Lets just hope justice prevails and they can replay the match without the players being handicapped.

dude...... i dont understand you... whats ur point.... u can take the moral ground or road all you want....

but the truth is... injuries, bugs.. are part of the game...Do you get to replay a game because... a player picks up a knock... in the light practice several hours before the game...

common man... spurs had 38 games to secure more points than arsenal.. they neva did ... if it came down to the wire... they had a food poisoning... ooh welll too bad... things happen ... but that doesnt mean ... they shud replay the game.. are u kidding me.....

The food poisoning was that bad,..... and defoe scored a goal.... they were able to still fill a team.... dude dats why u have a squad of 25 players....

This is just undermining West ham as a team... saying they wudnt beat spurs .. come man... ..

u can keep goin on and on... but the truth is the game wud neva be replayed.... .

I cant answer that, maybe he wasnt match fit and couldnt be risked, I dont know. Im still trying to figure out how Wilcock didnt get a game for arsenal this year although people are raving on about how good he was in the reserves.

You say that but the premier league were prepared to delay kick off for tottenham untill their players recovered. SO they took exception since this aint happened before, so i dont see how they cant replay the game. You can dismiss it as rubbish but you know its the right thing to do to make things fair again. If this happened to Arsenal, you guys would be over the roof fully supporting a reply.

Yeah but Tottenham turned this down.

Do you think that there had been this up roar if it had happened on the first day of the season? Would they be asking for a replay then? No of course not. Now its the last game of the season they want a replay. What a joke outfit they are.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Why...... so...... many..... dots......?...... :D

Replay? I think that's disrespectful in the extreme to West Ham. They played out of their skin (respect!) and fully deserved the win with two excellent goals which I'm not convinced Spu*s would have defended anyway. Don't forget, West Ham vs Tottenham is a local rivalry, not as intense as vs Arsenal but ask any Hammers fan what they think of the spuds and I will bet you that win meant a lot.

At one time we had our entire 1st choice defence out through injury. Did we moan about replays? Did we fu*k. You have a squad for a reason. If Jol doesn't have any faith in his young players then why are they at the club in the first place? Our injury crisis has been the making of Eboue, Senderos and Flamini (and to a lesser extent Clichy and Djourou) time to show some faith in all these English players you've been picking up Sperz!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

We had 9 of our best players out for most of the season, including three of our four man defence which included our two England Internationals. We were unlucky to get these injuries and it sounds like spurs were unlucky to have 10 players ill at the same time!

Sh*t happens!!

Shall we ask to play the whole season back?...No, so why should Tottenham be allowed to Replay this game? it's nonsense!

Tottenham has a big squad they could have played a team of Well and abled players - they chose not to - thats their fault!

If it is proven that they were poisened on purpose, then this is not on - but they will have to prove that - this takes time and the game has to be played soon... with the FA cup this weekend and the world cup 4 weeks away it would be silly to replay.

Anyway Arsenal are gonna win the Champions league so this whole debate is pointless.

This wouldn't happen to Arsenal cause we have our on chef cooking the meals pre-match not some random!

As ialready pointed out Arsenal didnt get hit with aall ten of their first teamers injured all at once before such a big game. Otherwise im sure there would of been some call for a reply. For example if Ten Arsenal first teamers got hit with soem strange virus the night before the Villereal semi final, do you really think Arsenal would be ok fot their game to be played with their sick unstable players?

And clockender the reason they turned it down is cuz they would have got points deducted.

I dont know why im arguing with you guys, its futile. You fans only see what matters to Arsenal winning, anything else is not part of the equation.

We understand that the incident was unfortunate for them but we don't agree with the game being replayed, those players were able to make the field and if they were that bad they could have replaced a couple of them with reserves. They still persisted with their normal full strength starting line and that was their choice.

