Good result, Southampton were pretty poor I though. Didn't seem to press Arsenal which is weird.

Boruc...sigh...

Things are looking good for Arsenal this season. Southampton were just as poor when the played United, but got lucky at the end on a corner deflection. Opposite happened for Arsenal in very similar matches. That's the kind of thing that decides titles.

No need to have our morale down. As I said, losing one-nil to United at Old Trafford isn't a shame to anyone.

Yesterday was strange. We didn't play badly, but we weren't that great. Our playmakers Cazorla and Özil confined to the wings! That still bothers me a lot.
Özil showed glimpses of true brilliance in the first half even on the right wing though.

And Giroud is turning into some player for us!

Well Boruc... what a cock up that was! hahaa

If I'm not mistaken, this wasn't his first blunder this season was it?

Cazorla has been playing on the wing ever since he has arrived here. Now that Walcott is back we should take advantage of finally having a winger, though choosing the substitute will be hard (Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey are indisputable starters, so we are left between Wilshere and Arteta...).

On the other hand, I'm not surprised about Giroud, but he has to be more consistent, more regular. Otherwise, Podolski might have a triumphant comeback when he gets better.

I wouldn't bring Walcott in. Why change a winning formula? You're forgetting Flamini as well.

Walcott should have to bide his time. No way should he walk straight back in. He's good but he aint no Messi

Agreed. Walcott can strengthen the Gunners at his best but anything less he can only bring imbalance to the team ATM imho

Godotelli and dplane, are you sure? Arsenal is having an impressive head start as we all know, but I see Walcott as a boost rather as an alteration of our formula. Probably I wouldn't put him in right away, I would give him time to get fit again. It's like when playing Career mode on FIFA and your player has just recovered, but still has a bandaid symbol.

Why Theo might be a boost to me? I noticed that in the last few matches (Dortmund, United and now Saints) we are lacking offensiveness. I mean, results were not bad at all - 2-0-1 -, but see how we dealt with these matches. In Germany we relied deeply in our defence after that Ramsey shocker, and I admit Borussia deserved that match more than us. I won't talk about Man Utd (well, just a little. Sagna, Ozil and Cazorla in a smaller range were the only ones willing to attack) and now against Southampton we beat them because of a penalty and Lionel Boruc. We need him, but we must be patient with him.

That's the question. I think there are too many central players in our starting XI, and they are too good...
Maybe Wilshere or Arteta might be in, but I'm not sure...

I think podolski will be doing great with this team if he can come up completely healthy. his rocket shots will provide the extra variety.

walcott? just send that useless sprinter to the bench.

Walcott got us 22goals and 11 assists last season (I think those were the stats?) hardly useless.

But I do agree at the moment just bring him on in the last 25mins or something, until he is fully fit or tactically if he may be more effective against a certain team.

yes, that's what I'd mean to say actually. although it looked a bit more like I was just trolling. :D

I don't know. maybe I don't like theo. I mean, I don't like any player who never managed to turn out to be the player I expected him to be. it makes me a bit prejudicial about players like him.

I always take it season by season. the last season the numbers are pretty good (looks great tbf). when I watch the games, he looks useless most of the time. one moment of brilliance or a mistake by defence, bam, he's on the scoresheet (or the 'assistsheet'), he's the motm. well, the goals are okay, but I don't like the assist stat itself. maybe the pass, the one the assistant receives is much more crucial than the 'assist', you know. and it often happens to be so. although walcott has that 'danger' in him against the opponents, you can't sacrifice your 80 minutes of football for a player like him all the time. he's certainly quick but he can quite possibly be a barrier to the fluidity the arsenal team have this year. he'd better be left out as an impact sub, imo.

I like...

Rosicky ......Özil.........Cazorla

.......Ramsey...Flamini.....

These players are constantly moving around. While Flamini is constantly moving in a defense mode (SerieA taught him well)

Walcott is devastating when we take the lead. Teams have to open themselves a bit and that's when he's a major threat. He's more of a counter attacking player IMO, although last season he did well on a number of occasions to open the score sheet.

Right now though, maybe Wenger should use him in this scenario.

If we get back our injured players, this team looks pretty darn good (only lacking a decent replacement for Giroud, and our backup keepers to Szczesny are sort of an unknown quantity right now, even Fabianski).

------------------Szcz-----------------------
--------------(Fab/Viviano)------------------

--Sagna-----Merte-------Kos-------Gibbs------
(Jenks)----(Verm)----(Sagna?)--(Monreal)-----

-----------Flamini--------------------------

There are other fringe players like Zelalem and Miaychi who are promising, but clearly aren't ready, and the unfortunate Diaby with his perenial injury woes.

Of course I didn't put all players necessarily where Wenger plays them (Özil more central, or Wilshere deeper in the half). Regardless, our midfield looks delicious, with excellent cover everywhere.
IMO all Wenger needs to do right now is find a decent cover for Giroud (or if the opportunity presents itself, someone of an even higher level).

Sorry but did u just make up a player called Akpom? lol :)

The fact that Akpom is regarded as one of our girud replacement speaks volumes :(

His name is Chuba Akpom - and I couldn't have come up with that myself! :D

I put him in there because Wenger used him as a sub once this season. Apparently ahead of Sanogo in the pecking order, go figure! Maybe he found out the long-legged Frenchman Sanogo suffers from chronic Diabytis? Too late now, if it's the case.

So yeah, that's why I mention in my post we need another CF ASAP. This is our most pressing issue. If something was to happen to Giroud (touch wood!) we'd be f*cked.

To be frank, I kind of prefer to have Akpom instead of Bendtner, who clearly has no business playing football for this club anymore.

Podi is not fit, and he won`t be at his best until another 5-6wks. Plus, notice how Ozil n Rosicky are so fluent w/ each other. Cazorla has not been in the mix. I know in a few weeks he will be. Theo`s 1st game w/ Ozil was eye dropping...Ozil knows how to play w/ a speedster . To rub OZil a bit more he also adapts to a slow build-up. He`s a Dj that can run any party hip-hop-jazz-culture-techno :)

Here's what Bendtner has been up to:

Yet another vandalism case. Oh dear.

He clearly can't focus on football especially getting himself into trouble repeatedly like this. I saw some stats the other day, I think he doesn't score a single goal for a club (including the loan period with Juventus) since 2011?

If Giroud can't play for some reason or another, it's either him, Sanogo or Akpom.

Plese Wenger do something in Jan. Now that we're looking so good, we cannot fall short because of lack of strikers!

He said Benzema won`t comine even though he rates him highly. Its due to both being on the French squad its too complicated. Wenger cares for country as much as his club :) .

We will need a player that will play 2nd fettle to Giroud, Im thinking Remy, Ba(doubt it) , or a loan move for pato.

A Pato revival would be awesome!
The media is now talking about a possible move from Ciprian Marica (haha, faggot xD) from Getafe, but I think it won't go far, since he has just arrived from Schalke this year...

Great stuff from Jack tonight!
Good solid win 2-0, now it's job half done. We can play for a draw at Naples to finish 1st in this group.
I feel if we want a proper run in the CL this season we need to finish 1st.

I watched Pato sometimes for Corinthians this season and it's a no thanks from me. Overrated player who never really lived up to expectations and if it wasn't enough, now has a bit of an attitude problem. Aaand he's a diver. So I'd rather not have him :P

I'm sure Wenger can find someone better in January, even if he said he probably won't sign someone then. But we're definitely in need of cover there.
