Arsenal Thread

Someones stolen Wenger's checkbook, he'll have a heart attack when he finds someone bidded over 10M on his behalf. :P

I am surprised at this though, Suarez is a bit of a cunt but then again Arsenal were at their best when they were filled with those, maybe Wenger's trying to bring that mean streak back.

I'm beginning to warm up to Suarez. 40 million sterlings makes about 46 million euros.

I think that's a good deal, maybe it's too much for Arsenal in terms of what they're used to paying. And Liverpool also maybe expecting a higher fee in terms of what has been paid for Cavani and some other transfers.

So, I think that's a good spot. Objectively, I can't see Liverpool not being pleased with 46 million euros.

I hope the deal goes through, especially now that Higuain, Villa, and Jovetic have been snapped up. If we don't get Suarez we'll be looking at Rooney (highly unlikely. i'm not sure he's a good fit for Arsenal) or some other lower-profile alternatives like Gerd mentioned. But I feel an established high-calibre transfer is what we need, rather than a promising candidate. (We already have/had that with Gervinho, Chamakh, Giroud, etc).

I think Suarez and Giroud will complement each other well.

Hoping, of course, that Suarez will behave. I'm optimistic, maybe a change of atmosphere will help?

Edit: Also, sign up Julio Cesar and a mid, please.

arsenal's biggest transfers to date

reyes €20m
cazorla €19m
wiltord €17.5m

and you guys really believe that they will pay £40m for suarez? I think that is just optimism at its best. still, I hope you won't be disappointed.

if you'd ask my opinion, it's such a shame to see one of the richest clubs like arsenal being so miser all the time in every transfer window.

If we are making bids for him of course they are willing to buy him for hat amount. To be honest I hope we stop there because 45-50million is too much. For a player that misses 6 games of the season at least, has the potential to drag the club through the dirt and could want to leave next season and be a dick, it is such a big gamble.

Higuain might have been a good signing, but at the price he's going to Napoli for - I wouldn't be anywhere near it.

More sugar daddy madness. How can Higuain cost that much? Cause Monaco just splashed out mega overpriced bucks on Cavani.

Insanity. Going to put perhaps 5 players into the top 15 or so most expensive transfers of all time this summer alone.

Its PSG and what`s really crazy they gave nearly all to RM

Callejon €9M
Albiol €9M
Higuain €37M
........€55M

it's three from this year (cavani, falcao, neymar) in top-16 atm but if madrid pulls the trigger (bale) as they did in 2001 and 2009, think it will be the craziest transfer window ever.

I agree with beachryan, it's all due to sugar daddy madness.

I was hoping we could land Higuain but now that we just missed out on him and I look at the figure Napoli paid for him (around 34m pounds) I'm kinda relieved Arsenal didn't go there.
£34m is too much for a player of Higuain's calibre. Instead of paying that amount for him, I still think Suarez for around £45m is still a better deal.

Problem is, Liverpool sees all that madness and puts a £55m price tag on him. We won't get anywhere near that, I hope. But Madrid will, if they want.
Their main target might be Bale, but there's a chance they'd get Suarez.

Again, this is the cascade effect of PSG's sugar daddies paying over the odds for Cavani, after which Napoli could afford to pay over the odds for Higuain, which in turn makes it (even more) possible for Madrid to spend outrageous money.

Arsenal are out of this loop of insanity so far, as we haven't sold any player this summer for ridiculous money. And I think we shouldn't do it, anyway.

I know they want a landmark signing but Suarez, albeit one of the best strikers in the world now, is a huge gamble. He said he wanted to leave England anyway, so I don't know what Arsenal is thinking really.

It would be funny if it was true.

I heard all the defenders on Arsenal told Wenger, he is a nightmare to defend. I hear many Liverpool supporters crying about loyalty, we stood behind him blah, blah and the truth is we know the feeling.

A snake is on the middle of a mountain. A climber passes him . The snake asked "Please, put me in your pocket and take me up?" The Climber replied "NO ! you`ll bite me" . The snake says " I surely won`t do that, you`re helping me to the top" The climber is convinced and put the snake in his pocket. As the climber nearly reaches the top, the snake crawl out and before reaching the top bites the climber and says "You knew what I was before you put me in your pocket" The climber falls and land at the bottom.

The snake are footballers and the climber are the clubs.

The only way this can happen is if, Luis puts in a transfer request imo. This snake is well familiar w/ pockets :COAT:
Either way Im desperate for success

Haha you could of just swapped the snake for Suarez. He gives Suarez a piggy back up the mountain and then Suarez bites him ;-)

Everyone knows Bernard is Porto bound. I believe Porto does the grooming and they sell players for a good return. Although Shakhtar is another welcoming spot . Arsenal doesn't need him , we have the Ox!

You have Rosicky playing on his last contractual season. he responded "I play every game like my last" So, a natural response from Sagna is 'I play where its needed, CB,RB and now GK '

Arsenal U19 got beaten by KF Prishtina (Kosovo) on RUHR Cup 2013 , wow even Prishtina beat you guys ? shame on you

Maybe because our U19s now are made of 15 year olds - since we cleared the decks in our squad I think we have been using the likes of Gnabry, Eisfeld, Miquel, Ryo Miachi, et al in our Asia tour.

I don't really know :P

This Suarez saga is wearing me down now. We surely can't shell out 50m in one player? We barely got past the 15m mark as our record.
As a player, Suarez would be a dream. But with that amount of money and controversy involved, it's all very very risky.

I still can't stomach the fact City got Jovetic for 23m without much contention from us.
We all know the team needs strengthening in all positions - we are releasing 8-10 players this summer. It makes this Suarez story all the more absurd. With that kind of money you get a decent keeper and get cover for defence, midfield and attack. Historically, we would, with that kind of money.

I'm all for a landmark signing, don't get me wrong. I'm just not sure if Suarez would be the right one, especially for that kind of money. This is what Chelsea paid for Torres and we all were like WTF? And we all know how it backfired. So it's a massive gamble.

As for Suarez himself, he's not a likeable lad, not at all. But he does have a point when he says he's persecuted in England. Whether you like it or not, when you get a ban twice as long as John Terry's for the same type of offense, you have all the right to feel persecuted.

The best for him would be a fresh start elsewhere.

What would you do if we don't sign anyone?
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Give us some time, we'll bring back Alex Song
Yeah we'll try to work out a good fee

Oh we get by with a little help from our French.
Ooh we'll get higher in the table for a change.
Mmm, we're gonna try with a little help from our French.

Do we need anybody? We need somebody up front.
It could be anybody. Apart from Suarez that cunt.

Come on, Wenger. Buy Julio Cesar, a midfielder, and a proper forward for crying out loud.

We don't care if they're 'stars'. Just bring more top quality class into the squad i.e. Cazorla.

No, Wenger. Diaby doesn't count as a new signing.

What's the deal with Julio Cesar?? I heard Napoli wanted him, but he wasn't willing to take a paycut as his family wanted to stay in London and not move abroad again. So with Arsenal, he gets to stay in London, play for a top club, challenge in the Champions League, and cement his place for next year's World Cup, so what is stalling the deal? Is he asking for a lot that Arsenal can't afford, or what is the deal?

I read the reason why Higuian was passed on was he was a St only. Where as Giroud couldn`t share the line at top. Suarez can play across the top and Giroud could still play w/ Suarez. The question is Suarez looks like the deal won`t go. We need a player that can be a AM, CF, and ST. Surely there`s a player in the pipeline Gervinho looks like he agreed terms w/ Roma.
