Wait a minute. So if you win the CL, do we have to qualify instead of you?

Don't panic mancs you're in the group stages. If we win the final the lowest ranked league loses their automtic spot and that league happens to be Scotland. Therefore Celtic will be cheering on Barca.

Anyway back to the celebrations what a final day, so much emotion and drama what a fitting finale to the last day at the home of football. Such a sad moment.

Although I had to settle for watching it down the pub seeing the seven yids sitiing behind me going from jubilation when Wigan went 2-1 up to them sloping of 5 mins before the end of the game made my day!!!!

Youssi Benayoun will always be favourite yid forever!

And seeing as no one else has said it I think it's only right that i say:

"CHAMPIONS LEAGUE YOU'RE AVING A LARF, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE YOU'RE AVING A LARF AAAAAAHHHHHHH"

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

A lot of people on this forum doubted us (mainly fans of other clubs you know who you are!) but I always felt that we would get that 4th spot. The table never lies, after 38 games we deserve to be there after a brilliant run of form over the past 3 months.

I said back in Feb that people should judge us at the end of the season and see where we are then. At that time we were getting slated from all angles. Well 1 half of the job is done just got to wait 9 tense days now for the other half.

Great day yesterday, very emotional and the match was a fitting send of for Highbury. Henry has scored 137 goals in 171 games there :applause: and that tells it own story.

I also have a message for all the Spurs fans out there:

Champions League, you shit yourself, Champions League, you shit yourself ...... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I dont see how you guys can be so proud of clinching 4th place by the other team being handicapped. But i guess these are desperate times so its understandable

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Yes!!! my post about the new Spurs sponsor got posted! :D:D:D

http://www.football365.com/opinion/mailbox/story_184850.shtml

I'm loving it man!!! wore my red current shirt with my tie to work today.. i'm in that mood.. i don't care!!!! :D:D:D:D

I'm chuffed to high hell, and it was a nail biting last day. The roll call at the end, of 8 generations of Arsenal greats was fitting, as was the enormous cheer for Rocky (R.I.P - loved forever!)..

Also fitting was the show of trophys from 1913 to present...

Only wished the Iceman had scored with that chip late on..

COME ON YOU REDS!!!!

You really are something else mate

"Desperate times" :lmao:

What you doing Wednesday week may I ask?

We clinched 4th place over 38 games not over 1 game!! What is it they say, the table never lies!!

We are happy because we nicked the final CL place on the last day of the season, beating our local rivals into 4th place with a rousing win in the final match of the season which was the final ever game at Highbury where our best player scored a hat-trick.

Do you not get football at all???

It's not the desparation..

it's,

1) Proving the critics wrong
2) Getting one over the HotSh*ts
3) Bowing with grace from a classic stadium
4) Winning the last game at Highbury
5) King Henry with a hat trick
6) Seeing off the Iceman
7) Knowing that we can at least relax, a bit, in the CL final
8) The whole 'being there'

Yes the season has been bad from Arsenal's perspective, and it's the first time since Arsene took over that we finished outside the top 2. There is the thought that if we didn't get 4th, and then lost the CL, we'd lose revenue (£10mil) and our talisman. The whole fact that we might, however remote it may seem, hold on to him, is something i consider celebrating.

c'mon dude thats a bit harsh, its like us being glad for second place.

United and arsenal are in transition, our season could have easily been like arsenals (without the euro run).

I thought it was a good game yesterday, reminded me of Barca a few years back when Rivaldo scored to get them 4th place...

Well done goons.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Our fans didnt go 'barmy' over winning the carling cup, we were happy about it but wernt going on and on about it like its some magical unlikely to happen ever again event. I mean the arsenal fans are going nuts over just getting 4th place!! not 1st, not 2nd but 4th!! If these are not desperate times for a club that use to worry about winnning the title then i dont know what is.

dont you think its more to do with beating spurs to 4th place...

I know us beating LFC to 2nd makes it alot sweeter, I can only imagine what it would be like if we did the same to city.

