Arsenal Thread

Can we count on this being a done deal already?

Some of my fellow gooner friends are saying Fellaini is also in the bag. Fingers crossed.

Would surely add some much needed height to a fairly diminutive Arsenal side. I think Fellaini serves a purpose, and he does it well, but at the same time I don't consider him any more than a really good utility player.
Him + RvP's corners would have potential..but I digress.

If we consider what've happened to the clubs that bought Real Madrid second choices, this would be the transfer of the season.

Arsenal very close to signing Fellaini, the only problem are his wage demands (120.000 euro/week).
Wenger already wanted to buy Fellaini last season but changed his priorities because Wilshere was injured and bought a creative midfielder...

I think he will be a great success at Arsenal if we get him. Even though he played in an attacking position most of last season, we miss a Gilberto Silva type player for many a year - the 'invisible wall' ;)

would be intriguing to see how Wenger would utilize someone like Fellaini in his team.

I think he's a 'good' player but not totally convinced how he'll fair at Arsenal.

I think he would be playing where Arteta is playing now, as the most defensive of the midfielders. But that wouldn't preclude him from venturing forwards, especially at setpieces.

Then Wenger would have to decide what to do with Arteta, Wilshere and Cazorla.
If only 2 of them would play, then I fear for Cazorla being played on the wings like so many times this season. I hope not, because he's a hell of a player when he is in the hole pulling the offensive strings.

One thing is certain, the Fellaini signing should be the top priority at the moment. We need that type of player in our midfield.

Then we could thing about Higuain. In all fairness, this deal is taking so long now that I fully expect City or Chelsea to hijack it.

Last but not least, a keeper will be needed too.

Arsenal better start sealing their signings because the other teams around us are doing theirs.

why cant we rotate and have cazola play in CL matches/top teams and have fellani play against the likes of stoke?

Getting a new GK would be great! Felliani wants 120k then give`em 110k. We have so many players leaving by June 3oth they`re no longer on the books.

120k is nothing. only about 15k more then walcott. not as if his asking for 200k. the RM player will be asking for around 150k region. he will be more expensive

You need more Fellaini against top teams and more Cazorla against lesser teams.
I don't necessay mean the players themselves (i think both players should Always play for Arsenal, that is to say if Fellaini isn't careless or nonchalant, because that's something he does with our national team now and then and that has cost him his starter place).

There's no conflict between Cazorla and Fellaini. Cazorla is our most offensive MF and Fellaini is a DMF. Arteta shall be played in his original CMF position (where Diaby plays sometimes). The player who competes with Cazorla is Wilshere. But Wilshere is versatile and he can take the CMF Arteta role too. So I reckon the competition would be more between Arteta and Wilshere.

Which would be a good thing because we don't know how fit Wilshere is. Then we will have in Ramsey a good squad player and... ouch! I forgot about Rosicky!

If Fella comes and all these guys are fit, we'll be happy this season. That's a big IF though...

Do you guys reckon the Julio Cesar deal will still go through after he had such a solid showing in the Confederations Cup?

I know no solid deal is in place, but he has been heavily linked woth a move, so I assume he is a realistic target for Wenger. Just curious how his performance will affect the possible move.

I think you don't have much to worry about as he'd probably prefer to stay in London. all the big clubs are pretty happy with there goalkeeping options other than Arsenal.

I don`t rate him at all , I rather have Szcy

typical Arsenal they made 2 bids for Bender. I didn`t even know we were even looking at him. That`s when you know Arsene is working his magic. The media are throwing other names while Le Professeur is attempting to sign players under the noses.

I think Cesar would be a very good signing, he is a bit better than Szczesny at the moment, but I think as well Szczesny would learn a lot under Cesar and then in 2-3 years (perhaps when Cesar retires or wants to move to a less high profile club) you would have Szczesny as first choice.

Cesar has said he wants to stay in London, I cant see Spurs signing him when they have Lloris and Friedel, Chelsea have Cech (and Courtois is on loan in Spain), Speroni is one of Palace's best players (so they are more likely to sign players in other areas), Fulham could have been an option especially when they let Schwarzer go but they have signed Stekelenburg so if he really does want to stay in London it only really leaves West Ham or Arsenal.

Julio Cesar > Łukasz Fabiański + Wojciech Szczęsny + Vito Mannone

you guys would be lucky to get him , but I dont think you'll since you're learn with shite goalkeepers

Szczesny is a keeper with a lot of ability but zero consistency, rough around the edges if you will. Time spent learning from a world class keeper like Julio Cesar could sharpen him up and make him into one of the better keepers in the league, or there will he no change.. either way benefits come in one way or another..

NEVER , he'll never make it

Typical Diaby signing injury list longer than his playing stats. Looks langy and fragile , looks like a dark flamingo w/o the finess.

I've watched Sanogoal scoring some acrobatic beauties for France u-21. Lets give him some time :)

Jovetic cooled off completely.
I'm now waiting for news on Higuain, Fellaini or Julio Cesar.

Im starting to believe that Higuian is actually coming to the Emirates and not to watch a friendly either. How clever that our #20 shirt is available too ,cheers Djourou . Higuian wears #20 for RM

Anyhow it looks like RM is squeezing us with £23.1 m . They wanted £25.5m even when no other club is wanting the player . So the semi-facts are he`s on £70k at RM and we`re offering £100k that`s still not denting structure in the wages. Rooney £250k  would need to be desperate to join us £175k give him 75% imagine rights
