Arsenal Thread

Age is the difference w players...Cesc is 25, and Xavi won't be there in 2 yrs as a starter. Cesc is at home and Cesc is playing like a CF ! Not the ideal position. Plus, their coach has dealt w/ cancer n recovering.

I want you to show me where I said that we didn't have the highest ticket prices? really saying stuff like this makes me sound like an idiot and it winds me up.

I saw the articles and heard people mentioning it before you even said anything about it. let me put it in bold and see if it gets through I WAS NOT DENYING WE HAD THE HIGHEST TICKET PRICE!!!!!

As I said, I can't be bothered to look for that. It'd be a waste of time and energy.
It's not a windup, or much less an attempt to make you look like an idiot.

I never said you were denying anything, it was just your general attitude when we started discussing the prices. After the fixtures were restructured into tiers A, B and C I remember we were complaining how expensive it was to go watch a 'tier A' fixture (I think it was Jonney going to watch a match against Chelsea or City or something).
While I complained of abusive prices you said something like tickets that could be bought for £35, which was irrelevant to that case and could be misleading to others (people who wouldn't know you'd only get shit seats in tier C matches for that price).
When I see you putting a twist like this, that's when you come across as being lenient with whatever the Arsenal board throw at us.

This is the last I want to say on this. I don't want to even think of ticket prices anymore, as it pisses me off just to think of it, and that as a result I only saw one match at the Emirates this season.

I don't know. Only they themselves will know that.
t's true that certainly Song hasn't played much. On the other hand one of the reasons Belgian football players usually give (particularly if the fear not to play much) is that they do develop because they can train every day with some of the best players in the world. This might be an excuse, but it also might be true.

Being a yout hcoach myself, i can see that some players can become better when training with very good players. Of course you can't compare kids with adult professional football players.

So my answer is: i tend to agre ewith you, but i'm not sure...i really don't know. I Do know one thing about Song: another 2 season like this one and he wnats to go to another club.

I agree that players get better when training with the best, players that are role models and they get to watch them closely at training and learn a lot. Vicarious learning, and all that. But I pretty much doubt Barcelona bought them with that in mind. They were buying Cesc and Song as ready made players (and their price tags acknowledge that fact). In the end, it looks like Barcelona didn't need these guys, they just spent money for the sake of it, or maybe to keep up with Madrid in terms of expenditure. You know, Spanish clubs during times of recession, that's what they do...

So where is the exaggeration and the absurdity? (Apart from your accusations)

So pointing out you can get cheaper tickets is misleading? and twisting things? sometimes talking with you is like arguing with my wife :PP

and just a little bit on the end, I have bought the 35 pound tickets and they have been far from shit seats :SMUG:

Dude, we better drop this before it gets too personal. And if this reminds you of arguing with your wife, then this just got a little awkward! haha

Well I got the £35 tickets to see the game against Southampton and the seats weren't too good. This was last September.

I don't know how long ago you went, but If you move back to the UK and want to catch a big match at Arsenal, be prepared to fork out extra £££!

I've sat in many places in the emirates and always paid around 35pounds or less and none have been shit.....unless they have changed the structure of the Emirates in the last 2 years? ;))

Anyway we will drop it.....until next time! ;))

Tickets prices in general are a complete rip-off in England when you compare the deal our lucky German counterparts get.

Hah, no all they changed was the division of the stands to resemble Highbury Stadium (which you must have seen while you were here) and came up with the 3 categories division for tickets.

Anyway, moving on, what about tomorrow? Winnable?

I'm a bit nervous about this game, it's a potential banana skin. A relegated QPR might be more dangerous, as any opponent who has nothing left to play for. If they want to try and save some face in front of their fans, they could complicate things for us. But if they have the same attitude as grinning Bosingwa and 'Arry, then we should have no problems.

I expect QPR to play better but we just have to win otherwise we aren't in the champions league next season imo.

The only worry I have is that our players will take it for granted which has seen us lose many games over the last few seasons.

Ok, we got what we needed, the 3 points. I'd like to come here and say we played really well, like a team who has its sight on something very important, but that didn't look like it.

Between the end of 1st half and start of the 2nd there must have been a period of around 25-30 minutes without an Arsenal shot at goal. I'd have fallen asleep if not for the importance of the game and the constant fear QPR would score.

It's not as if QPR played well and saw lots of the ball. It's just that Arsenal is getting carried away with the possession football. And becoming extremely boring to watch in the process.

Let's not forget that QPR were already relegated and Granero didn't play, and Taraabt only came in the final 10 minutes.
That puts things into perspective and I think it was very poor from Arsenal.

I miss the times when we used to put games to bed, beyond the reach of some teams. Instead, we held onto the 1-0 lead until the dying minutes, and God knows this isn't ideal. Any goal there would've been a sucker punch.

Seeing how Tottenham won, we badly needed the points and fortunately in the end we got them.

