Arsenal Thread

I would love to see Neville vs Schmiechel tunnel snub, but players aren't like that just us fans.

Most players wouldn't, such as Sagna or Vermaelen for instance, because they don't have the fan connection to the club. I could see Jack the Lad giving him the cold treatment though :D

That's where the line is drawn Mutd fans care for titles n history. Nothing wrong when there benefitted. Only player that talks cheaply was Nasri and that goes both ways. He says Wenger is the best while still employed by City!!

The club sold players and at the time RvP saw the dismantle in mentally. He knows the reality in the moral of each players. Fabregas as captain gave out presents during his leaving party (thank you lads) and everyone knew from the player himself. Thanks to big mouth Arshavin:) RVP did it during his vacation with family! As a captain and a human being he did it without reservation.

Mate, he doesn't have to say anything else he shatter the windows on exiting. Mutd fans can say but 29 he never was going to get a chance. Wenger could of sold him in his injury spell too. So, it's half full / half empty! Look , he won and playing for Mutd. Don't come and say we should commented him for it. What players find the time and speaks to the fans on leaving and make the club look at fault?

It may not be the best years for Arsenal but in theory the good days should be right around the corner. Great financial position, should make the top 4 and still have one of the best managers in the world to attract talent.

Wenger should go nuts this summer, just to shut everyone up.

Again I don't think anybody blames him for wanting to move, just the way he did it and where he went (the latter to a lessor extent, for me anyway).

What could he possibly bad mouth us about though? us nursing him throughout all of his injuries, being patient with him and our fans adoring him? making him captain?

This is why his statement hurt when he left, it was a big thing for him to do, it wasn't a passing comment, it was planned and articulated in such a way, which again was disrespectful to both the club and the fans.

He should have kept it all private and left with dignity, instead he poo'd all over it.

I think he regrets the comment as I do think he cares for the club, but it is too late to go back now, he has made his bed as they say (Not that I think he cares too much after winning the league).

He will probably score a hatrick against us at the weekend and rub it in even more

Well said. Why did he not leave like Fabregas? He never slated arsenal ever. In fact he talks more about arsenal then Barcelona and there is a rumour that he wants to return to us. He is a true legend and doors always open for him but Rvp is scum end of.

How can we go nuts in the summer when city can say to the potential arsenal players :Hi. Come join us we will pay u 300k per week. How can we Compete with that? Not even united can

Game time, history, Wenger. That's what Arsenal have going for them. That's enough for most.

Lots of chat that Jovetic is coming to Arsenal, that'd be a great buy. I'd get him, Jagielka, and possibly a 'hard' midfielder and the squad looks quite balanced. Where is Frimpong these days?

1. There are more than enough players on this planet for both Arsenal and City.
2. We're not going to be paying anyone 300k a week - unless it's Ronaldo or Messi, which aren't likely to say the least.
3. If we sign Jovetic don't start moaning about us snatching yyour targets, we've been linked with him for a number of years now!

Don't forget psg. Chelsea and real Madrid. Not enough quality players for us to get. Arsenal need a world class player. There is not many available

you will hear us moan! but we`ll get over it :P .We`ll do a decoy like SAF does put players and bid and sign the player they wanted along.

Arsenal should learn from a club like Dortmund.
Where were Wenger's scouts when Dortmund bouhgt players like Kagawa, Sahin, Gundogan, Subotic and the 3 Polish players for a fraction of Andy Caroll's prize...now it's too late of course after the day before yesterday those players are beyond Arsenal's reach. But there must be dozens of similar players like that. Somehow i have a feeling Arsenal's scouting team have lost their touch...

Yea possibly.

Wenger has sold many players for a very considerable amount . In a league where demanding is always evolving . We could easily be talking about Malaga :). Dormund is a club that will sell all their players for a profit. Their league is not under the same scrunity . Arsenal has done very good to be where there at. The 4th riches club ahead of Bayern .

Yet we look as if where the 4th poorest club in the EPL the way we spend money on wages and transfers

Well we spend a lot in wages as a whole. We got 18yrs making 30k a week :) Giroud before coming was on 15k :CONFUSE: we spend too much on kids.

What about the 100's of other teams that didn't find out about/buy all of those players?

Why do you mention Andy Carroll as well? we didn't buy him thank god! ;))

Also i've mentioned it before in here but just because a player plays well for one team doesn't mean he will play well for your team. It just so happens Dortmund got a bunch of players together that play very well together....and just like Arsenal they are all getting bought off of them, so I think we do have similarities :DD

If we would have kept all/most of the players we have sold in the last few years, we would be fighting for the league (and other tournaments/cups) right now. So I don't know if our scouts are the problem, the problem is keeping the players when they eventually play well.

I think our problem isn't finding really good players, because I think we have them, we just haven't found the right mix, which Dortmund have.

Hopefully we can find a few more players to add to the squad and then we can get a great mix of players together.

I'm not sure that all of these DOrtmund players are unique or 'world class superstars' (tho I may be wrong), I think it's just as much the case that they'r extremely complimentary to each other and the system and style Kloppe has put in place.

Kloppe is the man :WORSHIP:

Bobby, basically that is what i wanted to say...search good and complementary players and build a team...

It seems as if Wenger has lost that touch...he used to be very good at it.

I'd argue against that as I said above I think we are getting the players, we just aren't keeping them. Walcott was complimenting Van Persie well last season, Cazorla compliments the team greatly, Fabregas fitted us like a glove. Nasri was doing well and could have been great for us, Adebayor was also great for us etc etc our defence is working better together now.

