Arsenal Thread

:TTTH: Robin's a great lad, that's why you lot didn't win anything with him, he's too nice, once you get a cunt like Suarez you'll be back to vintage Arsenal ;)

Yes I must confess, I'm eagerly waiting for cunt superstars to join. We need to be as feared and hated as before.
But in the supercunt league Robin climbed up to the top with that open statement. We lost a major cunt right there, such a shame.

I really hope we do get him. At first I was very hesitant, but over time I have grown really accustomed to the idea to the point where I am getting impatient over his signing.

I hope Wenger signs Julio Cesar and a midfielder as well.

Be careful now and manage your expectations. I know the feeling, and if come September 1st we have zilch signings, you won't be pleased.
I prefer to assume we will sign no one (or maybe only a 17 year old from Vietnam). Then if something big happens I'll be all pleased and surprised :)

In all seriousness, I just don't know why Arsenal is focusing so much on Suarez and not trying other options. If we're to spend big, why not send a beautiful briefcase with £45m to Dortmund with a card saying "Tired of selling your best players to your arch rivals Bayern? We'll happily take Lewandowski off your hands for that tidy sum. Yours sincerely, Arsene".
I bet they'd be seriously tempted.

Ian Wright is one of the worst pundits I have ever witnessed. He was an amazing player for us and all....a legend even, but I don't see how anybody can take the guy seriously when he talks.

every your guy think Suarez should pick Liverpool above Arsenal ;)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23539678

did you only read the title ?

"Suarez is a world-class striker and if he didn't have all the baggage around him, I feel the Barcelonas, Real Madrids and Bayern Munichs would be sniffing around," said the ex-England international.
"That's why I believe Arsenal should try to bring him in - because I feel it's the only time they could get someone like that. In another market, I don't think he'd even look at Arsenal."

actualy I love that vs Rafael :D

and I just now understand he hate Ivanovic from before , maybe thats reason why he bite him

since wenger is a calm guy he better dont sign Suarez he's going to kick his ass too :D

Napoli playing pretty well. The club's ambition is through the roof, just by judging their transfer strategy.

BT Sport commentators are quite ignorant, questioning Higuain's choice for going to 'little' Napoli.

Napoli realy look good, even without Higuain right now..solid defence..

i´m not 100% confident in Reina, seems not realy focused, but he saved a penalty...

great effectivity by Napoli by counter attacks..

Arsenal look shaky in defence... they need a top CB more than a CF imo.

Im watching it in spanish...All they say about SerieA is that England has the safest league...Italians have too many violence like in South America. England league is much more popular as well.

You mean shaky keeper ! the 2 CB were great . Jenkins was not at fault he headed the ball in the air and the GK failed to do what all keeper does run and catch it. The 2nd goal was him running out and got caught. We need a GK that`s for sure. If we hand another finisher on the team we would of score more.We need CF!more

I love Giroud`s bicycle kick , and Koscielny scored as well.

The Drogba looked stronger than ever. I wouldn`t mind the Drog at the Emirates. Im glad they won! imagine Wenger spouting out we don`t need anyone we won the Emirate Cup. Shocking Drog dive though

Anyhow , I think Jen needs to be loaned out! I would love a DM & CF !

Hi all it was at the Emirates. On my way back home now. I will post some pictures later. I took my dad with me. It was his first time at the Emirates and he loved it

Is that a Barclay's Premier League trophy or the Cunt of The Year trophy? Enlighten me, cause I haven't seen the Premier League trophy in a long time, but I do know Robin won both of them ;)

Okay, my impressions of the Emirates Cup now. I haven't seen yesterday against Napoli, but I saw the highlights us being hit on the break by 3 of their players against 2 of our defenders, and the game was 0-2 at that point, so you can't say it was looking pretty.
The team only fought its way back with two scrappy goals, which is fine, but not the Arsenal we're used to.

And today we scored a lucky goal and were losing the midfield battle to a side which isn't very strong (with all due respect to Galatasaray). And Drogba exposed us - first by diving, sure, but the second goal was class. And before that he'd been tormenting our defence as usual.

So I'm no longer gonna beat around the bush here: this Arsenal team isn't strong enough and it showed. Of course we didn't play some of our best players Wilshere and Koscielny for instance, and had youngsters like Zelalem, Sanogo and Gnabry and so on... but still it shows that, as it is, we don't have what it takes to be challenging and (once again) Wenger is letting us start a season in a questionable manner, in times when we actually have the resources to strengthen this team.
We have less than a month, sure, and I hope some things happen in that respect and we don't start this season with this thin squad we have now (with all due respect to our youngsters).

Totally agree with you, Rentboy. This time around Wenger has no excuses left. And with all other rivals strengthening their squads, even getting Top 4 will be nearly impossible this time around if we enter the season with this squad. I just don't understand what Wenger is thinking and I feel frustrated on his stance.