Well theres being in transition and there is being bad all season. Arsenal have been the latter domestically, what i mean is they have been 5th most part of the season, and only at the end when the team in 4th gets handicapped by 90% of the team falling ill, do Arsenal do better. That imo is not something to celebrate too proudly, especially the taunts. How would you like it if your team is sitting in 1st all season and then the final day the team closest gets to play while your team is handicapped and in position to overtake. Its not very nice. Not much class with all the taunts and teases.

Yeah its always nice to get one over on your closest rivals but i like to do it in a honourable fashion, not the opposing team dying or falling ill and then taunting afterwards. Yeah the victory was probably good but all these taunts about players getting food poisend i think is uncalled for. i think that Tottenham was very unlucky for that to happen to them and I wouldnt wish that to happen to any team, whatever is at stake. Maybe Arsenal's philosophy is to win at whatever means necessary at whatever cost, but I personally dont like that and I cant fathom how anyone can support that idea.

Well in our opinion Spurs had a win at any cost by playing on when a player was injured at Highbury and win at any costs you sound like the food poisoning is something Arsenal did. They have a squad of 40 players if you can't play a game cause you have 7 players missing most games wouldn't go ahead!

Vann is spot on about why we're celebrating so much it's about beating a rival! Our league form this season has been a disaster and this is our worst finish for 10 years! However we're in the Champions league next year, we're in the Champions League final a week Wednesday and we just screwed Spurs, they are good times!

That's the reason for our fans being so happy and I'm not suprised that you don't understand this cause your posts make me think of you as some miserable old bastard that isn't happy unless you have something to moan about!

Crikey you are touchy! Who is taunting? I was celebrating 4th place and getting one over on Spurs nothing else.

All the Spurs fans I know have been going on and on all season how they are the better side, how they are going to do better than us in the CL next season, how the balance of power is shifting in North London, we have had to sit there are take it. But the season is 38 games long and we are there at the end. Thats what counts. Thats why there has been an outpouring of joy over this victory.

"Win at whatever means necessary" What does that mean in relation to yesterday? We won fair and square. ALso, who died?

Listen to what Vann has said he has it right.

I already covered that incident at higgbury and you cant compare that to players getting sick. I can understand the celebrations of being in the CL final, ill be there watching cheering arsenal on. But getting 4th and acting like you just won the title, come on you have to admit its going overboard a bit.

Bessides that your right i am miserable, but old I am far from.

It means you dont care what happens just so long as you win

I asked you to relate that to yesterday as that was what you were implying?? Maybe not but I think you need to clarify that point before we can move on.

I dont need to clarify nothing. But I wll for my own benefit so you guys will understand. Yesterday there was no giving credit or acknowledgment of spurs being unlucky, you didnt care of the players being seriously sick. If the spurs team died, arsenal still wouldnt share any condolences, just so long as they won, nothing else matters.

whats up fella, did you not get any poon-tang this weekend??

if spurs had won 4th place do you think they would have been bothered about the injury situation that arsenal have had all season..

I really cant see where your coming from...

Where are you going with this one buddy? "If the Spurs team had died..." Are we dealing in the realms of fantasy now? Thats a pretty big 'if' right there.

I would imagine if someone was actually DEAD there would have been no celebrations what so ever as the game would not have been played. However, no one died, we're talking about a case of the squits. Boo hoo I say, do you think Sp*rs would have held back if it was Thierry stuck on the bog a couple of hours before kick off? Me neither.

It's karma payback for their dodgy goal at Highbury, we're in the CL, where we belong, the table doesn't lie, plus any other football saying cliches you can think of :p

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Of course you'll never admit it cuz in your eyes your team are Angels and saints. Even United supporters dont like talking bad about their own team or being critical as i recently discovered.

Finishing 4th has further implications: i.e. champions league football (and not uefa cup - therefore more money to invest in the future), which in turn gives us a slightly better chance of us keeping Henry - that coupled with finishing ahead of our local rivals during the last game at Highbury makes it all the sweeter.

To put it another way - how do you think Tottenham fans would have reacted if they got forth place and left us in the uefa cup?; or even if the situation was completely reversed?

I have critisied Arsenal before and I will again, but if you want me to be sorry for Spurs then you are going to be disappointed I'm afraid.