I want badly this team to get CL footie, but this style of passing the ball to death is seriously pissing me off. I hope Wenger scratches it off and, hell, if you want to emulate anyone it should be the Germans!

At this stage of the season, it' all about points. That puts Arsenal in a really good position, as one of the other 2 has to drop points on Wednesday.

Not very inspiring stuff though!

I haven't seen Arsenal, but Spurs were awfull.
Bale saved the day once again. I like Bale, but i don't like the fact that he is that important for Spurs...

Yeah, I'm definitely happy with all the 3 points. But I just wonder what Wenger thinks, whether he thinks we could have attacked better and killed it off before. He certainly realises now how close it was - all it takes is for the ref to decide to give a penalty for that Zamora dive or any other barmy decision... and that would've been very hard to recover from.

That's why it drives me crazy this style of passing and flicking the ball around, when you should really be working their keeper more.

But yeah, the win puts Arsenal in a very good position.

I just hope Wenger and the boys realise that Wigan will put a hell of a fight and that there's a chance Newcastle won't be totally safe until we play them either.

and it showsRe: The ARSENAL Thread

I want a Mutd victory! and a draw for Chels vs Spurs! in mid-week.

I think Giroud is very important for us and it showed in the last two matches.

We haven't played very well in the last 4 games or so but we are just about getting the points.

We now have Wigan and Newcastle who are now both fighting to stay in the Prem, they are going to be very hard games and we need to play much better.

Spurs has sold enough players last few seasons to form an entire team strong enough to beat todays Spurs and Arsenal and not replaced them properly, so it's not weird that we must rely on Bale.

Talk about selling players, I think Arsenal sold almost a whole team that could be even winning the title!

Giroud will only come back for the last match against Newcastle.
Against Wigan we will have to play so much better. They're not going down without a fight and they've proven it in the last few seasons. As a matter of fact, they caught us with out pants down last season at the Emirates, so we better watch out.

Carrick, Berbs, Modric? That's pretty much it no? Not like you didn't make a fair amount of dosh from em!

The Champions League battle is brilliant to watch as a neutral. :D Looking very tight at the minute and all, our game and Wednesday will tell us whose in the box seat IMO, Arsenal vs Wigan with both fighting for their lives could be a cracker too.

You forgot all the players Harry didn't use: Pavelyuchenko, Pienaar, Krancjar, Dos Santos, Darren Bent,...

Anyway IMO Chelsea really deserve a CL spot, they are playing far better football than both Arsenal and Spurs...

At times both Spurs and Arsenal were awfull.

I've just watched some highlights of Wigan vs West Brom. They've gone behind twice before turning it all around and winning 3-2. Lots of desire and belief there.

I'm telling you, if Arsenal turns up casual like they did against QPR, Fulham and others, forget it.
We will be playing home and our players better show they really want it. We need much more than has been on display lately.

Chelsea did not deserve to be in the CL this season as they was very lucky to win it last year.

What goes around comes around.

I know, I'm so angry now. Ferguson said they wanted to keep it honest for the sake of the other clubs fighting for Champions League. Today they only left out Rooney, Carrick, Ferdinand, De Gea, Nani, Kagawa... they played bloody Anderson and an improvised Jones in midfield. I think it was disrespectful, but I suppose that's the way it goes.
Also we could and should have beaten them but Sagna made it all the more difficult.

Now get this: Chelsea is now 1 point above us with 1 game in hand. What if on Wednesday Bale scores one of his miracle goals and Tottenham beats Chelsea? We would be FUCKED. They'd go 1 point ahead of us too.

If that happened, it wouldn't be enough for us to win both our matches. We would be depending on combination of results. And I don't think we will win our remaining matches if we keep playing shit like that anyway.

So it's not looking very good for us right now, is it?

Its looking exactly the same for me, Chelsea were always more than likely getting 3rd imo and it is a fight between us and Spurs for 4th.

The game between Spurs and Chelsea is the big one, that result will determine things, if Spurs win, then I think they will get 4th but if they lose/draw we are in the driving seat (Of course if we beat Wigan).

Let`s see what happens, hopefully . Wigan will be deflated for our Tuesday match day.

As a United fan - neither do I. I've been harping on in the United thread all season about f*cking terrible Fergie has been tactically all season - some formations and lineups have made no sense and then we've predictably been terrible on the pitch.

Today we have a great chance to knock Chelsea out of the top 4 and what does he do? Field our second string team despite us not having played in a week.

The only reasoning I can think of is that Mourinho is coming back and Fergie's just doing him a favor.

All that said, Chelsea are going to destroy Spurs on Wednesday and you and them will finish in the top 4, with Spurs in 5th. So it doesn't matter.

Don't worry, Chelsea will beat Spurs.

As for Man Utd and Ferguson, they are champions, why would they bother with Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal ?