I feel like Wenger is just dead-set on a big-name striker, when the squad has much needed strengthening in other areas as well. I'm not sure if he's set out to prove that Arsenal can sign that monumental player or if he just doesn't feel like spending/thinks the squad is good enough.

I, personally, don't care so much about a star signing. I mean the threshold for stardom has been significantly decreasing year by year anyways, where above-average players will be considered top calibre signings. Just buy a mid, a goalie, and a striker already, Wenger.

In other news, my home team is linked with your team's star striker, Fred, Rentboy. Any chance we can actually sign him or it's just speculation by the media and managers? What do you say? :D We also have a Deco look-a-like on the squad.

Arsenal still have more depth in the squad than (for example) Spurs. That is what cost Spurs fourth place last season. IMO it' s the first eleven that is weak compared to the other big teams.

I think the difference between the first 11 and the fringe players is not that big. That is Arsenal weakness to become champions, but it is an asset in the race for fourth place. I think most Arsenal fans look aboove the fourth place (which is natural for fans of such a big club), but IMO that is unrealistic. With this squad, winning fourth place is an achievement.

Of course this is a dangerous thing to say at the beginning of a season, i copuld well be proven wrong... but that is the impression i have now.

This is a team that should strengthen his spine: a good GK, at least one better CB (i'm far from impressed by Merteszacker and Koscielny), a DMF and a CF are all necessary in the immediate future...

So much blabbing nonsnce in this thread IMO. worse then twitter and daily mail crap :(

Come on guys dont post bollox just for the sake of it.
I went to the games yesterday and atmosphere was good.

It was typical arsenal really. same old story. Arsenal scoring a lucky goal and conceding silly goals.

What is funny is that even if we had Messi as our striker we still would not create anything. It doesnt matter if we buy suarez, messi etc because if our midfielders and wingers cant create chances for our forward then whats the point?

We need to buy a 50m Midfielder genius who can create the chances because right now, none of our midfielders seem to be able to.

I can see why Eboue was sold. Such a lazy player. He is happy to bomb forward when attacking but after that he always walked his way back to RB position. At times he was the furthest player forward for Galatasary.

Here are a few pics from yesterday

I agree about the threshold between being a star or a good player is smaller. There are sensation players like Cissé or Demba Ba at Newcastle, but they failed to impress after a great first season. And then there are players who are just waiting to explode as the next big thing, such as Van Persie (who spent years hampered by injury at Arsenal and then had 2 seasons of his life, 2011-2012 for Arsenal and 2012-13 for United).

That old saying that "at Arsenal we make stars" would apply too, but now we need to think short term. There's a gap in quality.
If it's a big name striker, or 3 or 4 fairly good new players, it remains to be seen, but it needs to be done ASAP. We're 2 weeks away from the start of the league and if Wenger brings players from overseas there's the adaptation period, settling in the squad, finding a house in London and learning a new language. We could already have some players bedding in by now, but unfortunately nothing was done.

As for Fred, I don't know nothing about that. What is your team, by the way, AK?
I haven't read anything about him leaving in the Brazilian press. Some 3 years ago he had been linked with Napoli, but ended up staying and finding excellent form at Fluminense, winning the league twice in the last 3 years, being top scorer last season and earning first XI status in the Brazilian National team.

So if I had to guess, he will stay where he is right now. Things are going smooth for him and a change of scene could put his place in the Brazil XI in danger for the WC 2014.

I could only see him leaving the country after the World Cup, if he ever does.

I sort of agree with this, I mean, the players in our first XI aren't on par with Chelsea's or both Manchester clubs. The quality is a bit more levelled, although we do have outstanding players here and there, like Koscielny and Cazorla who did extremely well last season, and Arteta and Walcott who are very important pieces right now.

But the thing about depth isn't true right now, because Arsenal has released 8 players! And more will follow suit. So, regardless of how well those players were doing, the fact is that we lost 8 senior players and only one addition was made in the form of Yaya Sanogo, who's hardly a proven player.
So basically we're replacing pieces with youngsters at the moment. If nothing changes (and I doubt we'll sign 5 or 6 players) we will have a thiner squad this season.

I didn`t realie you were a professional. Great photos...I felt like I was there  even brought the emotions in the photos. Now, I know the difference btw pictures n photos. Photography-mendoza !

I was thinking , never have I seen the atmosphere btw the squad in such unity. I mean Titi-Helb, Gallas-Toure/Nasri, Bendtner-Adebayor were all feud-bots. There was always a pair that made the whole squad feel uncomfortable . Last season we saw the club in a courtship after the winter -transfer period, and it has blossom to something real special . Is it enough to win a trophy I hope so at least domestic-wise.
