Arsenal Thread

Just about did it! Now we know the rest. Keep the players, strengthen key positions, spend, spend, spend.

Amidst a storm of criticism received by this Arsenal side, Gary Neville just made an interesting point: Last 10 years, Arsenal had a net spend of only £9m. Playing CL year in, year out. Outstanding achievement by Wenger.

Other interesting stats: 3rd best attack and 2nd best defence in the league! I bet you won't read this in the papers. Especially when we see so often the media branding Arsenal's defence as shaky, dodgy, inconsistent, and so on.

Laurent Koscielny was nothing short of spectacular. A monster! Not only for scoring the goal, but look at what he did defensively in the last 25 minutes.

Anyways, great great result! :D

Last season it was Vermaelen n Koscienly, this season Per n Koscienly. Its fair to say Koscienly deserve being 1st choice. I hope we get another defender in the mix make the fighting spot much harder.

Those twats at BBC's match of the day do my head in. It was soo damm obvious that they hated arsenal for making top 4 saying shit like "what a boring end to the season"

Anyways what a game. we was solid and efficient. played with pride and determination in a game we would have easily lost a couple of seasons ago.

This was like a cup final. a game in which we had to win and over the past 8 years we have failed to win important games like this time and time again.

This was a breath of fresh air. To see us play with pride, passion and determination in a must win game is rare. I hope this is the end of dross lacklust passion and no determination. i hope this is the end to fighting for top 4 and i Hope this is the beginning of the old arsenal who fights for titles.

Please wenger no more fighting for top 4. We need to fight for CL and Title. we can do this. Add in 2-3 players and we can make it happen.

Arsenal will never finish below Spurs while Wenger is there, so it was never in doubt. ;)

With the rest of the top four in transition and appointing new managers next season, this is probably the best chance of a solid title shot Arsenal have had for a few seasons.

I would like to think domestic cup were more of reach then the title. We couldn't manage that Bradford n Rover?!?

consistancy is king for winning the title. we seem to beat the lower league teams fine now. we just need to beat 2 out of the top 4 teams to compete for title

There's this talk of more money available to Wenger and having a proper go at the transfer market, etc. All this sounds very encouraging until we read news about Abramovich ready to dump more than £100m into signings again. Once again making a mockery of FFP and I don't know how they will do it??

It's true that among the top 4 teams Arsenal is the only one keeping their manager, so in theory that would give us some advantage. But we all know how Mourinho is capable of hitting the ground running, so I you never know.

Anyways, I'm expecting Arsenal to have a strong start to the season.

Chelsea spending shouldn't worry you, your very rarely looking at the same players, their always looking for someone with a very high profile which irregardless of Chelsea would probably be out of reach for Arsenal. As long as Wenger identifies his target's and get's the deal's done swiftly you'll be fine.

Well, Mourinho has been found out . He has taken the biggest club like RM and left it in a civil war. Whether he h its the ground running possibly. Mutd not offering him the job speaks volumes :)

We're always sold out.

And the most empty seats I've seen this season has been at the emirates

I just read that sorry I wasn't aware the owner buy all empty seats. It's so wide spread their buying a new MLS franchise in New York City of seats . I think this FFP is getting out of hand tbh how are we able to sell average players for outrageous prices if City stop shopping at the Emirates. :(
Arsenal match at Emirates Stadium as of 2012 is 46,539 against Shrewsbury Town in the Football League Cup third round on 20 September 2011

We better becareful we might wake the Mutd supporters and their massive stadium counts :)

@Beach hahahaha'!!!

We're always sold out.

Hrm?

I was referring to league games but then that pic is from a 4th round cup replay against Notts County, which was also on TV.

OT has been less full in cup games, even CL games.

Next.

So playing hard and loose with the definition of ALWAYS sold out I see.

Okay, coolio.

I beg to differ here, as Mata and Hazard were Arsenal targets and Chelsea got them from under AW's nose by outbidding Arsenal and paying those indecent salaries, as per standard practice at Stamford Bridge.

So if Wenger beats around the bush too much during negotiations with Jovetic, I wouldn't doubt Chelsea swooping in again. I think they use Arsenal targets as part of their scouting system :P

I saw this earlier today
Made by someone with a lot of time on their hands!

While we're looking at funny stuff, did you guys see Alex Song during the trophy presentation at Barcelona?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HNKK4WLJqWY

Now a guy who played some 3 or 4 matches during the whole league and thinks he's gonna be the first to lift the trophy... which planet is he from??

Well , he just joined, so his words arent to put Wenger down ,but to lift Pellegrini up.
Arsene Wenger is Arsenal’s linchpin. Everything goes through him. He’s a motivator. He gave me confidence by putting me in the team as soon as I arrived,’ he added

Pellegrini is very good ,but he will need time to adjust to a new world n league.