Of course those players still played cuz they were still phyically able to move thier body. It was the last match of the season and they didnt want to let their fans down cant you understand that. Im sure they couldnt concentrate properly and their bodys were weak from being sick inside. Its like you enter a bike competition and its you against your friend in the final. You catch a serious virus the night before and you ask if they final can be postponed but they tell you if you postpone the final to another day, you wont win the cup even if you do win on that day. So with your sick self your still able to ride the bike in the final, but your not 100%. You cant give your all throughout the race and cuz of that your friend wins. After the final you think that people could see how sick you were riding the bike and you ask for a reply ,on the grounds that you were sick and asked before the game for it to be replayed.

See my point now? i cant believe I have to break it down like this, but hopefully now looking at it from a different situation away from football you can see the predicament tottenham had to face.

No they were granted an hours delay by the FA but turned it down. The points deduction issue may have occurred if they had postponed the game themselves, which they didn't.

Get yer facts right (again!)

Even a hour wouldnt have been sufficient enough, you cant recover from food poisoning in an hour. It would most likley of got worse by then thats why it got turned it down. And yes what i meant is if they postponed the match they could of got points deducted.

Well they should have stepped aside if they were too ill to play. Obviously they let their supporters down by playing - they should have let the Well players play and it may have been a different story.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

11 years mate, I feel a bit ill ;)

I think it says on the Arsenal site they are ok outside but indoors over time could be a risk! Shame as I had bought mine!

Ive already proven my point my friend. Its obvious none of you type of fans is gonna admit im right.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

I don't think anyone should be allowed to replay a game that they have already played, in some sports I guess it would be okay but in football there is so much that can happen differently and not just players feeling ill. :|

I feel sorry for Spurs but a replay would not be fair on West Ham or Arsenal...

Anyway, who knows, after the Champsions League final it might not matter as much. ;)

Please... do get over yourself. Having an opinion on a matter such as this, however empassioned you are about it, does not make you 'right'.

Where would you draw the line? Ok, so replay this fixture. How many appeals do you think are gonna come flooding in from other clubs to replay games? How much abuse of the new precident of replaying games when you have ill players would you get from unscrupulous clubs?

"We lost 3-0? Fuck it, we'll just appeal to the FA and tell them the lads had toothache and we'll get a replay."

Rubbish. If you squad isn't deep enough to replace key players thats your problem. 10 players out is a hell of a lot but you can't just replay games willy nilly whenever conditions are less than perfect for you. Spu*rs didn't have to play all of their ill players, from what I've read Carrick was the only player seriously affected. Defoe still managed a sick goal so it can't have been that bad.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Also, if Carrick, CMF was unwell, what the hell was Danny Murphy doing on the bench? Surely they could have included him!

Also what about Noureddine Naybet, Stephen Kelly, Hossam Ghaly, Andy Reid, Tom Huddlestone, Goran Bunjevčević, Calum Davenport. That's top heavy with defenders, but if Dawson and Carrick were allegedly the ones most severe, there had ready stand in reserves!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

I already have highlighted my points. I'd be going round in circles and im too tired to do that, its not worth it. Even when i lay down the facts, you'll still find some unrealistic thing to say to counter my points

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

I think we should play every game twice and take an average score from both games. one at the start of the season and another 4 months later.

Sod it. Spurs would have lost the qualifying round anyway 'cause they're shit

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

The new Arsenal chant: "Stand up if you fed Tottenham."

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

This arguement is pointless. Who ever proves to be right, only gets the right to whine about what happened. Nothing more. If this had happened to Arsenal and they had appealed, they wouldnt have got the replay either. All they could have done was whine and moan like Spurs.
As unlucky as Spurs were, the final decision was fair cuz its the same as what any other team would have got.

And the dumb thing that Spurs did was actually go out there and play the game. If they were serious about this, they shouldnt have played the game. What if Spurs had won the match? Would they have complained? No. What if they lost and Arsenal lost too? Would they have complained? Again no.
So basically what we have hear is a situation where, if the replay was granted, Spurs would have got TWO opportunities to beat West Ham only once. Whereas West Ham would have had to beat Spurs TWICE for their victory to count. I dont see whats fair in that idea.

As much as I hate Arsenal, this is the honest truth.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Arsenal better have their food screened from now on? as they say you never know come may 16th :p *touch wood*

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP
