about joy.

I don't understand the hate between both Spurs and Arsenal fans. I have the impression that Spurs fans have it more out of frustration because Arsenal is by far the more successfull club. I don't see why that should be asource of frustation...they play good football and so they deserve success.

Sometimes i think that Spurs as a club would achieve more if the Arsenal fixation should stop...it's rather simple: concentrate on your own results and don't care about Arsenal's...some people would be satisfied if Spurs would win both matches against Arsenal and loose all the other.

I simply don't get that ridiculous rivalry...i also don't understand the Arsenal fans who are especially elated with this victory over Spurs...do you really consider this Spurs team as rivals ? They come nowhere near Arsenal... I could even remotely understand this if those feelings came from people from North London, but sometimes you read things like that from people who are from another continent...what do they care about a local rivalry...to be completely honest, this is ridiculous.

@gerd

I also saw that shirt, but I didn't consider that an offense. I think it is part of a folklore, a tradition of football. I would also have my Independiente shirt with something similar dedicated to their rival Racing Club, and I think deep down you might also wish the same to us :)

It was a big coincidence that here in Argentina a documentary short film was aired right before the match about football rivalries in London. It said that the Arsenal-Tottenham rivalry started because Arsenal decided to move too close to them in the early twentieth century (I believe you might have known that before :P), and some fans even confessed that in case they were relegated bou have beaten Arsenal at least once in the season, they would still be satisfied. Maybe Arsenal became so successful that their happiness can only limit to that :D

Now, referring to the Walcott situation I have some good news. Now that we need a winger and due to the fact that Merengue fans don't like him anymore for some suspicious "genital pose", we might have a chance of an arrival from Ángel di María to the Emirates. If so, everyone would be happy; Bale would have more space in the team, Florentino and Ancelotti would get rid of a pain in the ass, we would get an exquisit replacement and the boy will keep in form for the World Cup. I really hope this eventually happens (I especially want the last one to happen :P), looks even more factible than the Özil thing :)

I know, of course not all fans are like that, but unfortunately they're out there in huge numbers.
Rivalry always exist anywhere in the world, more or less violent depending on the region. Either way I agree it's something that may alienate others who perceive how stupid it can be. Most of the time I observe many aspects of this rivalry in dismay, at other times I must admit I've been drawn into it, when taunted by a Tottenham player or when observing such despicable behaviour like those reactions to Walcott's injury. I think stupid behaviours keep feeding this thing until it gets out of control. And it often does, I remember some Tottenham fans vandalising a pub in Holloway Road when I used to live nearby, after Arsenal won the derby at the Emirates 3-0.
I think some Arsenal fans would be capable of a similar feat and some of them did things in the past that don't exactly make me proud.

I think the problem is when it gets out of control, then it must be met with severe punishment.
I saw the '8 Spurs' shirt and the Arsenal fans have a chant that goes 'Stand up if you hate Tottenham' and all that. As stupid as it is (I too wished the fans would be more focused on bigger things than a local rivalry which seems too small for a club that plays in the CL every season for the past 17 years) these things are part of the banter and piss-taking you will find very commonly in English football. I met fans who have a brother in law or something, who is a Spurs fan and they take the piss out of each other, and they take it with good humour amongst themselves. They may chant those words but still have a healty relationship with their peers who just happen to support a different team.
So the '8 Spurs' shirt thing may be a small thing without much to it, but I do worry more when things escalate. There is a fine line between these demonstrations and harmful actions, especially allied to mob mentality and the dispersion of responsibility that it causes. Anonymity makes it easier for people to do stupid and inconsequential stuff.

I've been saying I have less respect for football audiences as a whole, considering especially what happened in the last round of the Brazilian league. For me, it puts things in perspective and I feel ashamed of such things.

Di Maria would be fantastic, I rate him highly from what I see of him in the Real Madrid shirt. For me, he's the most dedicated player on the pitch, it looks as though he would run through a brick wall for his team.
But I just don't see it happening. His price tag would be something prohibitive right now, after we spent all that money on Özil I guess. And I can't see why Ancelotti will let one of his best players leave. He's been leaving Bale on the bench every time I watch Real Madrid.

I would love it, but I don't think they would sell him.

The silver lining in this will be if Walcott recovers faster than expected, and we get Giroud and Bendtner back, and still sign a very good striker. Then we would be much better in terms of attacking options.

Wenger has to do something about this, no doubt about it. I don't know what the hell happened to this summer signing Sanogo, because against Tottenham it was Park Chu Young who was on the bench, and that tells you a lot.

As things stand we are dangerously light in attacking options.

Certain leagues across the world are on holiday and it might be easier to get deals from there i.e. Brazil, Russia, China, etc.

Just slip up will ya?

I hate it, but I am so happy (For Arsenes sake, and for the beauty of football in Engerland) that Arsenal are doing so well, it's been fantastic to watch.

The art of turning an easy game into a hard one - Chapter 46892435

It's unbelievable, irritating even, how this teams manages to have almost 70% of the possession and yet have less finishes than Aston Villa.

Yesterday was clearly a case of: if you don't kill a game off, it will bite back on your ass.

Totally unecessary that pressure in the end. The type of thing you would never see from Ferguson's United sides and this current Man City one.
We need that killer instinct, that sheer desire to stick 4 or 5 past the opposition. But there's no such thing in this Arsenal side, I'm afraid.

Villa were completely subdued during the whole match. But after the Benteke goal they were obviously a different beast. A beast created by our complacency.

And the most worrying thing about not scoring too many goals: with the league tight as it is, if we want to be champions we better ensure we win it on points, because if it's down to goal difference against City, forget it.

On a quick side note, what a horrendous cunt that Gab Agbonlahor fella is. Spent the whole 1st half diving, and the whole 2nd half elbowing players, the elbowy cunt. He did break Thomas Rosicky's nose in the end. And no card given.

Nacho Monreal has a suspected broken foot too, when Vlaar was blocking his shot. Let's hope it isn't a bad injury. With Gibbs returning from injury himself and Vermaelen out injured, we are a bit light there.
Not to mention Monreal had an excellent match too. Hope he makes it back to fitness real soon.

Yeah I was really surprised by Villa. In the 2nd half or our match against them they turned into a bunch of hatchet-jobs. Kept going through the back of players and leaving a foot in. Not really what you'd expect, and our match was basically over too.

Don't forget teams at this stage of the season brings out the ugly(frustraion ). Fulham will get ugly too IMO their season to this point is shocking . Notice the 3 tiers on the league table are very tight. Thin ice everywhere ...

Interesting, I'll keep an eye on Villa to see if the pattern repeats itself.

A few challenges, including Vlaar's tackle, I decided to give the benefit of the doubt, but I'll be watching them for this sort of thing.

Strangely, I wouldn't expect this sort of orders coming from a guy like Lambert. This is more McLeishish isn't it :P

And while we're still waiting for a January transfer (now the media is talking about Wenger mentoring Julian Draxler to evolve into a new Robin van Persie), another okay win against a lackluster team like Fulham. Great to see Cazorla can score, though it's quite alarming to see Giroud can't. We really need a striker if we want to lift something.
Seems like Õzil is directing the orchestra again just like ol' times. I like that. And I also see a great future in Serge Gnabry. He's doing great things this season.
