Arsenal Thread

interesting period for Arsenal now, dropped points at home to Everton, defeat in naples and now face probably the toughest domestic fixture of the season against City away, I suspect City will win and then that's two on the bounce.

let's see how much of that 'mental strength' you really have.

Im very concern :SS...even though we drop points vs Everton. So, did Chelsea and City that weekend. Liverpool are tricky and they`ll hopefully do their part and take points off the top clubs (CH+CY) :SMUG:

You know the end is neigh when people want to see Liverpool win games.

Wenger just said a few things in the pre-match press conference, which are hard to stomach. Speaking about Flamini:

“We had no real defensive midfielders. All our players in the middle of the park like to attack and are creatively focused.
“It is good that he is concerned by [defensive duties] because in our team most players are only concerned by how quickly we can go to the other goal.
“Someone who has that focus helps to stabilise our defensive record. He has certainly contributed to improve our defensive record.”

Fans have cried out for a defensive midfielder since before Song even left. And after that we spent 2 full seasons with Arteta doing that job. And now he says "yeah, our all players in midfield are only concerned with attacking, now it's good to have someone concerned with defending"?? Jesus Christ!
Hard to believe this stuff. Amazingly, Flamini only came on a free. I suspect if he was to cost money, Wenger wouldn't have signed him back.

Anyway... tomorrow will be a big one. Flamini and the rest of our defence should be busy. I hope we can defend well and have some moments of inspiration from Özil, Ramsey, Cazorla, Giroud...
It could go either way IMO.

I'm confident, however when I'm confident we usually lose

The only exception to that I can think of was the 6-0 vs Utd. I was confident before that game.

Yeah I don't think we really have a chance of winning going by recent games, city's form at home is too good. If we get a draw it will be great but I expect to lose this one.....hopefully not by a lot.

We are top of the league but the games we have dominated and looked great throughout are few and far between IMO. We have been getting results and played some great stuff at times, but against the bigger teams i still think we are underdogs.

But in saying all of that if we can play very well then of course we can win, I hope it does happen :-)

It's certainly a great game to watch.
Some very neat play from both teams, although City are looking a bit more dangerous at the moment.

BTW, an interesting thing I noticed during the game, from the 22 players on the field, only Wilshere and Walcott are English.
City don't have even a single Englishman in their starting 11! Madness.

Brilliant finish from Silva too

What the fuck is wrong with Arsenal!? This is not the team I have seen throughout the season, the defense is motionless, the midfield has disappeared, Sagna is constantly slipping!!

City just have he best team/squad in the prem by some way, their record at home is ridiculous.

At least we were scoring it makes the score line less humiliating, but they were much the better side as I expected.

We need a much better performance against Chelsea at home, but I still think our team is fragile against the best teams in the league.

Hopefully we get the performance we need against Chelsea otherwise it will be very depressing.

Man City deserved to win the 3 points, no discussion. But I wouldn't read too much into the score line. That was yet another shite ref who influenced the score line. Nick Bendtner's disallowed goal was just as onside as Negredo's and there was a hand ball by Zabaleta in their box. We got nothing our way really.

But, again, they got 3 points fully deserved and this is one of the few games there's no shame in losing. We could afford that, but we have to step it up to face Chelsea and avoid turning this into a collapse.

I'm concerned about the balance of this team. Not only our defence was out of sorts today, we had less solidarity from other players to help with defending. Especially when Wenger took Flamini out it all went tits up! Fernandinho and Touré had all the space and time on the ball. At some point we were losing possession inside our own half with Wilshere being caught on possession again and again (and complaining to the ref) while the others were on the other half waiting for the ball to come.
Monreal had a nightmare too... he was all over the place defensively.

And I didn't like the spirit of the team. When things went wrong the players sort of gave up and it could end up like a massacre, when it really shouldn't.

Bendtner played better than Giroud today, and that says a lot. Food for thought. Wenger, let's get a striker in.

City have scored 16 against United, Arsenal and Spurs in the three games. frighteningly good!

Chelsea aren't anywhere on that level, it will be a much closer game that one.

City is just too brilliant today. I do question the sideline ref (2) offside calls in the final 3rd that were miles onside . 7sot and 6 goals ...

about Per n Ozil, one was more heated then the other. So, I`m sure its among brothers.

edit: It seems Per was upset ,because Ozil ignored the Arsenal fans.Per is Captain and feels bother by it.

he leads in assist in the league? he had a assist today...what you on about?

He means Özil (and others) had just stopped caring. There's an attitude problem with some players.

Özil may be a brilliant player, but his commitment to track back and tackle is very similar to Arshavin's for instance. I've been noticing this for a while.

Other players disappeared too, especially after Flamini got subbed and the team got seriously exposed.

Yep, that was it, and Mertesacker was rightfully upset with him. Didn't expect this from Ozil, he seems like a nice lad...