I would like to have seen a front 3 of Podolski, Van Persie and Walcott, behind them Fabregas, Cazorla and Song/Arteta (ideally a strong defensive mid). And our defence now actually defending with a better goalkeeper. With players like Nasri Wilshere, Adebayor as back up etc

I think that team could have done very well......all ifs and buts but it's just to prove we have been getting very good players in.

What would people like to see next season, thinking about possible signings this summer?

I think this might look good,

..........................Adler/Szcz.......................
.Sagna/Jenkinson....Merts/new player...Kosc/Vermaelen....Gibbs/Monreal
.............Arteta/NewPlayer............Wilshere/Ramsey................
........................Cazorla/Rosicky...........................
Alexis Sanchez/Walcott/Ox....Jovetic/Giroud..........Podolski/Gervinho

Also would like a big strong DM (My knowledge of good DM we can get is limited?) and another back up defender (again I don't know who is out there that we can get?)

Adler (Maybe Casillas mentioned?), Jovetic and Sanchez in with another DM and Defender.

Get rid of Bendtner, Denilson, Arshavin, Scillachi etc

I think it is possible with a net spend of around 50-60mill (After selling the deadwood)

It would make our team much stronger and the transfer targets I think can be real possibilities.

Anyway, just wondering what other people think?

It's not much a case of selling dead wood, it's not that easy when we hand players like Chamakh, Park and Squilaci long contracts and salaries other teams wouldn't like to pay.
Arshavin's contract runs out this summer, but we still have to endure (or find suitors at least for loans) for Denilson and Bendtner for instance. There's also Andre Santos who is totally surplus to requirement and not suited at all for playing left back at top level, let alone the Premier League.

Too many bad signings, along with ones that didn't work out for bad luck perhaps.

If we do go for ambitious signings in the transfer market, I could see us getting these reinforcements you mention. A new keeper (they say Adler, which would be great), Jovetic and the now much fabled DMF. I can think of Felipe Melo (old link), Diame, or Sheikh Tioté as phisically stronger players who could add that much needed steel to our midfield.

One thing though, Jovetic isn't by any means a centre forward. He should play off Giroud.

Anyway, we got bigger fish to fry now and really need those 3 points today. We will find out today how life without Giroud is - and if we look toothless (as I think we will) maybe we should consider buying a proper outright CF soon.

For me, the buys of the season would be Benteke, Ricky Lambert and Lukaku (although Chelsea won't be looking to sell). There will be also opportunity buys, looking at clubs who will get relegated, such as Loic Remy, Granero and Julio Cesar at QPR.

Ahh what the FUUUCK is Sagna thinking?!? I've had enough. And considering Jenkinson's progress, I'd rather see Carl being our first choice RB starting now.

Sagna doesn't give a fuck and he looks it. He must be thinking of PSG already. See how he was not busting a gut to track down Nani, which almost led to a RvP goal (Szcz saved with his face).
And then the mental diarrhoea moment. A horrible backpass and a stupid, naive tackle on RvP.

I'm fed up with Arsenal's ability to self destruct and, in a matter of 10 seconds, completely throw everything we had achieved in the 1st half down the shitter!

And, BTW, we could've been 2-0 up. Ramsey is having a mixed match, some excellent defensive contributions and tidying things up from the back, but when he is required to create something, I'm beginning to think he is hopeless.
There was that counter attack, Theo was open and could have walked with the ball inside the net, had Ramsey made the right decision.
His decision making and execution of some passes really leave much to be desired and that's what I'm talking about when I say it costs us big time. Sometimes costs us wins, points...

And RvP? Leave everything aside, his controversial statement and exit... still a massive cunt in my books. That tackle on Mertesacker was totally unnecessary.

How is everyone enjoying the Phil dowd show? United have had a card for almost every challenge made. Our worst discipline shoeing this season. And sagna escaped a sure red cause dowd cant remember things for more than 20 seconds. Great stuff.

I don't rate Phil Dowd but most bookings today couldn't be avoided. There was a lot of cynicism in some fouls to stop counter attacks, etc. Not to mention the totally unnecessary tackle by the grey cunt.

I think United were playing at 60% of their capabilities for most of the match today and we failed to capitalise.
We should have really won this but Sagna had other plans.

I'm still aggrieved by that, unacceptable stuff, school boy stuff - no, even schoolboys would have refrained from tackling like that inside the box after giving it away.

I agree rvps tackle was reckless but I do not believe there was malicious intent, he seemed focussed on the ball. It was the type of challenge crazy Scholes and Davids seemed to make at least once a game haha. In some ways you couldn't have scripted this game better. Evra was a bit frustrating today, seemed like him and Sagna had something to prove to each other.
Arsenal didn't really seem to wanna win and United played like they're about done for the season.

Arsenal seemed to miss the point about needing someone in the box to score. Other than when Walcott 'beat' the offside trap, I can't think of many good shooting chances. All sterile posesssion outside the box, with chances to cross but no one in there to cross to.

And a couple long shots, that was it.

Can't believe Sagna didn't get sent off. His second yellow card offense on Evra was far worse than those Evans, Jones and Rafael were booked for.

It was just that inconsistency from Dowd that was baffling. I don't really care, but thought it was funny - in the first half Arsenal were 'evertoning' United - Ramsey and Rosicky were both sliding into everything and leaving a bit in. I think it's great to see, but ironic that it's just two weeks after Wenger was so upset by it.
